Chapter Four

CHAPTER 4:

~ Layla~

“ Really?” I bobbed my head to the side. My heart was thudding in my chest. His furrowed brows and cold eyes gazing at me was so frightening.

But I will never back down or shudder under his voice even if my heart is pounding. I will never let him see that I am afraid of him.

He finally let go of my shoulders, pushing me away with a gentle force.

I grunt, “ You’re so mean,” but I said it in almost a whisper, and I guess he didn’t hear because he did not react.

He went back to sit on the bed.

I wonder why he was this cold to me. Does it mean he doesn’t even like me at all? Not like I care.

He lies on the bed and covers himself up with the blanket,why I stayed rooted on that spot as if I was being magneted there.

My legs began to hurt and I crossed my foot over the other, using my toes to scratch my foot.

What am I supposed to do now? Am I supposed to go lay down on the same bed with him? What if he pushes me over to the floor. That will even be better, because I believe he might do worse than that.

My eyes flickered over the room, everything screams royalty. From the designs and all the artefacts around.

When I was little, I always imagined what it would be like. During moonlight ceremonies we only get to be in the courtyard where all the pack members gather.

We never got a chance to see what the inside of this packhouse looked like.

But here I am today, inside the room with the Alpha prince and we are going to be sharing this room till forever, something I should be grateful for, anybody would.

But I never expected it to be this way. I never expected my dreams to be swept away under my foot just for the sake of my parents and the moon goddess wish.

“ You! Why are you still standing there, why are you being like a witch,” he yelled.

My heart flinched, I thought he was already fast asleep.

“ Uh.. I .. i .. was..” I batted my eyelids, not knowing what to say.

I looked around to find something and used an excuse, but nothing was coming to my head.

“ Just in case you are ready to sleep, you can lie down on the floor,” he said,“ I can’t let a weirdo like you on my bed.” Then he threw a blanket at me.

He said the last part in low tune, but I was able to hear it anyway.

I rolled my eyes, who does he even think he is?

At least he was kind enough to give me a blanket.

Well, I wouldn’t want to even share a bed with him

I placed the blanket neatly on the floor and cuddled myself up with my knees touching my chest.

My thoughts deepens, I need to find a way to get out of this place. I can’t continue to live my life like this. This is not what I want for myself.

The next morning, I was already awake, but I pretended to be asleep. Still waiting for him to wake - up , so he could leave the room first.

Oh wait! We are mates now and we are supposed to come out of this room together to go have breakfast.

“ Why do you have that expression on your face?” His deep baritone voice jolted me out of my thoughts. Which made me realize he is awake.

Does it mean he has been awake and has been watching me or he was also pretending like me.

“ It's none of your business,” I replied.

“ Well, we are supposed to go and have breakfast with the Alpha King and Luna Queen.” He said and started to get out of the bed.

“ What?” I narrowed my eyes in surprise, not like I wasn’t aware.

“ So you have to get ready, because I won’t wait for you when I am ready,” he said and started walking to the bathroom

I sneered, what does he even mean by that, not like he can pull that off.

He finished showering and he came with, his body still wet with droplets of water.

He was cleaning his hair with a towel and was only wearing shorts.

He was walking around the room as he was drying his hair and he was about to step on an object on the floor.

“ Watch out!!,” I yelled as I quickly dived to get the stuff from that place.

He flinched back and from his expression one can tell he was scared.

“ What do you think you’re doing?” He yelled, his brow arched in anger.

“ What do you mean, I was only trying to help you, so you don’t fall,” I replied.

He exhaled,“ Don’t try to be nice to me, because that’s not even going to change anything.”

What does he even mean by that, that’s just a simple gesture.

I straighten my back,“ right! I’m not going to ever help you again, even if you’re dying.”

He turned to look at me, a shocked expression on his face, his gaze lingered on me for a moment and then I realised what I had just said.

Oh my! I shouldn’t have said something like that, why did that word even come out of my mouth?

The room was filled with silence for a while, he was busy getting ready.

And I was just there staring at him.

He hasn’t got dressed yet, his body looks well sculpted. His back was so defined like he was ironing it daily.And oh his abs, his abs! Clearly defined six packs.

I shouldn’t be smitten by him, what am I doing?

“ Why are you staring at me ?” He questioned.

“ What?”

Has he been watching me since while I have been looking at his body? I hope he didn’t catch me staring at him. He must not know that I have been admiring his body.

“ Why should I be doing that!” I scrunched my nose.

He continued what he was doing and all of a sudden he walked up to me and I quickly stood on my feet.

His eyes were cold. Did I just rile him up?

“ I don’t like you, you’re not fit to be called my mate,”he growled , his cold gaze piercing through me.

“ I hate you , I don’t want to be your mate ,” I fired back at him.

He rejected me, I accepted the rejection, but there’s something skeptical about it.

I felt a pull in my heart, but I couldn’t place what it was.
