I protested, grabbing the wrist of the person who had just yanked my arm, struggling to pull away from his grip.

But my drunken haze vanished the second I saw his face.

My cheeks burned, and my voice caught in my throat. His eyes… they were blazing with fury.

“Romeo…” I breathed out his name, almost in disbelief.

“What the hell, dude? Let her go!” the other guy shouted, yanking me back toward him.

Romeo’s jaw clenched tightly before he forcefully pulled me toward him. I felt like a helpless rubber band stretched between two raging lunatics.

“Let go of me!” I cried out, fighting them both.

With every bit of strength left in me, I tore my arms away from their hold, only for my knees to buckle, slamming painfully against the pavement. But instead of helping me up, Romeo stormed toward the guy who had just tried to steady me.

Romeo’s eyes sparkled with pleasure as he took in the lovely scene before him. He stiffened, swallowing hard several times.I should’ve made sure he was gone first. He’s like a tiger just waiting to pounce on me. I smiled shyly as I tried to cover myself with whatever I could grab. It’s not like I was completely naked. I was wearing a nightie. The problem was… my two little cherry tomatoes were very visible. And that’s exactly where this man’s gleaming eyes stopped—completely frozen.I love this man… but I want to poke his eyes out right now! With a pillow shielding my body, I stood and walked toward him. I grabbed the shirt from his hand, slipped it on, and dragged him out of the room. Good thing he didn’t resist as I pulled him downstairs.“Take care, love.” I pushed him toward the door and opened it for him.He blinked and stared at me, dazed. Really dazed. “Is that why you threw a shirt at me? So I’d leave?”Idiot! That’s what he thinks? I wasn’t even sure if I should respon

"Romeo, what are you doing? You can’t be here. Go back downstairs before Mom sees you," I muttered in frustration."Just let me stay, my lovel," he said, gently caressing my cheek. "I just want to make things right between us," he whispered, then pressed his lips softly against mine."Wait a minute, we’re not okay yet. You think you can win me over with just your sweet talk? Go—over there!" I pointed to the bed.He walked there with a smile and sat down like an obedient child. I placed my bag on the bedside table and turned away from him."Where are you going?" he asked, reaching out to touch me."Just getting medicine," I quickly replied. He nodded and leaned back into his seat, still wearing that foolish grin. Like a child, completely unaware of how much I’m still fuming.I grabbed the medical kit from my dresser and returned to him. He was still beaming, like he wasn’t bruised and beaten just hours ago.I quietly sat beside him and began treating his wounds, careful and gentle with

A new morning. A new beginning.I’d been staring at my phone on the side table for minutes now… still hoping it would ring. But it didn’t.Not even a single text.It still hurt—even if I kept telling myself I’d accepted it.Because he made me get used to it.I got used to waking up to the sound of my phone… to Romeo’s voice being the first thing I’d hear in the morning. But today… It was the loud crowing of roosters and the barking of our neighbor’s dogs that woke me up.And somehow… it only made me feel even more tired. More drained.Like I’d lost a part of myself. My chest felt heavy. But the world doesn’t stop just because mine feels broken.I’m not paralyzed. I’m just hurting. So life must go on… even if my heart is in pieces. After a shower and getting dressed, I stood in front of the mirror.A bitter smile crept onto my lips.Honestly… it looked like I got punched in the face. My eye bags are dark and swollen.I covered them with concealer. Just enough to avoid looking like a ma

"What did you give in return—your body?"Those were the exact words that came from the lips of Romeo’s mother—the man I love.I fell for someone whose world was far from mine. And this... this was what I got in return. Cruel words and humiliation. The worst part? I couldn’t even defend myself. After all, I was just a simple jeweler, working at one of the branches of Jouel Corp., their family-owned diamond jewelry company, where Romeo happened to be my manager. We’d only been together for a month. And on our one-month anniversary, I met his mother for the first time.If I had known this would happen, I would’ve never accepted Romeo’s gift.A stunning, expensive necklace, at the cost of my dignity.I tried to talk to him. Tried to ask why he didn’t say anything... why he didn’t stop her. But Romeo didn’t utter a single word. He wouldn’t even look at me.What started as a beautiful, love-filled day turned into swollen eyes and silent sobs. I didn’t even bother saying goodbye. After work,

  • Nelson de Vedra: The Outcast Billionaire   Epilogue

9 Months LaterOutside the delivery room, Nelson couldn’t sit still. His nerves were on edge, like he needed to go to the bathroom but couldn’t. Over and over again, he pressed his ear against the door of the delivery room, trying to listen for any sign of what was happening inside.“Dorry!” he called out when he heard her long, drawn-out scream, followed by the deep cry of their newborn baby. A smile instantly spread across his face, and feeling weak from the tension, he slowly sank to sit by the door. He felt like he was the one pushing, that he was the one losing strength. It was a good thing no one was allowed inside the delivery room except for medical staff. If he were in there, witnessing Dorry giving birth, he would have probably been the first to pass out.Even now, he could still hear the faint cries of their baby, and it was as if those cries restored his strength. He stood up and wiped the sweat that had been dripping from his forehead, his worries vanishing in an instant.
