Anger

Celeste had no other feelings than hatred for this Armstrong family elder.

Since her mother married into an Armstrong family, this older woman had created all sorts of trouble for her.

Because of the older woman's background, when facing her mother, who came from the Baker family and had a reputation in the literary field, the older woman always felt that she was seen as inferior to the daughter-in-law of other wealthy families.

After meeting with Frodo, Felixa chose to leave the house and officially cut ties with the Baker family.

Without her family as support, Felixacould only make very difficult progress in the Armstrong family.

However, Frodo was known as a child who was easily deceived and devoted to Old Lady Armstrong.

Whatever the older woman said, he had to do it. Even when he learned how his mother had criticized his wife harshly, he still chose to turn a blind eye to the situation and only persuaded his wife to tolerate Old Madam Armstrong's attitude more.

The older woman did not like her pure and graceful laugh, for it seemed like she was deliberately making herself look terrible.

So, the older woman showed her true nature and made things even more difficult for her.

No matter what Felixa did, she would always try to find fault.

What was right would be wrong, and the slightest mistake she made would always be highlighted and voiced; what made matters worse was that even after so many years of marriage, not a single child had yet been born.

This became the older woman's reason for targeting Marie.

The fact that there was a child born out of wedlock to Frodo and Damari was also hidden with the older woman's help.

When Celeste was two years old, a woman knocked on the Armstrong family's door. It was then that Felixa realized that Damari was having an affair with her husband and already had an eight-year-old first child, then a five-year-old second child, and a third child still in her stomach.

Felixa had endured countless hardships from her mother-in-law's actions, and now her husband had betrayed her.

All of this pushed Felixato to limit herself mentally and physically, then she couldn't handle the blow anymore.

She stayed away from her daughter, who was less than three years old and chose the quickest and most desperate solution, to jump off the roof of the Armstrongs' villa.

However, the main culprit who causes Felixa to despair and chooses a shortcut is the Armstrong family's old woman. The other culprit was undoubtedly Frodo, who was responsible for the cowardice.

Celeste never intended to take revenge on the older woman. Even if Celeste took her life, her mother could never be brought back to life. But that doesn't mean they can take responsibility for their lives as they see fit.

Celeste was still living with the Armstrongs because of a letter her mother had left her, so she had no intention of letting these people go that easily.

While she still had those thoughts, it was a must to piss them off at any given opportunity.

Seeing how Celeste did not respond, the older woman of the Armstrongs thought that she had succeeded in making Celeste feel guilty.

So, she presented an expression that showed how a loving elder comforted with meaningful and heartfelt words, "Celeste, grandma knows that you don't feel comfortable about this. But you have to think about the Armstrong family. When your Mama was alive she was an educated and kind person, you can't let down your Mama's good reputation."

The hatred in Celeste's heart began to peak.

'So now you remember my Mama's kind personality? Why didn't anyone notice her when she was still alive? Now I have to make sacrifices for the Armstrong family, so you bring the honor of my Mama who cares so much for me? Can these people be any more shameless?' Celeste was furious in her heart.

With a cold expression and a face filled with sarcasm, her disdainful gaze looked straight at the sly old Armstrong family woman and said, "So based on what grandma said, what should I do now? Marrying a man I don't know? And in return my wedding dowry will be donated to the Armstrong Company, and that will reverse the crisis the Armstrong Company is facing? Aren't you talking too highly of me, Grandma? Don't you know exactly how much money the Armstrong Company needs to survive this problem? Do you really think that I deserve such a high dowry from the Davis family? Do you think I deserve to be side by side with the Davis' first son?"

The entire series of words that the old Armstrong family woman had uttered clashed with Celeste's words. She did not know how much funds the Armstrong Company needed. She turned to her son for an answer.

Receiving the old woman's questioning gaze, Frodo coughed awkwardly and tried to avoid her gaze, "It's not that much. About thirty million dollars."

Celeste once again laughed sarcastically, "Papa. You really speak too highly of me. Do you really think that I'm worth thirty million dollars? Or should I say, do you think the Davis would give thirty million dollars just to a daughter-in-law?"

Frodo's face darkened, Damari looked disapproving as she looked into Frodo's face, and the old Armstrong woman seemed to be in deep thought.

That simple sentence is like hitting someone else's sore spot. So, Celeste continued without caring, "If the Davis need someone from the Armstrongs to marry, why aren't grandma and daddy considering another candidate? Perhaps, it will live up to Papa's expectations." She gave a meaningless smile as she glanced at the other two people from the Armstrong family, namely Helena and Ivory.

Receiving Celeste's nonchalant gaze, Helena and Ivory seemed to feel the cold air blowing their backs and chills down their spines and legs. Especially for Julia, who subconsciously leaned her shoulders as if she was doing her best to minimize her presence in the Armstrongs' living room.

The older woman knew what Celeste wanted to say, but Helena, Ivory, and Julia were her precious grandchildren, the future of the Armstrong family and her hope.

Of course, she didn't want to let her granddaughter marry an unknown man, which would ruin their future. However, that was not the most important thing right now, the Armstrongs couldn't afford to offend the Davis, "What Celeste said has its truth. However, whoever wants to marry the Davis' first son is not up to us."

Hearing what the old woman of the Armstrong family said, Frodo suddenly remembered something, "Right, this matter is not up to us to decide. The candidates were decided by the elders of the Davis family. This is also based on the calculations they have. Initially, our family wasn't the only one who had sent information to the Davis family. But after calculation and selection, Celeste's information was the one that best suited young master Davis' character. So the elders of the Davis family chose Celeste to be his grandson's wife."

Celeste clenched her fists so tightly that it made her delicate fingers look paler.

She used all her strength to suppress the fire that was raging in her chest, "Why was information about me sent for selection and I didn't even know about it?"

That sharp and cynical gaze was again shown to her father, who did not even tell before forcing Celeste to marry.

Frodo who sensed Celeste's displeasing aura turned his face away, "At that time we had no hope about it. So we-"

Damari, who heard it couldn't bear to see Frodo silent after being suppressed by Celeste. She hated the child from the bottom of her heart.

However, as for her children's future, she could not just sit back and do nothing, "Whatever you try to say now will not make any difference. The Davis is not someone we can offend. They have received the information. Should we step back and anger the Davis family now that you are elected? Not only will the Armstrong Company go bankrupt, but none of us in this family will be able to escape their wrath. That outcome is not something you can handle. So instead of arguing endlessly here, why don't you accept it? Maybe this would be a better option."

"Aunt Damari, you sound very wise. The one whom the Davis will marry is not your daughter, of course you will relax."

"Then what do you want? Your Papa doesn't have the ability to deal with the Davis. Should the whole family fall together with you?" Damari replied.

"You have the ability to create this mess, so deal with it your own way. By sending them my information, you should have thought of the outcome as well. You ask what's wrong? Do you think that whatever you do, I will obediently accept it?" said Celeste.

Until now, everyone in the Armstrong family's living room suddenly realized that the Celeste sitting on the sofa was no longer the obedient self who never said no, like the Celeste they knew.

The kitten that had been obedient all along now revealed its sharp claws in plain sight. Clawed them into chaos, thus making them feel lost until they were drenched in blood and sweat.

Celeste's shocking words caught everyone off guard.

Old Madam Armstrong, the eldest and sage, was the first to respond.

She was surprised to see Celeste's unusual attitude at this time and made her realize that Celeste was a cunning person, who hid well to this day. She did not expect that in the end, she still could not understand someone who had lived under her own eyes for decades.

After all, today's matter had to be resolved regardless of whether Celeste wanted to.
