Chapter 101

“It’s as I suspected my King, the blotches began taking over their hearts after mimicking the shape and function and now that their wolves have brought it up, it’s only roughly a quarter of their real heart is remaining, so unless we do a transplant or something they will die” 

“We can’t let them die Franny! There must be another way! My daughter can’t finally find her mate and have him die!” 

“Unless...” she looks at me “no! There is no way we’re doing that” “but that is the best bet we have right now my King” “what? What is it?” I sigh and show him the container “what is it?”  

“Something from the Reapers Nation, it seems as though it severs the connection between the person and their wolf, which is why Carson was so resistant to Astrid, once he brought it up his wolf recognized her and accepted her, if we put it back things will go back to what it was Franny, I told you it will be unfair to do that to them and who knows what else will happen after it fully takes their heart over, it’s just too big of a chance to take” 

She looks at Alpha Aaron, I’m guessing so he could say something to me “I’m sorry Franny but I have to agree with the King on this one, we’d have to try and find another way to help them, it’s too much of a risk to do things this way” 

“Would they be stable through the night?” “yes they will, they set up a makeshift heart to keep the blood and oxygen pumping around their bodies, but it is not a permanent fix so whatever solution we can find has to be sooner than later” 

“Give us 48 hours, I’m positive we’d be able to find something to save them” “okay” 

“I’m going to head out Alpha, see you tomorrow” “yes my King” I leave the VIP wing and head back to my castle, I get half way up to my floor and turn back, I get out to the back of the castle and shift running all the way to my parents place.

‘Dad I’m outside can you bring me some clothes’ he doesn’t respond but after a few minutes he comes out carrying a set of clothes, “what are you doing here at this hour Hunter?” I shift and quickly get dresses.

“I have a situation Dad and I want to have your input on it” “oh, what’s up?” “that rogue you brought in” “the rogue Roro brought in” “yes the rogue, well it turns out she’s Cory’s mate and was unable to connect with her wolf, Cory had to try to reach out to her and she shifted and at first did not recognize him and when she did she brought this up”

I hold the container up to him and he takes it to examine it “what is this?” “ as it turns out, Carson had the same thing too, I had no idea he has been able to communicate with his wolf until today, that’s why he had been able to easily resist Astrid”

“Resist Astrid?” “hmm? Oh he’s her mate” “whaaaaat! She found her mate?! That's fantastic! Good for her!” “now both Carson and Alessa are in the medical wing unconscious since they spat this up, Franny discovered that it mimics whatever, so it mimicked their hearts”

“If Franny had not realized upon looking at it, it may have gone on for longer and who knows what would have happened, so right now they’re missing three quarts of their heart because that's how much of it this thing has copied, Franny said they need a solution fast or they will die and naturally both Cory and Astrid are devastated, I told her to give me Forty Eight hours to come up with a solution but I feel way out of my depth right now”

My father looks at me long and hard then places a hand on my shoulder “the best person to help you right now Ty, is not me but Roro” “Red?” “yes, Roro, it’s probably too late to go talk to her now but talk to her tomorrow, if she can’t help you then she’d find a way to do it”

“How are you so confident?” “just trust your old man huh, she’s the way to go” I look at him but say nor ask nothing more “alright dad, I’ll take your word for it and go talk to her tomorrow, sorry to bother you this late at night” “you’re no bother to me Ty and have you talked to her about the both of you?”

“No, no I haven’t and I don’t have any intention of bringing it up, not right now anyway, there’s too much going on and I haven’t even spoken to the council as of yet about Astrid finding her mate and me finding mine”
