LOGIN“Get your hands off me!” I wailed but he was not yielding. I tried pushing him away but his build made it look like I was a little girl punching a giant wall. His eyes were filled with desire and he looked at me tastefully, like he wasn't hearing my plea. “You have done enough, I warned you. Didn't I?” Jeremy squeezed my arm. He tore my cloth and squeezed my breast like he had waited all his life to do it. He lifted me like an object and threw me on his bed. “Wait, did he just slide his finger inside me?!” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jeremy Koch, a vengeful, possessive and overprotective mafia boss who is just a young CEO in the eyes of the public bullied the innocent Nora Miller back in college days because he thought it would suppress his feelings for her. He decided to buy her from her mother, Mrs Miller, who is a drunk, gambler and prostitute, under the pretense that Mrs Miller was getting married to his father, Mr Koch. A lot of secrets started getting revealed to Nora when she started living with Jeremy. She knew Jeremy had a dark side but she never knew it was darker than she thought and he was ready to get darker for her. Turns out his dark side has an effect on her past. “Don't forget to meet me at Sips cafe,” My mother yelled from the kitchen. She has been so restless, she seemed to want to discuss something with me since she got back from wherever she went to two nights ago.
“I won't forget” I replied, breathing heavily, I was hopping on one foot trying to fit into my black shoe.
Today is my first day at work and I have to make a good impression. My mother got this job for me– I know it sounds funny considering she hasn’t exactly been the best mother. But I was desperate for a job so I just accepted the offer when she presented it.
“Please, hold the elevator!!” I screamed running in the hallway. A lady my age was kind enough to help.
While I tried to catch my breath in the elevator, I overheard some of my colleagues whisper about welcoming the new boss of the company that day.
“Shit, I need to be on my toes today!!” My thoughts slipped out of my mouth.
“Sorry?” The lady who held the elevator asked me as she widened her eyes.
“Ohh, not you, my apologies,” I faked a smile.
Guess I am already ruining my relationship with my colleagues on the first day.
“It's fine, let me guess…You are new here.” She said patting my back which felt weird by the way.
“Yeah, I am new here”
“I see you are going to the 60th floor, that's where I am heading too.” She interrupted my reply.
“Yeahh, the 60th floor. What is you-?”
“My name is Tiffany, you can call me Tee for short” She interrupted, grinning from ear to ear.
“Tiffany is such a pretty name, I guess I'll just stick to it.” I replied, trying so hard to match up her energy. She is so bubbly and all over the place.
“Well, I am also new here, errrr–” She dragged her words trying to remember my name that she did not ask for as she wiggled her index finger in my face.
“Nora, My name is Nora.” I saved her from the stress of hurting my ears.
“Yes, Nora. Today is al-”
“Wait! What!! A newbie, I thought you have been an employee for a little over two years,” I was puzzled.
“I interned in this company two years ago, so you can say I am not totally a newbie.” She said with a wide smile running across her face again.
“Well, I hope we get along.” I said, patting her back.
Yeah, It was my turn to pat her back. I thought she had been an employee in the company for a long time because of the way she spoke to me. I know she didn't mean any harm but she is just so bubbly and hyper. I don't think we can be on the same wavelength.
What seemed like forever later came to an end, the elevator was finally opened and I could only appreciate the fresh breeze that hit me when I got out after being cooped there with a lot of people.
I was walking forward, when someone grabbed my arm. “Nora, it is that way,” She pointed in the opposite direction. As embarrassing as it was, I could only thank her and smile.
“This floor is the most respected floor, this is called the VIP floor because the Boss's office is on this floor.” She whispered as she held me closely.
“Why are you whispering?” I whispered too.
Just as we were walking towards the office with the tag ‘Newbies’ Orientation,’ a familiar scent hit my nose. The smell of smoky oud and a hint of whiskey. “Don't tell me th-”
“What is the name of this company again?” I turned to face Tiffany who seemed to have dropped something. I saw her jaw dropped, just when I turned to see what made her jaw drop, I saw…
“JEREMY KOCH!!”
He walked past me with that sense of aura, he reeked of unwavering authority and influence. He pretended not to see me just as he did eight years ago.
I ran over to Tiffany who was literally drooling. “Tiffany, Tiffany, you are drooling all over your sweater,” I tapped her out of her thoughts.
“Ohh, my days!! That is definitely the boss, the almighty Jeremy Koch.” She was still in awe of Jeremy's grand entrance which he put no effort into but was still awesome as she wiped her sweater with my handkerchief.
“Wait!! My handkerchief, that's gross. Why would you do that?!” I yanked it from her.
“I see you are one of those girls who fancy Jeremy,” I whispered softly as we made our way to our seats in the orientation office.
“Yeahh, I literally cried when I came here for my internship and he was not yet the boss. I made up my mind since then that I'd definitely work here when he is the boss and Voila!!” She said grinning from ear to ear.
“Wow! Good for you!” I smiled sarcastically.
“By the way, girl, you do not want to be caught calling him by his name. Show some respect!!”
“Pfft” I blew raspberries and concentrated on the moderator.
The door of the office room flew open and a lady in her twenties walked in, it turns out she was Jeremy's secretary. She looked so elegant and poised.
“Miss Nora Miller, the CEO, requested you to his office,” She spoke elegantly.
At this point, all eyes were on me and I was surprised myself, I don't think I am mentally prepared to be alone in the same room with Jeremy. For me to be singled out on the first day of work, I knew I had eyes on me already.
The secretary led me into his office and left immediately. My palm was began to sweat, my feet felt ice cold. I scanned the room but he was nowhere to be found.
“Miss Nora Miller,” Jeremy called from behind. I nearly jumped out of my skin.
JEREMYI left the VIP room in all hopes that Nora would listen to me and go home because I was not sure how the meeting with the Venom clan was going to end.“Venom clan’s in the east wing,” Denver said, falling into step beside me. His tone had changed—low, alert, all business now. “They came in armed, Jeremy. They said they wanted to talk, but you and I both know what that means.”“I know,” I said flatly. “Let’s hear them out before I decide who dies first.”I didn’t let the word ‘armed’ change my pace. Threats were part of the job. Betrayals were the part that never got any easier. “Then let them speak,” I said. “We’ll see what kind of courage they brought with their mouths.”We turned down the hallway that led to the private back lounge—a place built for discreet deals, far from the music and chaos of the main club. Two of my men flanked the door, guns visible under their jackets. They stepped aside as I pushed the door open. The Venom clan was already there. Five of them, dressed
NORAJeremy snapped my fingers and the bouncers moved like trained dogs. The VIP booth emptied faster than I expected, people who had been laughing a second ago now scrambled out, eyes lowered, heels clacking.Denver stayed behind, rubbing his jaw like he had a headache. He was trying to be useful, but Jeremy told him to leave too, not in a disrespectful way. I didn’t move. I sat there like a portrait, one leg crossed over the other.“You want something,” I said. “Want something? Why the fuck are you at a club?” He furiously said.I scrunched my nose. “The same reason you are here… To have fun.” Anger lingered in his eyes. I still sat there like the main character and watched his face burn red with anger.I didn’t plan on going to the club. Laurel is the club person but she coerced me into going because she wanted to ‘cheer me up.’ But, I knew it was because she had a huge crush on one of the bartenders. She spoke about him anytime she got the chance she got to.I never knew the cl
JEREMYI paced back and forth in my study. I could not get the image of Nora in that red dress out of my head. And the email? She sounded like she didn't need me anymore. My laptop chimed. I ran to it thinking it was Nora.My anxiety changed to dissapointment on seeing Denver’s text. “Remember the meeting by 10am.”“Cancel the meeting. I don't owe them anymore. I only decided to marry Madison, not because they suggested it but because it was the best decision for the council. I am their capo and they should learn to respect that.” I typed furiously and hit the send button.“Club by 10pm tonight.” I added.I clenched my jaw. Of course. Work. The one thing that never let me breathe.“Cancel the meeting,” I typed sharply. “I don’t owe them anything. I agreed to marry Madison because it was best for the council, not because they suggested it. I’m their capo—they should remember that.”I hit send and leaned back, exhaling. My reflection on the dark laptop screen looked like a stranger. Ey
NORAZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. A call from Laurel got me out of bed.“Laurel, it’s 5:34 a.m.” My voice was hoarse, thick with sleep.“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Girl, what did I see on your I*******m? You looked stunning in that red dress.” Her voice was way too bubbly for that hour.I rubbed my eyes, squinting at the dim light slipping through my curtains. “You woke me up to talk about a dress?”“Yes, ma’am! Because that was not just any dress. That was a statement. You were giving the main character soft revenge.”Laurel always had that bright energy. “You’re ridiculous.” I couldn’t help but smile.“And you love me,” she said, laughing. “Come on, spill. What happened last night? I saw Jeremy in one of the background clips.” I sighed, leaning against my headboard. “It was his engagement dinner, after all”There was silence. “And…?”“And nothing,” I said softly. “I walked in, he looked... shocked, I guess. Everyone went quiet for a second. Then dinner went on.”Laurel hummed dramatically. “Mmmmm
JEREMYNora looked like sin wrapped in the red dress. The red dress clung to her like it was made for her— every curve, every breath, every quiet defiance captured in fabric. The color wasn’t just red, it was the kind that made people stop mid-sentence.It shimmered faintly under the bright lights of the chandelier, tracing the shape of her hips as if the dress itself worshipped her body. Her shoulders were bare, delicate, and her neckline dipped just enough to tease, not beg. The slit up her thigh made it impossible not to look twice. Her hair fell softly over one shoulder, framing her face perfectly well. And her eyes… her eyes? It looked fiery. She looked dangerous in that dress.“Glad you could join us.” Don Sullivan's thick voice brought me out of my thoughts.“You know the dress color on the invitation was black, right?” Madison couldn’t wait for her to sit before resuming her bickering.Nora tilted her head, a faint smile playing on her lips as she met Madison’s stare.“I kno
Chapter 37JEREMYThe smell of oud filled the air as I adjusted my tie and glanced at the clock. It was 7:30 a.m. I was running late for a meeting at the office with the shareholders, but I didn’t care much. My mind has been elsewhere lately. I have been restless, distracted, hovering between what I had and what I would lose. I had not seen Nora since she went on a driving spree and Laurel and Denver advised me not to call her for a while. In her words. “Give her the space she needs for now.”I used the elevator since I was in a hurry. I walked over to the console table to pick my coffee. My chef knows best to place my coffee on the table every morning.I could smell Nora’s cologne even though the smell of the espresso tried to overshadow it. I looked around but she was not on the dining table.I bent over to pick my coffee and my keys slipped from my pocket, straight underneath the table.“Fuck!” I bent over to pick it and that was when I noticed it. A cream-colored envelope. The sea
