He hears my voice and instantly calms down and whimpers as he looks at me “he seems to recognize you, it was indeed a good idea to come get you” Adriel growls “Adriel, calm down, it’s me it’s Roze” he whimpers again and I can see recognition in his eyes as he looks at me, he sits down but never takes his eyes off me.

“How am I able to calm him down?”

“I suppose his mind still has you as his mate which is why he’s responded to you in such a way, which is odd as the forced bond is completely gone now so he should feel only his connection with Mali, unless-”

I look to them, they seem to be talking to each other telepathically as the Wards are not Lycans so they do have the mind link “unless what?” “oh sorry, we were just discussing among ourselves the possibility that Mali did the forced bond between you and Adriel but did not let him mark her, well I suppose that would be the most logical thing to do considering he was your supposed mate all these years, and now that it’s gone his Lycan has realized it’s been mated but not marked and claimed and thus went feral, or is on his way to be feral”

“So what do we do? How do we save him?”

They all look at me with a knowing look “he needs his mate your majesty, he needs to be marked and to mark his mate, it is the only way to save him, he recognizes you because physically you’re all he’s known but if he  sees Mali he will know that she is his fated”

“So, what exactly are you suggesting right now?”

“We suggest nothing my Empress we are merely saying that there are Two options, you either let him go feral and we obviously will end his life because feral Lycans are murderers and an elemental one will be much worse, he will become a blood thirsty monster and we simply can not allow that into the world or you let him mark and be marked by Mali”

“That seems to be such a cruel fate my lords, it’s like damned if you do and damned if you don’t because he will be marked and get to mark his mate but will not be able to be with her and if I do decide to kill her you know very well what it would do to him”

“So shall we just kill him now then?”

“NO!” I shout “how could you just say something like that so thoughtlessly?”

“Well we are not well known for our fluttering emotions your majesty, our decisions are always precise and void of any emotional ties, that is the way we have always been and always will be, it is how to keep the balance, emotions make people waver and sometimes makes things more complicated than they have to be you see, classic example, right now”

I sigh and look back at Adriel who is sitting and observing us, I walk over to him and squat down to where he is and he looks at me and turns leaning his head side ways to watch me, I slowly reach my hand out and touch his hand resting on the ground beside him.

“Adriel, my name is Roze, do you understand me?”

Slowly he nods and I smile “I need to tell you something and I need you to listen carefully okay”

One again he nods slowly “ you recognize me as your mate do you not?” he nods “but see, where I am touching you, there is nothing, no sparks, nothing” he tears his eyes away from me and looks down at my hand resting on his then back up at me as though confused “you see your true mate, is Mali and she is currently with pup, your pup, are you following me?” he nods again slowly.

“Mali used black magic to make us think that we were mates but in truth she was, well is your true mate and would mate with you and make you forget by recasting the spell upon you to make you think your mate was me and I am sorry but she is now in my dungeon because the dark arts are forbidden and she needs to be punished for her crimes, are you still with me?” he nods

“Now Adriel the problem is, right now because you’ve been without your true mate for so long, you and your Lycan are going feral and if you do go feral you will be killed, so the only other option would be for me to let you mark and mate with Mali and let her mark you but that would mean that whatever punishment I carry out on her after she gives birth to your pup will also affect you and you will spend the remaining time bonded but separated from your mate and I just don’t know what to do”

His chain rattles as he raises his hand to touch my face and his voice rings through my mind “want-mate” I smile sadly at him “okay”
