The moment her eyes rolled back, my world stopped.

"Lily?" I touched her face, panic clawing at my chest. "Lily, baby, look at me."

Nothing. Her head lolled to the side, completely limp in my arms.

*What did I do?*

*She's fine,* Lucas growled in my mind, but I could feel his worry bleeding through. *The bond is strong. She needs time.*

Time for what? Time to recover from what I'd done to her?

Blood. There was blood on my mouth, on her neck. The mark was already healing, but seeing it made my stomach turn.

I'd hurt her. I'd claimed her and she'd passed out from the pain.

"I'm sorry," I whispered, gathering her against my chest. Her skin was pale, too pale, and she felt so small and fragile in my arms.

*She's our mate now,* Lucas said, his voice filled with wonder. *Can you feel it? The bond?*
