Zerah

I was supposed to be here for ice cream. That was the plan, just a small treat to get me over the edge.

Something sweet to distract me from the madness that had been our lives.

But of course, their machine was broken…again.

"When was it not broken?" I joked as I sipped my cup of coffee, coffee wasn't exactly the plan but things didn't exactly go the way I wanted it to.

I had come to this place with Micah and Ryan once. I really didn't know what to expect.

“They should just take the sign down at this point.” Nathan chuckled into his cup.

I laughed too, forgetting for a second how heavy my chest had felt all morning, but I laughed with a mouthful of coffee, and a little bit dripped from the corner of my lips.

Heat rushed to my cheeks. I reached for a napkin, embarrassed, but before I could grab one, Nathan leaned over and gently wiped it off with a towel.

I froze at his gesture, forcing back the urge to recoil.

It wasn’t just a gesture. It was the way he did it, so soft, so care

  • Losing Ryker: The Billionaire's Second Chance    Chapter 103

ZerahFrom the moment I reached the office, I knew. The whole place was buzzing like someone had kicked a beehive. Most of the staff had phones glued to their faces and their mouths were hanging open, their fingers frozen mid-air like they forgot how to type. Some people even had their hands over their mouths like they’d just watched a horror movie. I, on the other hand, remained calm in the face of this. Not because it didn’t matter, but because I had already gone through every possible emotion days ago.The shock, anger and anxiety? That ship had sailed, now… all that was left was silence on my end.A twisted kind of silence, considering that I was the main hidden catalyst for all of this. I didn't stop moving, greeting past my other coworkers, some of whom were too absent minded to greet back. Nathan's door remained closed silent. Was he in the office? I had no idea. There were no sounds of movements, so I suspected the negative. I wasn't surprised. With the plethora of family ma

RykerThe reaction from the crowd was immediate. Taking a step back from the podium, I looked at all of them carefully, marking the murmurs that filled the room and the flashing lights. And then, I bowed.Murmurs arose instantly, drifting into the same uproar from before and the snaps from cameras free near frantic. I didn't mind it.I felt no shame at this moment. Not at this. This part was simply my own penance to pay. A penance that was due for the past few days.No matter how far it spiralled, it had begun with my reckless actions. First in the meeting room, then in the car, even going as far as to nearly threaten a stranger publicly. It was madness, no matter the reason why and I had to pay for it.For the sake of my family.I rose again, meeting the flashing lights that had calmed down after taking their fill and walked back to the podium.“My actions have no excuses and I won't plead for mercy on that part. I've brought shame not only to my reputation but also caused speculati

Ryker Time was ticking fast.Looking over at the files for a final time I stood up from my chair. The tension in my body felt evident as I stretched my shoulders, trying to shake off the weight of everything. The leather creaked softly as I pushed it back, the sound echoing in the quiet office. There was enough thinking. This was the time to take action and for that I had to prepare.I moved towards my personal restroom. The cool air enveloped me the moment I stepped inside, flicking in the fluorescent lights despite it being day time.In it, I could see my reflection. My gaze narrowed as I took in the sight of myself. My dark hair was perfectly in place, my suit impeccable and my posture still the perfect picture of calm. The exhaustion and worn nature was still there, subtle to my eyes but I knew that on the outside, I looked exactly the same.Inside however told a different story. I could see it in my eyes. There was no way in hell I could go out feeling like this. Not at the cha

  • Losing Ryker: The Billionaire's Second Chance    Chapter 100

RykerOn the screen was a news anchor speaking. I barely processed the particular station it was or whatever he was saying. The only thing that I could focus on was the footage playing on screen.I felt completely frozen yet the sight made my skin crawl. It was Robinson. Again. But this time… it was completely different. This footage, unlike the previous one, wasn't in the club. It was a familiar setting, one that matched the one I was in.This was in his office in Falloway Corporation. The vertical visuals hindered sight of everything else, as though the footage was captured in hidden view but the rest was clear. From the shot he was standing close, far to a young woman. It was clearly an employee from the tag.Her face was blurred out, but her body language screamed clear discomfort. No. Not just discomfort.Fear.The anchor's voice was gone, replaced with the static sound of the footage now in full view on the television. I watched as James Robinson raised his hand to stroke the

Ryker My eyes narrowed as I stared at it, completely dumbfounded. The news report looked surreal, near unbearable to see. I was frozen in place. As far as it was proven, most if not all the press was currently feeding into Robinson’s greasy palm. None were going to speak out against him. If so, what the hell is this? How did this happen? I turned slowly to Jason, my eyes narrowed. “What is this?” I asked even though I knew exactly what it was. He didn’t answer right away. Instead he nudged the tablet a little closer like I wasn’t already glued to it. “Keep reading,” he said. I dragged my eyes back to the screen, letting every word sink in meticulously. ‘James Robinson, has continuously lauded himself as a victim in the face of the press, using his influence to control the narrative as a philanthropist, father and clean businessman. No longer would you be fooled. The first and most viral incident regarding his so- called victimhood towards Ryker Davidson, CEO of
