Chapter 25 - Missing

Elijah's POV

"Elisse, open the door!!"

He knocked on the door continuously since he couldn't open it. He just wanted to talk to Charlotte and explain what he had done earlier, which seemed to have upset her.

"Hey! Open the door, Elisse!!"

He turned the key again to unlock the door, but despite his efforts, it remained closed. His sister had done something to stop him from entering. He tightened his fist and slammed the door hard.

"Stop it, Elijah! You'll break the door!" Elisse shouted inside the room. He leaned through the small opening in the door.

"I don't care! Let Charlotte out!"

"Your wife doesn't want to come out because of what you're doing, Elijah!"

He stopped turning the key. He sighed heavily. "Let her out; we need to talk."

"That's an old trick, Elijah!"

He furrowed his eyes as he looked toward the door. His impulse to enter was fueled by his sister's statements, and he hoped Charlotte would believe her.
