Kapitel 1

This is going to be my last meal with Aunt Susan, and I've already got a pretty good idea of how much I'll miss her after tonight. Aunt Susan was the one who took me in when I arrived here three months ago, drenched in blood and on the verge of passing away, but she is the one who saved my life. She is a werewolf just like me, but because she is much older than the others, she does not possess as much power.

After we had finished eating our final meal, she poured me a cup of tea and I gave her a friendly smile as she did so.

As I sipped my steaming cup of tea, I remarked "the time has come."

My name is Amaryllis Eloise, and I am a rogue werewolf. I ran away from my pack because I didn't want to spend the rest of my life obeying the Alphas' orders. And for this reason, I have a large number of adversaries, some of whom I am aware of, while others are like snakes in sheep's clothing.

My entire life has been spent watching werewolves defer to the authority of their Alphas and carry out their orders like they were nothing more than servants. I detested the fact that we did not have control over our own lives and could not live them as we saw fit.

It was never my wish to be born a werewolf, but given that I couldn't change where I was born, I've decided to change the course of my destiny instead. Nobody but myself deserves to write my fate.

Since I arrived here three months ago, Aunt Susan has kept a watchful eye over me as I've been living in the Moonstone pack. Because I don't want to risk getting caught by one of the Alphas, I switch packs on average once every three months.

They were so close to catching me when I broke away from the pack I had been with, but I was able to get away before they could. Aunt Susan was the one who found me first, beating out the werewolf guards.

In just three short months, she made me feel as if I were her own daughter, and as a result, I've grown to love her as much as I possibly can. Since I have been away from my home, I have not encountered anyone as lovely and kind as she is.

The guards of the Moonstone pack will find me and torture me until I die if I don't leave here, but this wasn't the thing that I was most afraid of. I didn't want to leave her, but I had no choice because if I don't, they will find me. If they find me with Aunt Susan, this will not only kill me but also Aunt Susan's life will be in danger for giving me shelter.

"Why so soon?" She asked me while firmly holding both of my hands in her grip, "Can't you just stay with me for a little longer?"

I wished I could say yes, but I shook my head and said, "I'm sorry, Aunt Susan."

Seven years have passed since I left my pack. When I took the drastic action of putting my life in danger, I was only thirteen years old. Freedom was the only thing I cared about at the time, and I now have it. So I have no regrets.

In the past seven years, I've lived in a lot of different cities and made a lot of different memories, but by far the best one is with Aunt Susan.

"Why can't they just let the rogues live out their lives as they please? They had already left their packs, so there was no reason to bother them." Aunt Susan said angrily.

It was easy to comprehend why she didn’t want me to leave her. She started seeing her dead daughter in me, who had been my age when she passed away. This was yet another of the numerous reasons that contributed to her undying adoration for me.

Because rogues are considered to be traitors of their packs, and in the world of werewolves, there is only one punishment for traitors, and that is to either make them your servant or kill them in a brutal manner, I smiled as I saw her get angry for the first time in three months.

The very thought of it gave me goosebumps. My spine tingled at the prospect of becoming their slave, and the feeling was intense. I would much rather perish than serve as a pawn for them.

"Then, what kind of plans do you have?" Aunt Susan asked with a sad face. "Where are you going to hide out next?"

I refrained from responding because I was unaware of the answer. Even though I had no idea where I was going after that, evacuating her place was the most important thing for me to do. I didn't want my selfish actions to have a negative impact on Aunt Susan in any way, shape, or form.

She heaved a sigh and asked with a questioning tone, "If you don't know where you're going, then why are you leaving in the first place? Until you have a proper plan, you should remain here for a few more days."

I stood up and looked out the windows, and muttered to myself, "I believe that right now would be the best time to escape."

The sky was cloudy and overcast with dark clouds. There is no question that it will start to rain very soon, which means that I should make my escape as soon as possible.

Susan was aware that I had already decided what to do, so it was pointless for her to ask me to stay with her. She went to her room and came back holding a small bottle in her hands.

“What is this?” I asked as she handed the bottle to me.

She heaved a sigh and said, "This medicine will help you live a little longer because I know you won't agree to stay here, and I don't want you to die at such a young age."

I had no idea what she was meant by this. What was so special about this medicine? I took off the bottle's cap and looked inside. My curiosity was piqued even further when there was no odor emanating from the bottle.

"Don't you think you should give detailed information on how this medicine works?" I asked, pulling one tablet from the bottle.

"It will be of help to you in covering up your scent."

My pupils dilated as I focused on the small white pill in my hand. I had never heard of such a pill before, and I found it impossible to believe what she was saying was true.

Is she joking around? And even if she is saying the truth, the question remains: how did she manage to get something of such great value?' The longer I look at the pill, the more questions arise in my mind.

"Aunt Susan, you should know that I love you, but that does not mean you can fool me like this."

She laughed at my immature response and then grabbed the pill out of my hand before swallowing it. The moment it went through her throat, I was no longer able to smell the wolf scent she carried. I must be dreaming. She had these pills the whole time; then why she didn't give them to me earlier?

She continued with a sad expression on her face, "I didn't want you to leave me, but now that you've decided, this is the least I can do for you."

I jumped up and down for joy and hugged her tightly. She saved my life and is deserving of nothing but the best that this world has to offer. "I love you, Aunt Susan. I am indebted to you for this great favor, and I promise that I will never forget the help you've provided all of this time."

She pulled away from the embrace, "please take care of yourself."

I nodded, then quickly removed one tablet from the bottle, swallowed it with some water, and sporadically asked her, "By the way, Aunt, can you even explain how you got your hands on it? Please tell me the location where I can acquire more for my own protection."

Her smile replaced with sorrow, and the cheerful atmosphere became gloomy.

"When my daughter decided to become a rogue, she brought these pills, but they found out about it and killed her before she could do anything with it. I thought there was no point in saving this medicine, but when I found you, I knew exactly what I had to do with it. I’m not sure where she got it, so all I have is this, I’m sorry."

My fingers were curled around the bottle tightly. Another reason for hating Alphas. They do not place any significance on our lives. I gave aunt one more hug before saying goodbye, "I'm sorry to hear this, but I promise I won't let anyone harm your second daughter."

Her eyes well up with tears as she exclaims, "Oh, dear! I'm going to miss you a lot."

I responded by giving her a peck on her cheek and saying, "So do I."
