I perk up when Red’s scent wafts down the corridor “Alpha, here she is” “thank you, dismissed’ he bows and heads back the way he came “hello Roho” “hi, what can I do for you?” “I want to show you something first then explain the situation after okay?” “okay”

I usher her into the room where Carson and Alessa are “what’s wrong with Carson?” she goes over to him and touches his face which makes Astrid growl but she doesn’t move her hand, she simply smiles at Astrid and then places her head on his chest and close her eyes.

“Get off him!” “Astrid, chill” “I’m sorry I can’t help it, sorry” “it’s fine, I’d of been concerned if you weren’t concerned” “how did you know?” “I’m observant, that’s my super power so to speak, I’ve seen the way you look at him, the yearning plus he told me about you” “he did?” Astrid smiles the first genuine one for a few days.

“Yes, what’s wrong with their heart beats?” I give her the container and she looks at it “where did you guys get Soul Snatchers from?” “Soul Snatchers? That’s what they are called?” Franny scoffs “she just made that up” “yes, that’s what they’re called, they’re usually placed in a drink, they’re generally very small at the time of introduction, get’s into the stomach and latches on, nibbles then makes it way through the blood stream up to the heart, ahhhh I get it, it took over their hearts!”

We get to the Botany and I swipe my card and move aside to let her in, here we grow a lot of rare herbs and plants “wow, you guys really have an impressive collection” she walks around carefully plucking what she wants, we go to the mixing station and she puts them into the bowl and grinds them, and as she works she scribbles down on a small note pad from her small one shoulder bag.

“Can I borrow your hand for a minute” I extend it “su-oww” a few drops of my blood drip into the bowl and she puts my finger into her mouth licking it, then stops when she realizes what she’s doing, “oh my goodness, I’m sorry, it’s a habit so it comes natural, apologies”

“What?!” “what?” “you’ve had other peoples hand in your mouth?” “desperate times call for desperate measures, what’s the problem?” I swallow my anger, she means well I know she does but this is not something a mate wants to hear, or maybe that’s just me, she drops three drops of something from a small vial in her pack “don’t ask, I am not willing to say but just know it will help” “okay”

“Alright it’s done, let’s go” I lock up and we head back to the hospital and up to the VIP wing, we get into the room and Cory and Astrid are laying on beds next to their mates, ready for operation “what are we doing now?” Cory sits up “what do you mean? You said you need a piece of our hearts”
