Taran's POV
I was the cursed wolf, the one that moon goddess couldn't pair with a mate.
I had accepted my fate a long time ago.
I found my mate today.
Sometimes we hunt under the snow mountain where few people went to. All of a sudden Cerberus picked up a scent and started running crazy. Cerberus was my wolf. He finally stopped after dashing into a meadow, and I saw the cutest girl I had ever laid my eyes on.
She was in a red cloak.
[Mine!] Cerberus growled impatiently. It was the first time I lost control over him in years. But I understood why. He had been waiting for his mate even when I had lost all hope.
But the horrified look on her face froze my blood.
She was afraid of me.
Of course she was afraid of rogues, and that included me. Cerberus felt hurt when she charged at us and I barely managed to pull him away.
I fled the pack, not sure what to make of it.
I wasn't supposed to have a mate.
Escaping from good things is Taran's instinct now
Willa's POV "I'm really sorry!" The man blurted, turning around with his back turned to me. For real?! I had a knife in my hand and he just turned around? I could have hurt him! I wrapped my cloak around myself, but it only reached half my thigh. I hugged the cloak tight with one hand, so I had to take my knife in the wounded one. "Who are you?!" I blushed as I called to him. He turned around cautiously, eyes darted to my knife. Was he a rogue?! That was my first thought. I sniffed the air slightly, but unlike rogues, he smelt clean and fresh, like autumn aspens after a thunderstorm. The moon cast a soft shine on him as if he was the center of the world. His dirty blonde hair was messy on top with an undercut, and the long fringe curled a little by his eyes. He was in a white shirt, but he didn't bother to button up to the highest one. I didn't allow my eyes to stop on his bare chest for too long, but I did see
Willa's POV [Why did you come back?] I asked granny as she companied me in the direction of the pack. [I saw a man through the mind link. Why didn't you tell me about him?] Granny walked slowly beside me. She saw him after all. [I can handle him if he wanted to hurt me. I didn't want you to worry!] I burst into laughter. [He's weird, stay away from him.] Granny suddenly warned me. Weirdly handsome and enchanting! [Why weird? Just because he came to the sea at night?] I came to the sea at night. Well, I guess I WAS also weird. [He has the aura of an Alpha, but something was off about him.] Granny said slowly, drowning in deep thoughts. [An Alpha?! Maybe we can join his pack next!] I almost jumped for the excitement. [I just told you to stay away!] Granny shot me a glare. I grunted in frustration. [Relax...He didn't even want to let me know his pack's name, I can't get close even if I wanted to.] I
Willa's POV I woke up on my own bed, didn't even know how I got there. I must have dozed off in the Alpha's arm. Last night was so dreamy that it didn't feel real. But I knew it was real because it left a sting. [Willa, how did you sleep?] Granny mind linked me and I put it through right away with an apology. [I'm sorry I ran off last night, granny.] I had never argued with granny like that, but I had messed up enough times to practice my apology. [I understand. I'm trying to locate the Alpha from last night.] Surprisingly, granny answered gently. I almost mistook her as Antonia. [No need! It was just a stupid crush.] I blushed. He had a mate! What could I do even if I found him? [Are you sure? I mean, you might like it if we move to his pack.] Granny asked with a serious tone. To watch him being with another? I might turn Natasha-mode. No thanks. [Maybe it's the goddess way of telling me I don't belong to anyone.] I si
Willa's POV I decided to stock on the material of my potions. Granny made me potions for two whole weeks and we were short of the materials. Cattail seeds, barley, and lemon leaves, all common stuff. I was turning on my last corner when I saw from the corner of my eye that a dark shadow flickered through the small woods on my left. Leave it be. I needed to steer clear of trouble as much as I could! I took a deep breath, trying to resist the urge to go and check, and it was that deep breath that got me in trouble-- I smelled blood. I guess smelling blood in a wolf pack was not strange as the sun rising up from the west, but it smelled close, and curiosity got the best of me. Just take a look, and if anything serious happened, I'd just call for help and leave. I promised myself as I took the right turn-- Which was the wrong turn obviously. The moment I set foot into that alley, I not only smelled more blood but al
Willa's POV "James is the beta! You are definitely going to learn your place today!" Rachel smirked at me. I backed slowly with Scarlett. Getting kicked out of the pack was no longer the most urgent problem. The problem was the murderous man in front of me. I couldn't defeat a beta, not without my wolf. Keep my secret and lose my limbs, or mind link the Alpha and tell him I got into trouble bullying his mate's sister... The latter was probably still worse. James picked up his steps at me, and I swallowed hard. I pulled Scarlett behind me as I gripped hard on my wounded hand till it bled. A dark thought formed in my head -- if I were to kill him right there, as well as Rachel, was there any way to get away with it? I didn't get the chance to pull off that dark plan-- "James." A low, calm voice rose behind James. James stopped right away as if he was frozen. We all darted our eyes at the voice. Of all the
Willa's POV Al's last words made my heart leap so high that I worry it might jump out of my throat. My world turned colorful again! I still couldn't carve, but this time it was because I was too excited. In the end, I just curled up in bed with the pillow cramped between my legs, smiling to the wall like a moron. I was still cheered up the next morning when I made myself a simple breakfast. The sting was gone after the best sleep I got in a very long time, and the idea of sneaking out to the sea suddenly became fun again! Before I could get out, I heard a knock on the door. I opened the door to Alpha Kirsch, wasn't sure whether I hide my frustration well with my deadpan. How did he manage to be there every time when I JUST thought about sneaking out?! "Good morning, Alpha." I bowed a little, "To what do I owe this pleasure?" He frowned a little. "I was asked to watch over you." Said Alpha Kirsch reluctantly, dar
Taran's POV I was sitting on the cliff edge, watching the sea. The roaring of the sea soothed the beast residing inside me. The area of the small woods and the coast outside of the pack's border was my nest. I was so enchanted by the view that I didn't even notice the noise from behind me until it got too close. But of all the people, I didn't think it would be my mate. She should be safely inside the pack. But she looked so excited to see me, and that made my heart leap. I had never been happier than the moment when she begged me to not hunt the silver beast. She thought I wasn't totally lost, and that meant the world to me. In my heart rose a hope, a hope too pretty that I didn't dare believe in-- Maybe instead of the delicate dream that I couldn't have, she just might be my redemption? I started missing her the moment she left the beach. I followed her and the red wolf into the woods. I didn't know they were arguing
Willa's POV I dashed into town from the woods near 7. I never knew there were any similar cases like mine before. But he said he was only poisoned after he lost his wolf, which was the exact opposite to my case. I was confused. But more importantly, terrified. He lost his wolf just like me, but he was 26 now. Does that mean that I might also not get my wolf back? Could it be that my poison was actually the same disease he had, and granny only lied to me about my wolf would wake up at 18? Coldness grabbed my heart, but it only got colder when I heard a sneer from behind me. I turned around reluctantly, and I saw Rachel standing in front of me, smirking in her black one-piece with two huge wolves on each of her sides, baring their teeth at me. I didn't notice, swimming in the million questions in my head, but I was actually passing the school, I had an advantage over them when they were in human forms, but not when they a
