Chapter 1

The horrible ringing of the alarm clock made Alana groan as she tried to wake from her slumber. Her eyes were practically glued together and she fought to open them up. The incessant noise was making her head pound.

"Alana, wake up, it's 5:30" Eva spoke as she walked into the room and shut the alarm clock off.

Due to the excitement, Eva couldn't sleep last night. Today was the day that they would head to the royal werewolf castle to attend the international alpha meeting.

The bonus of being a Vampire was that they could run a few days on basically no sleep. That was partially why Eva graduated college ahead of everyone else. She would stay awake for days just studying and finishing projects and homework.

"Five more minutes" Alana mumbled as she struggled to rid her eyes of sleep.

She was really trying to wake up but her dreams held her in a death grip. She couldn't shake the sleep from her eyes.

Eva sighed in annoyance but agreed nonetheless. She would let her best friend rest for a couple of minutes. Eva had a book she needed to return to the library on the third floor anyway.

As she grabbed the book and her walking stick she headed out the door and to the library.

In the mornings the PackHouse was very quiet. The only sound that could be heard was the slight tapping Eva's walking stick made as she managed to walk without anyone's help.

To Eva, the darkness that she was in was never an issue. She found comfort in her dark world. Although she was blind she never thought less of herself. If anything she was stronger. Her heightened senses that came naturally from birth were doubled in strength due to the fact that she was blind. She loved it. She could hear anyone from far away and her speed was unmatched. Sometimes even the alpha had trouble keeping up with her. She loved her life. She loved her family and she even loved the Pack.

Although she was very grateful and very loved she couldn't help but feel like something was missing from her life. Something she couldn't quite figure out.

When the end of her walking stick tapped the door to the library Eva stopped walking and stuck her hand out. Her fingers searched for the braille words on the door that read library. When they did she smiled to herself and pushed the door open.

As she walked in her smile grew knowing she was all alone in the library. There were no sounds of hearts beating in here and she let herself breathe out in glee.

She placed the walking stick on the table and smiled as she made her way around the room without any help.

The Alpha had forbidden anyone from moving anything in this room. It had been the same for a couple of years. Eva had memorized every inch of this room. If something were out of place she knew. She was in her element here.

She placed the book back where it belonged and slid her hands across the spines of the other books. Looking for one that could catch her attention.

Eva didn't miss the footsteps she heard outside the door. When the person walked into the library she immediately knew who it was.

"Good Morning Mother" Eva smiled as she continued looking for a book.

"Good Morning My beautiful baby girl" Misty chuckled as she sat down on Eva's favorite windowsill.

Eva's hands stopped when she felt a book that didn't belong. The spine was bare and had no braille.

"Oh? You don't belong here" Eva mumbled as she pulled out the book and opened it to read what was inside.

Much to Eva's dismay, the book was a regular book and didn't have braille.

In confusion, Eva walked to her windowsill and joined her mother.

"Oh, I see you have a new book" Misty smiled as she softly grabbed the book from Eva's hand.

"It isn't in braille" Eva muttered in disappointment.

The only time Eva cursed being blind was when she wanted to read. Eva was constricted to only a few books. Since she could only read braille books normal books remained a mystery to her. All of that knowledge and Eva had no way of obtaining it. It really annoyed her knowing she may never be able to read all the books she wanted to. All that knowledge going to waste.

Misty pulled her daughter to lay in her lap and smiled.

"Then it'll be just like old times."

Misty opened the book and smiled as Eva shuffled around to get comfortable on her lap.

Misty then read out the title of the book.

Vampires and Their Beloveds

"Is this a story or an information book?" Eva questioned her mother.

"Looks like it's an information book," Misty spoke out as she turned the page.

Before Misty could start reading again, Eva could hear the alarm clock ringing once again in her shared room with Alana. Eve quickly rose to her feet and sighed.

"I'm sorry mother but I have to go wake Alana up again. The international Alpha meeting is today."

Misty sighed in sadness knowing her child was all grown up. Eva was no longer the shy baby that clung to her mother. Misty couldn't figure out where time had gone! It felt like just yesterday Eva was in her arms holding onto her. In the blink of an eye, her baby girl had grown up.

"Be careful! And make sure you don't leave your father's side!" Misty yelled as Eva was already halfway out the door.

The large door shut making Misty sigh once again.

Eva rushed back to her room. She had to make sure Alana woke up this time. Eva gracefully avoided crashing into anything in the halls as she rushed to the room.

Once she was inside the room she sat on her bed and felt for her phone. She picked it up and tapped around the screen until the noise finally stopped.

Eva had a smartphone that would read out what was on the screen to help her. She didn't really use the phone much since she couldn't do anything other than call people and sometimes send texts. Thanks to the phone's voice-to-text feature.

Alana groaned once again as she rolled to her side. Unfortunately for her, the bed had ended and she found herself falling on the floor.

Eva tried to contain her laughter as she heard the thud and then the hiss that came from Alana.

"Come on or we are going to be late." Eva chuckled as she could hear the curse words flying out of Alana's mouth as she started to stand up.

After what felt like hours Alana was finally ready for the International Alpha Meeting. Eva and Alana rushed to the Alpha's office with their bags.

Since the meeting was out of state they were required to stay in a hotel. So everyone brought an overnight bag.

As the women walked into the office they were met by their parents.

Antonio held Misty in his arms as he kissed her goodbye. Alexandrov also said his goodbyes to his mate Amelie. Alana had a disgusted look plastered on her face at the sight of her parent's affection.

"Okay Love Birds! It's too early for this!" Alana grumbled as she covered her eyes with her hands.

Eva could hear the rushing heartbeat of four people in the room and knew that it was the Alpha and the Luna. She could also tell her parents were there by the simple fact that they smelled like lavender. It was a scent she had grown to associate with home.

"Calm down Alana, we are simply saying our goodbyes" Amelie chuckled as she looked at her daughter.

She knew that Alana was a terrible morning person.

"Eva darling, promise me you will not leave your father's side." Misty pleaded as she grabbed her daughter by the hands.

"Mom" was all Eva could sigh out in annoyance. Eva didn't understand the fear that was built up inside Misty as she let her only daughter leave the state without her. This would be the first time she would actually be apart from her child and she dreaded every minute of it.

"Promise me!" Misty exasperated. She needed confirmation. It would be the only thing to keep her sane while her family left for this meeting.

She hated when Antonio had to go but now Eva was joining him. Misty wasn't sure how much more her heart could take. Just the thought of not being able to see her daughter again was terrifying.

"I promise" Eva stated as she gently tightened her grip on her mother's hand.

Misty held back tears and smiled. She pulled Eva into a hug and placed a loving kiss on her child's forehead.

"Relax mom, your heart rate is going insane it's going to make me thirsty" Eva joked as Misty smiled and placed her hands on her child's cheeks.

"I love you so much" Misty stated in happiness.

"Alright Honey, let our poor child go. It's time for us to leave." Antonio spoke as he slowly pulled Misty's arms away from Eva.

Misty lovingly kissed Antonio and he returned the gesture with pure love and passion.

After their goodbyes, the Alpha and Beta had to pry the women from their mothers. Eventually, they were able to leave and head to the airport. They would all be getting on the airplane headed for the Royal Family's Castle.
