Chapter 19 – The Queen Follows

A break in space similar to the one Solene saw during the attack in the hotel appeared inside her room. Black dust swirled on every edge until it collected into one spot near the bed. In its center, boots appeared first, then black pants and a half-unbuttoned red shirt.

Solene was sitting in a chair near the fireplace when this happened. Immediately, she stood up and tossed the unwanted visitor a scowl.

Caym granted her a sneak-peek of a grin beyond his mask in reply, already expecting she’d do this. Already expecting she was unlike the other women who usually throw themselves to his feet.

“Mistress Nakti is losing her touch,” he began while inclining his head to the side, inspecting her with his red eyes. “I expected you to be dressed in fine clothes, yet here you are still in y
