Chapter 2 Mr. President

With a slight squint of his deep, narrow eyes, Lewis recalled the crying and pleading of a woman from the night before, her allure almost irresistible, stirring an inner urge to dominate.

The dim lighting, the effects of alcohol and drugs, had clouded his memory; he could not recall her face, only the long black hair, her softness, and the light scent of mint.

Thirty years of “none-sex life” ended that night for Lewis, like a slumbering beast awakened, the consequences being self-evident.

At a business soirée, Lewis had been drugged. Amidst his discomfort back at the hotel, a woman had burst in, and in his state, he spared no thought but promised recompense. Waking up, the woman was gone.

"Mr. President," his assistant Leo entered, a hint of panic in his demeanor.

Lewis, with a chill in his expression, handed over a resume to Leo: "Find this woman. Don't scare her. Check her background. Also, terminate all cooperation with Starlight Group."

Don't scare her? His tone, almost tender.

Leo, who had worked with Lewis for eight years, was startled. Had the president taken a fancy?

Previously, girl who imagined climbing Lewis's bed all met with a dire fate and were disposed of ruthlessly.

"Yes, Mr. President," Leo replied, checking his thoughts, careful not to speculate on his boss's intentions, and respectfully continued, "You have a meeting at 10 a.m., an interview at 2 p.m., and an important dinner at 7..."

Caler Group.

As an intern yet to be regularized, Judy was swamped from the moment she arrived at the company.

"Judy, help print this document."

"Judy, organize this file."

"Judy, we're out of pens, go get some."

"Judy, we need more water, order a new bottle..."

She had no time to think about the previous night, and no one in her department cared where such a minor figure had gone after the gathering.

Finally getting a break, Judy poured water and stepped into the hallway for some air.

To outsiders, she was a shining presence in Caler Group, a prestigious graduate buried in menial work.

While she sulked and blew off steam, a colleague from Operations approached, "Tired, Judy? Come rest in my office for a bit."

A balding man in his thirties, he looked middle-aged, of average height and build.

Judy read his intentions and declined, "I need to deliver some materials soon."

He offered eagerly, "Let me know if you need help. Oh, and dinner tonight? I've got movie tickets about to expire. We should add each other on W******p."

Judiciously lying, she deflected: "Thank you, but I have dinner plans with my fiancé."

That stunned him: "You're engaged?"

"Yes," Judy smiled. "I'll invite you to the wedding."

He excused himself awkwardly, "Right, I've got a proposal to draft."

"Sure, take your time," Judy replied, hiding her cunning.

After the colleague left, she felt relieved. But her heart jumped to her throat when she turned around and locked eyes with Lewis.

Had he recognized her? Was he here for retribution?

Could she plead for mercy?

Would she be spared?

Escape?

Her heart raced with fear when she heard his deep voice, "Look at me."

That familiar scent of mint, it stirred something in Lewis.
