Chapter 18: Unexpected Arrival
Elena’s P.O.V:
That night, I hardly got any sleep. The fact that I’ve messed up enough so my parents have to step in kept constantly haunting me. The thought that I had disappointed them enough for them to step in, it was just too stressful.
I wanted to come to LA so I could prove to them that I was a hard worker and that I could pave my own path. That I didn’t need the Macaluson and Thornton names to be famous. But I ended up making things a lot worse; and not just for myself but for my parents as well. I could only imagine the scandal we’ll all be facing once word gets out.
A sudden thought crossed my mind, a thought that I immediately dismissed, but the seeds had already been planted. What if it could actually work out? What if, if I married Knight…No!
I’d already dug my grave; I couldn’t let my child suffer too, in case things went south with Knight. Besides, how much did I e
Chapter 19: Unfinished Business Elena’s P.O.V: I squeezed my eyes shut and leaned my head against the door as soon as I entered my room and shut the door behind me. God! Just when I thought my life was full of drama… But why was he here and not my parents? I sighed and rubbed at my temples, only then realizing that the bouquet of lilies was still in my hand. “Shit!” I went over to my nightstand and picked out an empty vase before going into the bathroom to fill it up and place the flowers in it. They were beautiful, no doubt, but what surprised me was that Landon had remembered that they were my favorite flowers. Deciding that there was no point denying the inevitable, I quickly took a nice warm shower to wash off all the paint and then dried and dressed in a white full sleeve dress that reached my knees and decided to let my hair dry naturally. I didn’t bother putting on any makeup, because La
Chapter 20: Nerve-wracking Knight’s P.O.V: I made my bed; went over to the kitchen to make myself some coffee; waited patiently for the coffee to get done; drank the entire cup and then headed back to the bed; twisted and turned restlessly and then got up to make the bed again. By now I’d already drank five cups of coffee and my bladder was about to burst but I couldn’t seem to snap myself out of this crazy ritual that I had going on since this morning. I was more than a little nervous and I didn’t know what to do about it. Yeah, sure night! You’re a perfect example of a nice guy. First screw a girl without knowing her marital status. Then see yourself plastered all over the newspaper in a shameful position. Then go check the CCTV footage and find some innocent girl moving around backstage doing her business and instantly assume that she’s the culprit. And then do the unthinkable and fool her at a bar and have revenge
Chapter 21: Choices We Make Elena’s P.O.V: “Hi,” I told Knight awkwardly as I stood outside his door. “Can I come in?” “O-of course!” Knight seemed to snap out of his stupor and moved aside to let me through. “Please, have a seat. Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I could’ve come to pick you up.” “I didn’t want to trouble you in case you had plans.” I entered his penthouse apartment and felt quite impressed with the décor inside his house. “Your house is really beautiful.” “Thanks,” he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. “I can give you a tour if you want.” “I do, but maybe later.” I told him as he guided me over to the living room and I sat down on one of the comfortable blue sofas. I was starting to get a lot tired lately; I could sleep on for hours and still feel tired. The doctor says it’s normal but it’s actually quite troubling for me as my work time keeps decreasing. “We need to
Chapter 22: Maybe… Elena’s P.O.V “Here,” Landon held out a steaming cup in front of my face. “What is it?” I took the cup from him and took a whiff of the scents inside the cup. “Hot chocolate?” Landon took his seat beside me as we waited to board our plane and spread his hand at the back of my chair. “I got it because it’s one of your favorites.” He said. “I’m not sure if your pregnancy has affected that.” “No, it hasn’t.” I shook my head and took a small sip, careful not to burn myself. “I can’t have red meats though, or fish. Eggs and chicken seem to be the best option.” “I’m glad you’re still non-vegetarian,” Landon smiled. “I’ve heard of women turning vegetarian or completely vegan when they get pregnant and vice-versa.” “Oh! You’re right!” I exclaimed. “I’ve heard Lara say something similar a while back. She asked if I’d undergone any changes in diet recently.” “See. I’ve been stu
Chapter 23: Coming Home Elena’s P.O.V After the three hour plane ride back to my home in Ontario, Canada, I was just about ready to pass out and not wake up for a year. Not only was I dead tired, but the fear of having to face my parents was a constant icy fist around my heart that kept on squeezing until I was nearly to the point of hyperventilation. I clutched Landon’s arm in mine and gave it a rough squeeze, I tried to speak to him but I couldn’t form words. I was gulping in air, but even then I felt like my lungs weren’t getting enough of it. But even before I could say anything, Landon was already dragging me away towards the restrooms. He wrapped me securely in his arms and took me inside the ladies room. I vaguely remember hearing a few angry protests, but then Landon was speaking to them in a hushed voice and soon, the washroom emptied out and he helped me up on the counter and started rubbing his hand
Chapter 24: Meet the Parents Elena’s P.O.V It’s only been three years since I left home but when I saw the familiar gates of the mansion approaching from a distance, I was immediately swarmed with memories of my childhood days. And when Landon used a remote to punch in the security code, the gates parted for us and I saw a glimpse of my home after a long time, I felt all my breath rush out of me. It was just as I’d remembered it, breathtakingly beautiful. The house had belonged to my grandparents on my father’s side, not his own since my father was adopted, but dad did say they were the only family he knew. The mansion however, was made mostly of floor to ceiling glass walls, which is where it got the name glass mansion from. Mom had her own small property a good twenty minutes ride from here, she still has but she prefers the glass manor. My uncle Christian also stops by often, with his wife and daughter. It’s what I’ve grow
Chapter 25: Stupid and In Love Elena’s P.O.V “Is he still following us?” I asked Landon through gritted teeth, my hands clenched on the seat. I was trying hard to suppress the nausea that kept churning in my stomach, threatening to empty out my already empty stomach. “No.” Landon glimpsed at the rear view mirror momentarily before returning his attention back to the road. “I think we lost him when I took a diversion through Orange Street. He isn’t familiar with the roads here so I’m sure we won’t be seeing him anytime soon.” I released a breath I hadn’t been aware of holding and slumped back in my seat. Slowly, I uncurled my nails from the car seat and placed them on my lap. My knuckles were white and my hands hurt from the strain of holding onto the seat for so long. “He isn’t going to let this go, is he?” I asked Landon, my voice sounding a bit breathless. I expected Landon to be reassuring that he and my da
Chapter 26: Rash Decisions Elena’s P.O.V The house was everything I always wanted. The huge living room was the first sight that greeted me as soon as I entered the door. The kitchen was to the left with an area for a dining table where a table for eight could easily fit in. There were three guest rooms on the ground floor with a common bathroom and four bedrooms on the first floor, each with their separate bathrooms. The windows were huge and the ceilings tall and the house was painted an array of pastels with each room being a different theme. The master bedroom was a beautiful green. But one thing I noticed immediately was that the entire house was devoid of any furniture. After I had inspected every room, been to every corner of the house, I turned to call for Landon but found him leaning against the doorjamb of the master bedroom. When he saw me looking at him, he straightened and came to stand in front of me. Th
