Chapter 37: Night 5 (Countdown)

Being in love was supposed to feel beautiful, Simon thought, so how come he felt like a piece of trash? He was at a bar, nestling a beer bottle in his mouth. He promised himself to have just one bottle and go home. He needed to clear his head; that was all. As he drank his beer, different thoughts ran through his mind, and one of them included the fact that he would never go back to being the man he used to be again. Sure enough, his body and intellect were still intact, but his soul was long gone.

The fact that he could remember what it was like to be Simon and yet knew that he was not was a bit much for him to handle at times. Sometimes, he wished he could tell anyone, especially Simone, how he felt being reincarnated. The old Simon wouldn't have been a sucker for love. He felt like a robot whose software was corrupted to some degree.

"Hey, Shane," he said to no one in particular.

"Yes, what is it?" he heard in his mind. It felt awesome at times, talking to himself and listening
