Chapter Three

I went through the back court , so my mother would not question me on where I had gone.

I went into my room and sat on my bed, resting my chin on my hands.

The door opened with my mother peeping in , but then she came in fully into the room.

She was smiling so tight that I was scared of her skin.

“ They’ve found her,” with a sparkling eye,she squeals..

My eyes widened, I didn’t need to ask before I knew who she was talking about.

“ Aren’t you happy, we found you mate,” she said, with a beaming face

“ I know I’m just .. I just can’t express how I feel, probably I’m overjoyed,” I chuckle and then smile softly at her.

“ I know ,” she said with a wave of her hand,“She probably was just too scared for this new step.”

“ Maybe,” I said, agreeing to what she says before she asks more questions. All I wanted now was for her to just leave my room.

“ You should get ready because the ceremony will begin immediately,” she said and walked away.

“ Arrrgh,” I shuffled my hand in my hair.

“ No!, ” I yelled and used my right foot to kick the board off the bed. It hurts both not more than what I’m feeling in my heart.

Lucas failed me! He didn’t achieve the mission, when I thought everything was going well already.

What am I going to do now? I can’t just break Maya just like that.

I sat down on my bed again , my head facing upwards and my gaze fixed on the ceiling.

I exhale sharply, nothing is coming into my head.I will just have to go on with the ceremony and think of what to do later.

I hope Maya doesn’t hear of this news, I thought.

But I was only being delusional because I know better that the news has already spread around the territories of the pack.

I heard the sound of the gong three times and then I knew I had no choice.

It was time for me to accept the one I barely even knew, my gaze deepened on her face, she was staring deeply at me too, she wasn’t even smiling. I wonder what is going through her mind.

Maybe she just might be smitten by me, like being the mate of the Alpha is every girl's Dream, but I still can’t understand why she ran away.

We held our hands together, the rites were performed except for one which was left for us.

The whole crowd started cheering and applauding as we danced slowly to the rhythm of the soft music in the background.

My eyes shifted to focus on her face, her oval face, her face was so pretty,like an art. But I will never rate anyone above the love of my life.

The Ceremony was over and the pack all started to leave the premises.

It was now time to go into our room.

I was already inside the room and she was away with the maids to prepare her for the night.

They were to prepare her for me and tonight we were expected to do the usual stuff that new mates do.

I heard a soft knock on the door. I didn’t move.The knock was not familiar. I know it wasn’t the guards or maids nor my Mother.

I felt a tingling sensation in my legs, I closed my eyes tightly and took in a deep breath.

I don’t know why I was feeling this nervous. An Alpha is not someone that should be nervous, those are my Father’s words. That's what he always tells me when I try to display any weak emotions as he has called it.

“ Come in,” I said, finally finding my voice.

The door knob moved slowly.And here she comes. My chosen Mate.

She was wearing a long, white flowy gown, a robe- like kind. The robe was light which made me able to see what she was wearing inside.

My eyes sized her body from her feet to her face. She was indeed so beautiful, but not as the love of my life.

She wasn’t moving, she clung onto the hem of the robe tightly, like she could feel my eyes burning her skin.

Her gaze was focused on the ground, like she was trying not to look at me.

“ Hey you!,” I called, my voice was a bit higher.“ Why are you standing there doing nothing?”

“ What am I supposed to do, uh?..tsk.” She sneered.

I scoffed,“ What? What gives you this audacity?,” I chuckled,“ Do you know who I am? I am the Alpha of this pack.”

Clearly she already knows but I just have to remind her because of how rude she is right now.

“ Soon- to - be-Alpha,” she said, underneath her Breathe, picking her words one by one, but it was loud enough for me to hear.

“ What?” I yelled.

How could she be so rude, nobody has ever spoken to me like this. She should be lucky to be in the same space with me. This is what every girl will die for.

I heaved a deep sigh,“ You know what? I don’t like you!”

She tilted her head to the side and folded her arms across her chest,“ Me neither!”

She was beginning to rile me up, nobody talks to me like that, is this who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with?

Never!

I tightened my fist, and walked to where she was standing. My face tightens into a frown.

I held her tightly on both shoulders, pulling her closer to me with force.

Her eyes widened, I saw a hint of fear in them, and this is exactly how I want her to feel.

She has to be under my voice, my command!

I knitted my brows together. “ If you’re not ready to talk to me in the right manner, then you’re not fit to be under my roof!.”

“ Really?” She cackled.
