"I would definitely open the door if Doctor Escobar comes knocking. There's absolutely no way I would leave him outside and you know that" Kelly explained, trying to justify his reasons for shutting the door.
Despite the departure of Dexter, Kelly still wasn't satisfied. Fear was written over his face.
He had a bad feeling that Dexter might be hiding somewhere, waiting for someone to open the door before showing up unannounced.
"Kelly? Can you please come forward? I want to have a word with you," George called out in fatigue and went into a silent mode. He completely lost his voice and strength to yell at Kelly.
George recently underwent a serious heart operation the previous night. It may take a while before he returns to winning ways again. For that reason, he's trying his best not to get into a heated argument with anyone and that's precisely what Kelly is doing to him.
"I sincerely don't want to engage in a heated argument with you. You know about my condition, don't you? Why are you making life difficult for me? I still don't understand your mission here." George managed to speak after hoarding the utterances for some couple of minutes.
In normal circumstances, he would have ignored Kelly's antics but for some reason, he was forced to speak. He feels that Kelly was hiding something. He just can't wrap his head around it. Whatever it is Kelly was hiding, George was prepared to find out soon.
Kelly edged closer to George just to protect his secret. He knew that it was only a matter of time before George uncovers his secret.
"The door is shut now. I did as you instructed. You have nothing to worry about anymore. I apologize if I have caused you any inconvenience."
Kelly apologized the moment he returned to George. He showed a bit of remorse to prove to George that he was truly sorry.
Unbothered by his sudden change of mind, George asked. "Why do I believe you are hiding something from me? Where's my son?"
"Your son?" Kelly stuttered and pretended not to know what George was talking about.
"Really, Kelly?
Are we going to do this right now? Why do you keep acting this way? Are you going to pretend as though you don't know who I'm talking about?" George applied the pressure. He was sick and tired of acting calm towards Kelly. He noticed that Kelly was taking advantage of his calmness.
"Oh, Dexter?" Kelly finally regained himself.
"Sorry, my bad.
I had no idea you were talking about him. He left this morning," Kelly added.
"Dexter this morning and you expect me to believe you? How was that even possible? Try another joke, please. This one isn't working." George sparked outrageously. It took a while before he could respond as he spent more time thinking about Kelly's explanation.
"Exactly what I said, George. My daughter left this morning. I asked her to go home. If you're doubting me, you can call Dexter and find out for yourself. I have no reason to lie to you," Kelly further buttressed. From the outside, he might speak with confidence but deep down, he was praying so hard that George won't proceed to call Dexter over the phone.
"I can't believe Dexter left without coming to see me first. Have I become so terrible that my son won't even have regard for me anymore?" George bemoaned. His eyes were reddish. It was only a matter of time before tears started dropping down his cheek.
Kelly faced the opposite direction to smile. He knew for sure that his lie worked on George.
Never for once, did he think it was gonna workout, hence his restless heartbeat.
"Don't say that, George. It wasn't your fault that it turned out this way. I'm pretty sure that you've done your best to raise your sons to the men you want them to become," Kelly advised. He was trying to make up for the lie to avoid George from asking more implicating questions.
"Can I advise you as a friend? I don't know how it would sound to you," Kelly suggested.
"Go on with it,' George consented without having to think about it.
"Once you get discharged, call your son and have a deep conversation with him. I am pretty sure that you two would be able to sort out your difference," Kelly implored. His utterances were too notched. George witnessed another version of Kelly that hasn't been witnessed before.
"I am quite impressed with how you stood up for me," George admitted. He couldn't help but applaud Kelly for his brilliance.
"It's good to know that you still got that magic in you. I want you to know that I never stopped trusting your guts. I also wanna use this opportunity to apologize for denying you the life you would have wanted for yourself," George spoke tirelessly and got Kelly confused. The latter couldn't understand what George was talking about.
"Now you're messing with my head. This isn't about Dexter, is it?" Asked, Kelly. He tried to rack his head and ended up losing a few brain cells.
"It's not about Dexter.
I thought you understand what I am talking about," George clarified. It still wasn't enough to make Kelly understand what was really going on.
"I don't exactly follow.
If it's not about Dexter, then who are you talking about?"
"Hold on a second.
Your daughter didn't tell you?"
George proceeded to mess with Kelly's head with yet another provocative question.
Leaning towards George, Kelly gazed. "Can you get on with this immediately? If I knew what you were talking about, I wouldn't be asking you about it. My reaction should make you understand that I'm lost in deep thoughts,"
"Your daughter, Ciara had an intended conversation with me the day you were at my Mansion trying to convince Dexter to come over. And trust me, it wasn't funny," George provided an insight. He paused afterward to catch his breath. He carefully selected his utterances to avoid getting on Kelly's nerves. He already saw how gutted Kelly had become.
"What are you scared of? I don't bite. Come on, take the envelope from me and stop acting like a baby already. An officer like you shouldn't be fidgeting. Have you forgotten what I told you about being courageous? You never can tell, it might be your letter of promotion," Lucas said. Romeo saw that as a trick and refused to fall for it. Without hesitation, he went on his knees immediately and pleaded for Lucas forgiveness. "I am sorry for the things I did to you. None of them were intentional. I've learned my lessons now. Please, I don't want to end up like Tony. I deserve a second chance,"The dismissal of Tony still lives rent-free in Romeo's head like a movie. He wouldn't want his situation to be like that. "You don't want to end up like Tony, right? That's quite ambitious if you ask me," Lucas scoffed."I don't know what you are talking about. I can't recall what happened to Tony. Can you please remind me?" "You dismissed him because of Dexter Cooper, sir. Not just that, he als
"He needs to reach out to his Father. His Father is not even aware that he's been arrested," Romeo pleaded. He was ready to scrub both knees on the tiled floor just to prove how serious he was. "Now this is getting more serious than I expected. How much did Dexter pay you to do this for him? Because I mean, you can't go this for a total stranger you know nothing about," Rhoda confronted Romeo with the disturbing question."Excuse me?" Romeo fumed. "What do you take me for? Do you think I'm one of those hungry-looking cops out there who would sell their dignity for money?" "Perhaps, she might be right. No one knows the reason you are doing this," A masculine voice interrupted them from close range. The voice sounded like Lucas. Where Romeo was, he prayed silently and wished it wasn't Lucas. Lucas, so far, has proved to be Romeo's greatest fear ever. He wasn't even confident enough to look into Lucas' eyes and speak to him directly, let alone confront him. "Good evening, Boss. You ar
"I am listening to you Romeo. Since you got here, you haven't said anything worthy of my attention. I just hope I am not wasting my time with you? Because I was doing something significant before you showed up," Rhoda raised the concern. What Rhoda was concerned about was Romeo's lack of confidence. She didn't know him to be this shaky to the extent where he could barely speak fluently to save his life."Of course not. I assure you, you're not gonna regret having this conversation with me, and I am not even kidding," Romeo created the assurance. He paused afterward. Rhoda signaled him to speak further, but he missed the sign. Romeo made it seem like that both placed a bet on the last person to hold his breath for too long."What the fuck do you think you are doing? You've been quiet for some time now. I should have known that you were just wasting my time. What exactly do you want me to do for you? And I do hope it's something I can handle?" Rhoda asked for clarification. Romeo's a
Dexter struggled to keep up with Romeo's tempo. At the same time, he struggled to breathe properly. He hasn't seen anything like that before. The taunting from Romeo got into Dexter's head. But what was he going to do about it? Absolutely nothing! He was willing to endure the present struggle and hope for a better tomorrow. Dexter was quite aware of his numerous tortures in the hands of Jaguar and would rather not go back to that phase anymore. No one has ever inflicted so much pain on Dexter before since he was born. Not even his beloved Father or late mother.Jaguar treated Dexter as though Dexter were his biological son. It was an ugly experience for Dexter. He would give up an arm to forget about it. "Take a look at these bunch of keys. What do they mean to you? Do they ring a bell to you, or do you want me to spell it out so you would understand perfectly well what I am talking about?" Romeo asked, flashing the keys to the cell across Dexter's face. "They're the keys to y
"Welcome to your new cell, Dexter Cooper. I hope you do like it here. What the heck am I saying? Surely, are going to love it. I mean, it's surely better than your Father's palatial mansion, isn't it?" Romeo teased Dexter with a burst of wicked laughter after they arrived at a new cell. Looking at it alone, Dexter hated it. He chose not to say a word about it to avoid getting on Romeo's nerves. . It turns out that the former cell was more attractive and conducive than the new one Romeo brought Dexter to. The only difference there was Jaguar and his boys that made life a living hell for Dexter. Dexter spent lots of time scrutinizing in his new home. He was filled with regret and wished he hadn't wished for a transfer. But the thought of being beaten to death by Jaguar still scares him to death. "What are you going to say about this? You are taking too much time on something that isn't even worth that stress, and I don't like it. Are we going to spend the entire day talking about
"What do you expect me to do about this now? I still can't believe that are seriously seeking for my help. Everything is still a dream to me. Someone should please wake me up from the illusion before I go insane," Romeo said, slapping his chin to be certain he wasn't imagining things that aren't real. He still wasn't convinced about his decision yet. If Romeo was made to decide immediately without thinking about it, he would chose to walk away from the case just like every other cops. Not for once did Romeo liked Dexter. These two has got a lot of history together. Thinking about the nastiest things that Dexter had done in the past is making Romeo have a second guess. "Please, take me to a new cell. I might end up dead once you leave. These guys are threatened to torture me to death. Please come to my rescue. I don't wanna die," Dexter pleaded as hot tears rolled down his eyes. "You wanna be transferred to another cell? Now I see why you're being dealt with. What have you been
