ANOTHER BETRAYAL.

Eleanor POV

The surprise came unexpectedly to her. Her mouth opened unintentionally, and within a few seconds she lost appetite to eat the remaining portion of her food.

A heavy silence followed her sudden outburst. “You’ll leave me alone in this house tonight?” She asked me, her voice trembling under the weight of her fright.

Her hands flew to cover her mouth. I'm very sure the short minutes seem like a dream to her, the one she hasn't woken up from all this while.

I gave her a quick, calm and relaxed expression to calm her troubled soul.

“It will only happen once, tonight only.”

She shook her head, clearly displeased. “I’m not comfortable with that,” she said firmly, her tone edged with irritation. “But I’ll manage since it’s just for tonight. I hope this doesn’t happen again?”

I shook my head firmly. “It won't happen again.” I whispered with assurance and confidence.

I left when evening came and went straight to Crystal house. I met him at home. I slammed her

FROM COLLAPSE TO CONNECTION Anne's POV The ambulance finally arrived, its piercing siren slicing through the air and faintly reaching my dull, fading ears. I could barely make out the commotion around me—the hurried footsteps, the scrape of the stretcher wheels, and the anxious voices calling out instructions. “Handle her carefully,” I heard one of those people approaching me to place me on the stretcher. My body felt weightless, my vision blurry, and all I could see were flashes of red and white lights flickering above me as I drifted in and out of consciousness. When they lifted me into the ambulance, the world around me felt distant and strange — a blur of motion, sound, and fading color. I could hear muffled voices shouting commands, the hum of the engine, and the rhythmic beeping of a machine beside me. My body felt cold, my limbs heavy and unresponsive. Every breath I took was a struggle, and the edges of my vision dimmed like a curtain slowly closing.“Stay with us, miss! W

A SUDDEN COLLAPSEAnne's POVThe next morning, after a long night of little sleep, I made a decision that I was going to get myself busy with work, not having in mind any relationship from any man.I stood before the small mirror in Eva’s guest room, brushing my hair and staring at the face that looked back — pale, tired, but resolute. I had lost love, trust, and peace, but not myself. Not entirely. That afternoon, I set out to find work. The sun was bright but not kind; its heat clung to my skin as I walked from one street to another. My shoes gathered dust, and my body ached, but I refused to give up. I entered a few stores, asked politely, waited for replies — mostly rejections. Then, at the corner of Maple Street, I saw a small restaurant with a handwritten sign that read “Now hiring-waitress.”I paused, staring at it for a long moment.Taking a deep breath, I stepped inside. The air smelled of freshly cooked food — warm, homely, alive. Behind the counter, a woman in her forties w

I LEFT THEM Anne's POV “I am done!” I yelled, my voice breaking with sorrow but quite strong as I advanced toward the road to take a taxi. Eleanor who had been lamenting and sobbing profusely kept calling and begging me. “You can't just leave me alone like that, Anne.” I will not change my mind to walk out on falsehood friends and ex-boyfriend who I was about to give another chance for love but turned out to be deceiving me. I can't do that anymore. “No!” I finally said, as I sank into the leather chair inside the commercial car. The driver sped off. I have said no to her, and her belongings and not just the apartment, but the version of me that still believed in second chances. I reminded myself that I might not believe in love again as I was staring at the rearview mirror, tears streaming down my cheeks. Within a few minutes, I had been soaked and wracked with tears. I don't know where I am even heading to. I just boarded the vehicles and told him to drive straight o

WALK OUT AGAIN. Anne's POV After days of uncertainty, of replaying his words and my hesitation, I had finally decided to stop fighting what I felt. Maybe he really means it this time, I told myself. Maybe he’s truly changed. The corners of my lips lifted slightly as I imagined his reaction when I’d tell him yes. I could already hear Eleanor teasing me when I got home, could see her smile when I’d admit that I’d finally agreed to give Crystal a chance. Everything was going to make sense now. Everything would fall into place. Or so I thought. The moment I reached his door, I hesitated — something in the air felt… strange. I could hear faint movement, muffled voices, and a soft laugh. I frowned. My fingers hovered over the doorknob. Maybe I should knock. The sound became clearer to me each second. I could hear the moaning of a lady. I grew nervous, and pushed the door open. My eyes widened with shock when I saw them having sexual intercourse on the bed. Crystal was serious

IMMINENT BETRAYAL.Eleanor POV.I burst into laughter barely a moment before the pain relieved me. I bent slightly as my laughter echoed through the kitchen. I stood there, half-angry, half-amused.“You think you’re funny?” I said, trying to hide my own smile.“Worked, didn’t it?” I faintly heard Anne's voice and chuckled. I wiped tears of laughter from my eyes.I shook my head, finally smiling. “You’ll still tell me about Crystal,” I said firmly, wagging my finger.I laughed again, but deep down, my words stirred something she was trying hard to hide. The pain finally declined and turned off the cooker. I initially followed her, dashed out of the kitchen to confront her tricks and the effects on my trembling fingers. “Anne!” I yelled, my voice thundering across the room, oozing urgency and confrontation. I quickly stepped forward, and I found her, turning her back to me, with the remote control on her hand flipping through multiple channels to watch movies.“Eleanor, I'm busy as you
