KIERAN’S POV.

I sat behind my desk, sleeves rolled up, tie loosened, staring at files that refused to give me good news. The project was going well. It was on every news outlet, the whole world had their eyes on it. Yet, what seems to be a breakthrough for me felt like another trap set by Paul.

The whole world was praising him, like he was some kind of god responsible for my creation and my brains.

And worse of all — the board was slipping from my hands.

I flipped another page, my jaw tight.

I tried to push my worries out but they only increased.

What was I thinking? My grandfather didn't earn the title “world most dangerous man” by thinking the same way I do.

He made it clear that I could only become the leader of the company if I got married and had a kid but until then, Paul had all the say.

I was so stupid to think I could out smart him. The whole board hates me, and Paul is using that to get a stand in the company. They will never accept me and will do anything in their po

  • MARRIED TO MY EX FIANCE'S STEP BROTHER    The only hand left.

MICHELLE’S POVI sat on the edge of my bed in my small apartment, staring at the peeling paint near the window, trying to make sense of how fast my life was falling apart.I still haven't told my mother that I lost the only job that would have at least got a decent bread on our table. She was in the small living area, sitting on the couch with her laptop balanced on her knees. Her hair was wrapped in a scarf, her face tired but focused. She was scrolling through a job site, reading out loud sometimes, muttering to herself.“Receptionist… no, too far,” she said. “Cleaner… part-time only.” She sighed and kept scrolling.Guilt twisted in my chest. She shouldn’t be doing this. She should be resting. Not worrying about money or jobs or me.“Michelle,” she called softly. “Come look at this one with me.”I forced myself to stand and walked over. I leaned beside her, pretending to read the screen. My mind was far away, still stuck with how we are going to manage our life. The only good thin

  • MARRIED TO MY EX FIANCE'S STEP BROTHER    Breathless.

MICHELLE’S POV. Break time was supposed to be a short escape. I sat alone at the little table near the back, staring at the bank notice on my phone. The numbers… didn't make sense. My debt was so big that it looked like some billionaire’s fortune. And just looking at it sent shivers down my spine. “Whoa. Michelle… why does it look like you’re staring at Bill Gates’ net worth?”I flinched and quickly laughed, hiding the phone in my apron pocket.“It's nothing,” I said, forcing a smile.Lana didn’t buy it. She leaned on the table, eyes narrowing at me. “Really? With those numbers that big is either you were a billionaire who got broke or something.”“Trust me,” I laughed. “It's none.”“So? How did you end up with numbers so big and a broke ass job?” She asked, taking a sip of her coffee. “Life,” I shrugged, slowly getting up. “Life?” She laughed. “Life happens,” I defended, hoping the topic will shift to something less bothering — my debt. “Yeah,” she nodded. “But not Bill Gates

  • MARRIED TO MY EX FIANCE'S STEP BROTHER    Five minutes

MICHELLE’S POVTwo weeks. That was all it took for my life to shrink into something smaller, tighter, and unbearably loud. Two good long weeks since Kieran Castellan and I parted ways. Two weeks of sleepless nights, overdue notices, and constant complaining. I tied the apron around my waist and stared at my reflection in the restaurant’s narrow mirror. In order to make ends meet, I had to take a job and the only job I could find was a waitress job. I hated it but I had no choice. My debt—millions of it—loomed over me like a joke the universe refused to stop laughing at. I just had to repay it some way — even if I will use the rest of my life paying the unending debt. “Table seven,” my coworker called. “He’s been waiting.”I grabbed the notepad and forced a polite smile onto my face as I approached the table. The man sitting there looked out of place—tailored coat, expensive watch, the kind of posture that screamed money even when he said nothing.“What can I get you?” I asked, a

  • MARRIED TO MY EX FIANCE'S STEP BROTHER    When mercy dies.

KIERAN’S POV. I walked away, leaving Michelle behind like a memory I didn't want to look back at. Like a bad memory that made me stronger but better left in the past. God, I wanted to kill her the moment I found out that she fell into my trap. I even gave her a second chance, which she failed again — woefully. And the Castellan's aren't popular for giving people second chances. Adrian had warned me, and now I knew he was right. Pushing her to the edge had only made things worse. But it wasn’t regret I felt. The only thing I regretted was trusting her.I walked over to my car. I started it, the engine’s roar matching the pounding of my heart. I pressed my foot to the accelerator, and we shot forward, the city streets blurring around me.“How could she?” I muttered under my breath, gripping the steering wheel. “All that I did… and she still betrayed me. After everything…”The speedometer climbed too fast, but my thoughts raced even faster. The only thing I was thinking about right no

  • MARRIED TO MY EX FIANCE'S STEP BROTHER    Playing god.

MICHELLE’S POVI sat across from Kieran in the coffee shop, still unable to believe what had just unfolded before me. I couldn’t believe anything he had just said. I knew it had to be a joke. There is no way he would plan something as serious and wicked as this. He picked up his cup and took a slow sip, calm and collected, like we were just two coworkers meeting for a casual break.“You are joking?” I frowned, tears flowing down my cheeks. “Tell me everything you said was a joke.”His lips curled into a faint smile. There wasn't even any sign of remorse or shame on his face. Just that cold arrogant look. “You know well that it wasn’t a joke,” he replied calmly. “How?” I whispered. “How could you do this? How could you use my mother like that? Why would you do that?!” He sighed, clearly annoyed. “I told you, it was for a test which you failed woefully.”“A test?” I scoffed, unable to believe him. “You did all this for a test?” He leaned back in his chair. “I needed to know if I c
