Samael watched as his beloved lay in the hospital bed. Her eyes were closed, and she looked peaceful. Sam was hurting, but he couldn’t muster up the courage to move from Eva’s side. From a distance, Samael could hear people speaking. He couldn’t make out what they were saying but if he focused enough he could hear them draw closer and closer. Samael was in complete darkness. Samael smiled as he softly placed Eva on his bed. Being with his beloved pleased him, more than anything in the world. Being close to Eva made him invincible. Eva slowly shuffled around and a small smile formed on her face as she cuddled into the bed. Sam didn’t realize how much he missed his Beloved. He never wanted to feel that helpless ever in his life. He pulled Eva closer to him and she snuggled into him. Both vampires are in a state of constant contentment. Eva’s eyes fluttered closed and Samael smiled as he too was able to finally relax. A week had passed since Eva had moved to the Vampire Castle. Life was pretty good, and she was a quick study. Thankfully her Queen duties were reasonably similar to that of her beta duties. Sam quickly started to learn his requirements as the next King. King Zane was relaxing in his chambers when his beloved walked in with a grin plastered on her face. "She knows how to do everything!" The Vampire queen shouted with happiness. "Everything we teach her she learns in a matter of days!" The Queen continued with praise. "Samael is going to be the best King our race has ever had!" She shouted with glee."Excuse me, ma'am, but I am right here." King Zane huffed as he watched his beloved smile. The sound of music fills the ballroom as the musicians practice their songs. The servants are finishing up the preparations for the upcoming ball. The tables are covered with golden tablecloths. Porcelain plates and expensive glasses are placed on the multiple round tables. In another room, Eva is being pampered and worked on. Her maids are fixing her hair and doing her makeup as they prepare her for the ball of the year. “Are you excited, your majesty? This will be the first ball you attend as queen of the Vampires ”, a maid comments as she continues to place polish on Eva’s nails. “I would rather fight in another war,” Eva mumbles as she chews the inside of her cheek. As the ball continued Sam and Eva greeted the guests. Everyone addressed King Sam and Queen Eva with respect. Eva couldn't get accustomed to all the formalities that came with being a royal. In many situations, she wanted to be informal but feared being frowned upon by the other high-status vampires. Sam quickly noticed the change in his beloved.
