Chapter 17: Between a rock and a very hard surface
Elena’s P.O.V:
I watched the color drain out of Knight’s face as soon as I told him who might be at the door, but as much as I wanted to feel sorry for him, I kinda felt like he deserves this. Oh, who am I kidding? He definitely deserves this and so much more. Serves him right.
I took off my mitts and went over to the couches where I had placed my shrug and pulled it on real quick while Knight stood frozen beside the kitchen counter. To be honest, it was his fault for arriving unannounced. Kareena and I had made plans a couple days earlier when we’d been texting each other and she’d found out about my side-job. Chapter 19: Unfinished Business Elena’s P.O.V: I squeezed my eyes shut and leaned my head against the door as soon as I entered my room and shut the door behind me. God! Just when I thought my life was full of drama… But why was he here and not my parents? I sighed and rubbed at my temples, only then realizing that the bouquet of lilies was still in my hand. “Shit!” I went over to my nightstand and picked out an empty vase before going into the bathroom to fill it up and place the flowers in it. Chapter 20: Nerve-wracking Knight’s P.O.V: I made my bed; went over to the kitchen to make myself some coffee; waited patiently for the coffee to get done; drank the entire cup and then headed back to the bed; twisted and turned restlessly and then got up to make the bed again. Chapter 23: Coming Home Elena’s P.O.V After the three hour plane ride back to my home in Ontario, Canada, I was just about ready to pass out and not wake up for a year. Not only was I dead tired, but the fear of having to face my parents was a constant icy fist around my heart that kept on squeezing until I was nearly to the point of hyperventilation. Chapter 24: Meet the Parents Elena’s P.O.V It’s only been three years since I left home but when I saw the familiar gates of the mansion approaching from a distance, I was immediately swarmed with memories of my childhood days.
