A week had passed since Eva had moved to the Vampire Castle. Life was pretty good, and she was a quick study. Thankfully her Queen duties were reasonably similar to that of her beta duties. Sam quickly started to learn his requirements as the next King. King Zane was relaxing in his chambers when his beloved walked in with a grin plastered on her face. "She knows how to do everything!" The Vampire queen shouted with happiness. "Everything we teach her she learns in a matter of days!" The Queen continued with praise. "Samael is going to be the best King our race has ever had!" She shouted with glee."Excuse me, ma'am, but I am right here." King Zane huffed as he watched his beloved smile. "You know what I mean," The Queen chuckled."Although she is blind, she is brilliant and adapts rather quickly to anything we throw at her; I honestly feel our son lacks next to Eva," The Queen mumbled."Samael got lucky; she is an excellent match for him," The King agreed as he sat on his bed.
The sound of music fills the ballroom as the musicians practice their songs. The servants are finishing up the preparations for the upcoming ball. The tables are covered with golden tablecloths. Porcelain plates and expensive glasses are placed on the multiple round tables. In another room, Eva is being pampered and worked on. Her maids are fixing her hair and doing her makeup as they prepare her for the ball of the year. “Are you excited, your majesty? This will be the first ball you attend as queen of the Vampires ”, a maid comments as she continues to place polish on Eva’s nails. “I would rather fight in another war,” Eva mumbles as she chews the inside of her cheek. The nerves are getting the best of her at this moment. The maid simply chuckles. “This is a different kind of battlefield.” Another maid chirps up as she continues to brush Eva’s hair. Eva takes another deep breath and tries to calm her racing heart. Samael walks back and forth as an attendant hurriedly tries to
As the ball continued Sam and Eva greeted the guests. Everyone addressed King Sam and Queen Eva with respect. Eva couldn't get accustomed to all the formalities that came with being a royal. In many situations, she wanted to be informal but feared being frowned upon by the other high-status vampires. Sam quickly noticed the change in his beloved. Fearing that she would be overwhelmed he pulled her outside for a breath of fresh air. “How is my Queen holding up?” Sam teased as he pulled Eva to him. “Honestly, it's a bit overwhelming” mumbled Eva. At times like these she wished she was still at the pack house with her family. Sam placed a gentle kiss on Eva's forehead as reassurance and embraced her. Eva took in a deep breath and sighed in bliss. Being close to Sam calmed her nerves and eased any tension she had. The night sky above the happy couple shined with multiple bright stars. All was well in the world at this precise moment as the pair enjoyed each other’s embrace. That
Eva Led Alana into an empty room. “Eva, what’s going on?” Alana questioned in worry. “There was an attack. It looks like wolves attacked a town nearby, Eva explained. “That's impossible, evenRogues follow the rules of the treaty.” “We managed to kill one, but the others got away. A couple of vampire families were harmed. A baby was orphaned but mostly the damage was materialistic.” Eva sighed as she felt around for a chair. When her hands came into contact with a plush comforter, she realized it was a bed.Eva had become accustomed to the castle but still had many rooms that she was unfamiliar with. Just like the one she was currently in with Alana. “Eva, have you thought about doing a mating ritual with Samael? To get your vision?” Alana questioned as she took a seat next to her beloved best friend. “Initially we did, but honestly, I’m fine with being blind. I can be a queen and a good ruler even if I don’t have my vision. I have a beloved who loves me for me. Just as I am”“I
"EVA!" Alana yelled from downstairs. Eva smiled at herself as she pictured her best friend running around looking for her on the first floor of the PackHouse. She would never figure out that Eva was on the third floor of the library. Eva's heightened senses came in handy from time to time when she wanted to hide out and finish her books. Her fingers slide across the pages as she took in all the information the book had. She was currently reading a book on Mates and how they work. Eva was slightly glad she didn't have a mate. She knew she wouldn't be able to deal with a very possessive mate. Especially considering the higher the rank the more possessive the mate was. "HA! I FOUND YOU!" Alana yelled at the top of her lungs when her eyes met her best friend sitting on the windowsill. Due to the fact that Eve was in her thoughts, she didn't notice the stomping Alana was making on her way to the Library. She didn't even notice when Alana opened the Library door with a creak. What she
The horrible ringing of the alarm clock made Alana groan as she tried to wake from her slumber. Her eyes were practically glued together and she fought to open them up. The incessant noise was making her head pound. "Alana, wake up, it's 5:30" Eva spoke as she walked into the room and shut the alarm clock off. Due to the excitement, Eva couldn't sleep last night. Today was the day that they would head to the royal werewolf castle to attend the international alpha meeting. The bonus of being a Vampire was that they could run a few days on basically no sleep. That was partially why Eva graduated college ahead of everyone else. She would stay awake for days just studying and finishing projects and homework. "Five more minutes" Alana mumbled as she struggled to rid her eyes of sleep. She was really trying to wake up but her dreams held her in a death grip. She couldn't shake the sleep from her eyes. Eva sighed in annoyance but agreed nonetheless. She would let her best friend rest f
Eva couldn't stop shaking her leg as she sat in the airplane seat. Alana's annoyance grew with every waking second. "Would you please stop that?!" Alana growled out after not being able to ignore it any longer. "I'm sorry, it's just I'm so excited!" Eva all but yelled in glee. "We are going to be landing in 30 minutes" Eva smiled. Alana was in no mood to be happy. She had been awake for what felt like days when in reality was only around two hours. Alana was not by any means necessarily a morning person. She wasn't one to stay awake at night either. "Come on Alana, aren't you excited?" "No, not even a little bit." "You know you are not a morning person at all. You are so grumpy today." Eva commented as Alana rolled her eyes knowing her best friend couldn't see her. "I'm not a morning person or a night person. There are a few minutes in the afternoon where I'm a decent person and that's about it." Alana stated gruffly. Eva chuckled at Alana's statement. She laughed at what her
The entire ride back to the castle was silent. You could cut the tension with a knife. It was clear to Eva that the Prince could be her mate. She was showing all the symptoms based on all the books she read. What she couldn't understand was the fact that he had yet to say anything. Maybe he wasn't her mate? That still didn't explain how he made her feel just by being close to her. Something was off.Why hadn't he said or done anything? Usually, wolves with higher rankings became much more possessive. Surely if Eva was his mate he would say something... no?Alana knew something was wrong. Sure Eva was shy and everything but she was never this quiet. Alana kept her guard up. She didn't fully trust the prince. He gave her weird vibes.Alana dared not to say anything. No matter how badly she wanted to comment on her best friend's attitude at this moment. She didn't want to draw attention to her best friend. No one could sense Eva's inner turmoil like her mate could. Prince Cole said noth
