Chapter 23

Samael watched as his beloved lay in the hospital bed. Her eyes were closed, and she looked peaceful. Sam was hurting, but he couldn’t muster up the courage to move from Eva’s side. Nurses came into the room and helped him as much as they could.

Samael refused to be injected with anything that would make him drowsy. He had an eerie sensation and felt that if he were to leave Eva’s side for just a moment, something terrible would happen to her.

As the days passed, Eva made no sign of waking up. The more time she spent sleeping, the more the Prince’s health deteriorated. It wasn’t until a week later that Eva finally opened her eyes.

Samael clenched her hand as he softly snored. Sleep had caught up with him, and he finally had to get some rest. Eva gently moved her head from side to side. She was now awake, but she was still in the familiar darkness.

“Sam?” Eva called out gently.
