“ I really can’t understand the way that woman thinks, I mean it’s practically her fault that Vince turned out the way he is, even I know he’s a jerk and I have asked Roho in the past if she wants me to talk to him about leaving her alone and she declined-oww what was that for?”

“ For letting my baby girl suffer at the hands of a twerp”

“Did you not hear me say she declined the assistance?”

“It doesn’t matter, you could’ve done it without her knowing”

“As if the jerk wouldn’t have told her about it after, and perhaps that would have made things worse for her because it seems both him and Vinna thinks we play favourites when it comes to her so that would have just solidified their beliefs”

A thoughtful look crosses my mates face then she smiled “okay” was all she said as she separated herself from me and headed into the packhouse.

NEXT MORNING

“This way please Dawson”

Rose ushers me along to the Lunas office and I knock “come in please” I push the door and enter “ahh Dawson good morning, please sit down” I take a seat and she comes to sit next to me smiling kindly, Gods am I in some sort of trouble “ you must be wondering what I called you here for” “yes my Luna, that’s correct” “before I answer that, did that Alpha or Beta see you come here?” “no, they didn’t” she smiled a Grinchy kind of smile again “marvellous, I have a job I’d like for you to do for me please, it’s uhh how should I put it, personal for me, you get what I mean don’t you?”

She obviously means I should not tell anyone about it “I understand Luna, but you must know I will never be able to lie to the Alpha or Beta” “ohh it’s fine if they find out and ask you but only after you’ve completed my task and not before, okay?” “I must say, you’re causing me great concern here Luna Bea”

She chuckled, “it’s nothing too hard, it’s right up your ally anyway which is why I am asking you to do this for me, there is this young man who was hurt yesterday and is now placed under house arrest, he’s not allowed any visitors but you my dear doctor Dawson are a doctor so you can go to see him for me and you must take great care of him for me”

I look at her quizzically, “if he’s hurt, why is he under house arrest and not at the hospital? What happened to him?”

“You’ve finally asked the right question Dawson!” she moved closer “you see dear Dawson, he disrespected me by hurting our baby girl and using derogatory words to her and even had the audacity to put his hands on her and slap her precious face”

Anger courses through me because I know very well who she refers to as her baby girl, my baby girl, I shot from my chair “he what?!” “exactly!” “I’m gonna kill the fker, who is it?!”

“Vince Tomas” my jaw ticks and I can feel my wolf fighting to take over to go rip that boy apart for putting his hand on my child “were they sparring?” “no, she was trying to get them to do their training and he was against it using the news of the Alpha King’s announcement as an excuse” “and he slapped her for it? Just like that?!” “just like that! And even had the audacity to tell her that the slap would knock her down a few pegs too”

I growl “I’m sorry Luna, I didn’t mean to growl like that here”

“Ohh it’s perfectly fine, now you do understand why I need you to take utmost care of him don’t you?” she smiles at me.

I calm down and smile back at her putting on my professionalism “I completely understand my Luna and I will not disappoint you with my care” “marvellous, be on your way then I’m sure there is much to do” I bow and practically race out of her office closing the door behind me.

I leave the pack house ensuring the Alpha and Beta does not see me as I go as the Luna does not want them to know what we’re up to.

I get to my office and request the medical records for Mr. Tomas and give them a review, I smile to myself ‘ it seems our pup handled the situation very well, broken fingers and ribs’ my wolf states as I examine the chart and x-rays, hmm I suppose this rib right here could do with a bit of realignment and it wouldn’t hurt to do a reassessment on those fingers too now would it.

I pack my medical bag and let my Assistant know I’d be out for a bit, I normally do house calls so it would not be strange for persons to see me walking about with my bag.
