The Orb

Surrounded by lush vegetation which seems to fade away, a tall yet imposing man with the aura of a thunderous lightning ran as fiercely as he could toward something or rather someone unforeseen.

His eyes were as scary as the strike of lightning and the winds blew angrily around him as he murmured to himself.

"I will kill them all!"

Continuously as thunder rumbles every now and then. The weather was getting darker yet a glimmer shone through the farthest part in which he took. Not a second more, he stopped moving as his hands shivered nonstop.

The sadness emitting from the man's eyes could not be measured nor contained. He stared at the lifeless body of the fragile woman on the ground before rushing toward her.

He lifted her and placed her gently in his arms, avoiding the dagger which seeps out immortality from the body of the woman in which it was stuck.

"Who did this to you, Athena!" The man cried out in agony, as he looked at the frail woman before him, his voice came out more like a roar than an angry cry as his hands clutched the dagger sticking out from her heart.

She was suffering-an agonizing death and that alone tore his heart. He wasn't going to let her die!

Athena, the goddess of War and keeper of the Orb lay on the ground at the entrance of her temple. Lord Kizia, her mate, was tearing up in sadness, his eyes never leaving her.

Even though frail, Athena was strong as the wind and her beauty was still shining in the midst of the endlessly flowing blood, as life slowly drained from her. Her pale full lips were parsed from the pain she was experiencing. Her lashes fluttered up and down as she tried to stay put, but the pain was slowly eating her life away.

"For…give… them, Kizia. D–don't…"the woman tried to let out while he watched helplessly.

The sadness from the man's eyes could not be measured nor contained as he stared at the almost lifeless body of the fragile woman in his arms.

"Was it him?” Kizia asked angrily before continuing, “I will make him pay a hundred fold! How dare he!"

Although his voice was filled with anger, tears were starting to flow from the corner of his eyes. At the drop of each tear, there was a heavy rumbling in the sky above and below.

"Take… care… of… Helena… my… Helena… don't… don't… stop her… " her voice shook violently at the pain coursing through her bloody body.

Kizia placed his hands gently on her perched lips, in a bid to hold her back from saying any more words. He didn't want her to spend her last minutes trying to spell out things that wouldn't make any sense to him.

He had made up his mind, he would make whoever did this, pay. The woman before him was slowly losing her life force and the dagger of death was smeared with an extra layer of silver.

There were hurried footsteps as someone came rushing in. The woman managed to open her eyes as she stared at the young girl who was shaking in fright… and extreme sorrow.

"Mother… mother…" Those were the only words the girl could utter.

Her beautiful molten lava eyes staring at the dying woman. She looked identical to the dying woman except for those blue eyes that seemed to bring out a ravaging blue volcano within.

"Helena… don't… don't be blinded by anger. I will be back… at… the end of… age. Take… care of your… father" Athena tried so hard to talk to her daughter. She tried lifting herself up so she could embrace her but the pain tore through her system again.

She cried out in pain as Lord Kizia tried to hold her back." You don't have to move, Athena"

"I… just… want…" she tried to talk again.

"Mother… I won't… take care of your mate by yourself! I won't let you go! Don't you dare die on me, mother! " Helena said, quickly holding her mother instead.

There was fierceness in the girl's eyes as she stared at her mother. Who dares to do this to a goddess? Was it him? But how was it possible?

Helena wanted to ask but stopped herself at the last minute. She would find out herself.

" Helena… you have to guard the orb and my precious.." Anthena said, opening her hands while staring at her daughter's face.

" Mother… you know I can't summon the orb even after all the practices. You have to stay alive or the world of mortals would be destroyed. Great damage would also be done in the immortal realm" Helena said, shaking her head.

She refuses to take it!

She can't trust herself to take the responsibility of the orb.

" It's in you… Helena. Just believe in yourself and the people you have to save. There must be someone special, not worth losing. You are my little warrior princess " Her mother tightened her grip on Helena's wrist. It was like she was holding on to her last hope.

" Mother… don't… don't do this to me " Helena cried out, shaking her head in refusal.

"Always… always remember who you are… and… and don't judge people with the… guilt of their family. Sometimes… vengeance blinds loyalty but loyalty wins most times… " Athena kept talking to her daughter. She was slowly losing her life force.

" Mother, I don't understand what you mean…'' Helena said, confused at her mother's words.

" You will when the time comes"

At the end of the words, the woman slowly closed her eyes as she welcomed the darkness that had long been threatening to envelop her. As her eyes slowly shut, the winds began blowing fiercely as the sun battled with the moon.

In the world of immortals, chaos was about to break out. The immortals were shaken in their abode as the orb breathed out anger and murderous aura.

The orb was angry. It has lost its owner.
