Chapter 7: She came back

Ynez's POV

It has been a year since our divorce. I used to think that the moon goddess didn't hear my prayers. Then, I woke up in Bhutan with no mark on my neck.

I spoke with my son and told him the truth. He understood and didn't ask me to give his father a chance. When I looked at myself, I saw a better reflection.

The curse was still there, but I managed to break two of the three tiers, which means I can live for another year before it consumes me completely.

"Mommy, what's going on?" Raizen asked, noticing the luggage on my left side.

I smiled and took my son's hand. "We are going back to England. Now that you know about my curse and when I will die, I want you to claim your rights as Lorenzo and Richards. I know you will be loved by both families. If I don't break this curse, I want you to be surrounded by the people I trust the most," I whispered.

He was taken aback and suddenly pulled me into an embrace. I understand his concern for me, but I need to be strong for my son. I gently stroked his back.

"Mommy, I know you've been facing difficult memories and painful truths. You don't have to do this for me. I'll be fine. I'm eight years old now. If the time comes, I can take care of myself. Uncle has promised me that we will find a way to break the curse on you. I believe we can do it," Raizen whispers.

I hold his face and smile. "It's okay, sweetheart. Everything will be fine, trust me. I will ensure that your life is better before I pass away. We will be okay in England, I promise you that," I whispered.

He looks sad but chooses to nod and agree with me. Before we headed to the airport for our flight, I called someone. He arrived and looked at me with a worried expression.

I smiled and hugged him. "Thank you. I am deeply grateful for everything and I'm so happy to have met you here."

He returns the hug. "Are you certain about going back to that place?" he inquires.

I lift my head and nod. I can tell he's concerned. He releases me, clasps my hands together, and lets out a sigh.

"If things go awry, come back home. I will always be here. I promise to find the right spell to break your curse once and for all. Just wait for me," he assures. I smile and press his palm.

"Don't worry about me. We'll be okay. You don't need to spend any more time on me. Live your own life," I whisper. He embraces me once more. We bid our goodbyes and stopped him from seeing us off at the airport.

My son remains silent throughout our flight. He just plays games, listens to music, and reads his favorite book. I know he's worried about the life that awaits us.

I am determined to give him the best life possible before I pass away. As a mother, I am willing to do anything for my son’s future, even if I am no longer a part of it.

After landing at an airport, we have a two-hour layover before our connecting flight. I glance at Raizen and say, "Sweetheart, let's find a place to eat. Since we're in India, we can try the fast-food chain that you like."

He smiles and takes my hand. We head out to try the fast-food chain that he prefers, and I watch him enjoy his meal.

Despite feeling afraid, I don't want to show it. Raizen is the reason why I have no regrets about that night. He is the reason why I fight so hard.

"Mommy, if you're not uncomfortable with the idea, we can still go back to Bhutan," Raizen suggests. I shake my head.

"Mommy will be fine as long as you are. I promise, you will never regret agreeing with my plans. You trust mommy, right?" I ask. He smiles and nods. Although I know he's doubtful.

After waiting for our next flight at the airport, we boarded the plane after an hour. Despite the long wait, we finally arrived at the place I had once sworn never to return to.

Hailing a cab, the driver helped us with our luggage before we set off. When I told him the address, I noticed his surprise, knowing that he was a low-ranking werewolf.

I could tell he understood the power of my pack. "On vacation, ma'am?" he asked, to which I simply nodded and replied, "Yup, it's been ages."

He didn't inquire further. An hour's drive later, we reached the villa. I was determined to make a grand entrance and make their lives as difficult as they had made mine. After the cab left, we entered the villa, and my son expressed his desire to take a nap.

I am curious about what's happening in the main household, which is three kilometers away from this villa, our ancestral house. This entire property spans 200 hectares, and my parents are the owners.

I knew they wouldn't notice that I was here, so I made good use of my time. I had the cab stop at a restaurant where we ordered dinner. I set up my office in another room and began analyzing the data that was sent to me.

I smiled, realizing that sometimes I don't need to rely on my strength as a werewolf. It's wiser to be strategic in different ways. Let's see how she reacts now that I'm their new CFO, or Chief Financial Officer.

I will ensure that I have control over their company's financial health. "Look what we have here. This will be a strong card to play as a warning," I whispered, a smirk forming on my lips. I better prepare for a major showdown tomorrow morning.

"Good morning, sweetie. Be prepared for dinner later, alright? Remember to stay as inconspicuous as possible. We're planning a surprise. Or maybe it'll be lunch if things get interesting."

My son furrows his brow. "Mommy, I hope you're strong enough for whatever evil plan you have," he says. I playfully pinch his cheek and chuckle. For an 8-year-old who is a genius and was trained by his uncle, my son knows me better than anyone in this world.

"Why? Are you worried I can't succeed?" I reply. He laughs instead. "I'm worried you'll make them bleed to death," he says.

I laugh even heartier. "You really know me," I reply.

I kiss his forehead after checking the time. The meeting will start in 10 minutes. I'll make my entrance after thirty minutes, as soon as they start arguing. That will be my grand entrance.

"I'll see you later, sweetie," I say.

He nods and closes the door. I walk until I reach the highway and hail a cab. I get stuck in traffic and it's almost eleven by the time I reach the place.

I hear different murmurs before the elevator closes. I donned a mask and went unnoticed by everyone. The company is a joint venture between Lorenzo and Richards' families.

Unbeknownst to them, I am the third largest stockholder of RLE (Richards-Lorenzo Empire). As the door opened, I emerged, wearing my mask and blazer, ready for action.

I headed straight to the conference room, but no one seemed to acknowledge my presence. "What will happen to the company now? It's been said that it's on the verge of bankruptcy after the king chose Eleanor. Things are going downhill for him and the two families were not very interested in helping the king. Have you noticed how our pack is suffering as well? We are on the verge of war against that…" she paused. They both shut their lips.

"She's failing as the acting luna of Crimson Twilight. Are we going to fall into ruins?" the woman added.
