Nora/Camilla's POV.Days passed and just as I had promised Lorenzo before he took his last breath, I was at his funeral offering his wife and kids the support they needed. Since that night, I had been very cautious around Steve. I was careful of what I did and said. I told my father to stop calling and should only send me messages when the need arose. It took about a week after the surgery before Cassandra woke up. I was at home after spending the night at the hospital watching over Cassandra, when my phone rang. It was Steve who had called. "Hello, baby. Guess what?" he beamed excitedly. "What?" I asked, pretending to be as excited as he was. "Cassandra........ she is awake," he revealed, giggling. If someone had seen how happy he was, they would have thought he really cared about her. I could bet with my life that while Cassandra was in coma, he was silently wishing that she wouldn't wake up."Oh, that's nice. What a great way to start the day! How is she now? Is she fine?""Ye
Nora/Camilla's POVThe same way I entered the hotel with ease was the same way I exited. My father made everything easy for me and I was grateful to him for that. I headed back to the basement, changed into my dress and returned the sniper back to where I had picked it. It was time for me to head back to the hospital as Camilla- the dense wife. It didn't take time before the news about Lorenzo's death was made public, but nothing was mentioned about Steve. Nothing like he and Lorenzo being found in the suite, or Steve being injured and rushed to the hospital. I became worried instantly. Did he die too? Did I miscalculate? No, he can't die. I wanted him to live not because of the love I had for him, but he was the only key I had. The key to solving my riddles. As I drove, I kept on checking my phone hoping to receive a call or message in respect of Steve, but I got none. "What the hell is going on?" I had thought, becoming unsettled, with my brow furrowed in confusion. By the tim
Nora's POVI took my time in the basement going through Lorenzo Mendez's file. It was stated that he would be meeting with a business partner that night at the hotel where I was meant to take him down. "Take the business partner down with him," that was the last line written on the last page of his file- typed in bold, underlined, and circled in red.Take the business partner down with him? Why? What was my father up to?There was something hidden- something off and I promised myself to dig into it. But not tonight. I had to finish that task for my daughter's sake. It was almost time for me to leave, so I began preparing. I changed out of my dress to the black leather jacket and trousers my father had prepared in advance. I put on my boots , which soles were soundless and then my gloves. Afterwards, I packed my hair into a sleek bun to avoid any distraction.I sat in front of the mirror and did some light make-up. At least, I would give Lorenzo the honor of dying with a beautiful
Camilla/Nora's POVThe moment the nurses wheeled her out; I headed in the direction of the private lounge where Steve sat- his head buried in his palms. He looked like a man whose world was crashing in his lifetime, and he couldn't do anything about it. He looked pathetic and he didn't even notice my presence until I tapped him. "Steve," I called out softly, having my seat beside him."They have wheeled her to the operating room," I informed, sniffing as if I was trying to hold back my tears. "Okay," he said in a low voice, not lifting his gaze. "Don't worry, she will be fine. I know that for sure," I reassured, and he nodded his head in response. The surgery took longer than I had expected. 4 hours passed and we were still sitting in the private lounge, awaiting Doctor Kyle's arrival. I checked the time, and it was 3:00 pm in the afternoon. I didn't have much time left to prepare for the task ahead of me. Without being told, I knew I needed to leave immediately."Baby, I think
Camilla/Nora’s POV“Remove her womb? No..... No, that’s not possible. There must be another way aroundit!” He choked on his words, struggling to accept reality.“I’m afraid there is no other way, Mr. Steve. Time is not on our side, and we need to act fast. Further delay can cause the unexpected. I hope you understand what I mean, sir?" Doctor Kyle urged, his tone pressing.Steve stumbled, his breathing ragged as he ran his hand through his hair in frustration."No... No, she wouldn't be in support of this. She has always wanted kids...... more kids," he whispered, his lips quivered. He just shot himself in the leg and he didn't even realize that. I rose to my feet, with the aim of taunting him in his most turbulent moment. "She always wanted kids? How did you know that, Steve? And what do you mean by more kids? Does she have a child I do not know of?" I walked up to him, staring at him intently. His body stiffened and the tension between us thickened. "I ...... She mentioned it th
Camilla/Nora’s POV Doctor Kyle blinked rapidly, clearly shocked and shaken. “Ma’am............ that’s against ethical rules. That can lead to revocation of my license,” his voice shook, expressing his hesitation. I need not stress myself further. I knew what exactly would make him unable to say ‘No’ to my request. “How is Amanda? Is she fine?” I asked, playing with the tips of my nails. Immediately, his face went pale. Fear gripped him, and his teeth violently clashed against each other, making an annoying sound. “She ........ is fine,” he forced himself to say, now sweating profusely. “I bought her some candies on my way here with the intention of you delivering them to her on my behalf, but it seemed I would have to deliver them by myself- just like the other time,” I said putting my glasses back on and rising to my feet. “Take care, Doctor Kyle. It seems our conversation ended right before it started.” With that, I grabbed my bag ready to head out, but he stopped me.
