CHAPTER 3 : FIRST DAY

{YANIE'S POV}

Viela can't stop looking at her outfit when I finished dressing her. She was posing and smiling in the mirror like a beauty queen. I smiled and put on her missing accessories, which is her favorite purple headband. She likes it so much because it was her grandmother's gift when she was two years old.

"Viela, always listen to mommy, okay?" I held her face softly to make our eyes meet. "I'll take you with me but don't be a hothead and follow what mommy said, be a good girl in the company, got it?"

"I got it mommy, I got it." she playfully nodded.

I just nodded and started to fix myself. I finished taking a shower and dressed myself in a uniform. Just fixing my hair and putting on makeup is all I need to do. I went next to Trina who was now also sitting in front of the vanity mirror. We only have one vanity mirror here, so Trina and I need to share. It's okay for us because it's big and still fits even if we use it at the same time. 

"I thought you don't have a job, where are you going?" I was looking at her in the mirror while straightening my hair using a straightener.

She was putting eyeliner on her eye when she answered me. "Yes but I need to leave, did you remember the land that I want to buy in Bagio, I want to buy it now."

She put down the eyeliner on the table in front of us while looking at me arrogantly in the mirror. I chuckled and rolled my eyes at her and just focused on what I was doing. Inside of me I was so proud to have Trina as my friend, she is one of my inspirations. She is the person that doesn't need anyone to survive, she is the standard of independent woman for me.

"You, are you really going to take Viela with you?" She suddenly asked and stood up to help me with my hair. "I still have a lot of time but you, you only have 25 minutes so let me help you."

I let her do my hair when I noticed that she was right. I was going late! Because I focused on dressing Viela. I took the brush and hurriedly started my makeup.

"Yes, I don't have a choice. The CEO really likes her so much. Even Mr. Sebastian didn't tell me, I know he just hired me because of my daughter." I answered her while I was blending the foundation I put on my face.

Trina just laughed and didn't ask any more questions. After she fixed my hair, she sat down again and helped me with my makeup. I really don't know what to do if Trina wasn't at my side. She is really a hero for me. With her help, I finished my makeup for 10 minutes. I took my bag inside of our room and looked for Viela because we already needed to leave but I was surprised to see her in front of the door. The way she looks at me I know she was waiting for me for too long.

"Mommy, we are going to be late! Come on!" She came closer and pulled me by pulling the strand of my bag.

"Okay okay!" I looked to Trina to wave for a goodbye even though Viela was pulling me. "We will go now! Bye, take care!"

She nodded at me while laughing how my daughter was so hard to pull me. "Go, take care too! I love you both!"

After that I just let Viela pull me. I will not win against her though. I couldn't help but to shake my head softly because even when we were already outside of our apartment, she was still holding me as if I was going to run away. Duh, I will be the one who works, not her! When we are already inside of my car, I start the engine and drive. 

The guard appeared as we entered the company. He smiled and greeted us so I responded with a smile before continuing to the elevator. While we were inside the elevator, I made Viela face me to talk but....

"Viela... " She covered my mouth with his thumb as she heard her name and gestured to me to stop from talking.

"I will be quiet and be good, mommy. I got it, don't worry." She gave me a warm smile to make me calm. "You already said that to me 7 times, calm down."

In the way she stopped me, I know she was already tired of hearing it from me over and over. I can't blame myself, this is my first day! I want this day to be nice. And so I will always remind her.

"I was just reminding you." I stood up when the elevator opened. "Hold my hand."

I healed my hand and she immediately got it so we walked out together and went straight to the office of Mr. Sebastian. Ma'am Amanda said that the small space inside the office of Mr. Sebastian will be my office and so when our boss needs something, he doesn't need to call me anymore from outside. 

"Mr. Sebastian!" My daughter's voice echoed when she called Mr. Sebastian. When we came in, he was busy signing something on his table.

She said she will be quiet! 

His eyes lifted and immediately went to my daughter. A little smile appeared on his lips when he saw my daughter. Viela let go of my hand and ran to Mr. Sebastian. I couldn't stop it because it happened so fast. I just shook my head and closed the door before moving in completely inside of the office. I bowed a little when Mr. Sebastian's gaze turned to me. 

"Good morning Mr. Sebastian," I greeted him.

Instead of greeting me back she corrected me as I called him. "Sir Hyxen, stop calling me that I feel old. And that was your office."

Sir Hyxen pointed to the other side of the office and I saw the little space where there is a small table and other things that I can use as secretary. I nodded at him and gestured to Viela to come back to me because I was about to sit down and start working but she shook her head making my jaw drop. Sir Hyxen turned his gaze to my daughter who was already at the side of his lap.

"I don't want mommy, I want to be with my husband's side." Viela shook her head at me. "I will just do what you said if you will claim Mr. Sebastian as your husband, will you?"

She said she listened to me! 

I immediately disagreed with it when I heard a soft chuckle from sir Hyxen. 

"No! Stop that Viela!" I can't stop myself from saying it loudly to stop her.

I already regret letting Viela be here but what can I do? The CEO likes my daughter and a reason why I got hired. But this setup is more okay than me working at our company because at least I am not with my parents house and too much treating special, I want to learn standing on my own and not just relying on my parents.

"Then let her be with my side and just do your work." Sir Hyxen put a bulk of paper in front of me to make me stop glaring at my daughter. "Get it and read. That was the important thing you need to know as my secretary, and also organize my schedule for this whole week."

"Yes, go to work mommy!" Viela as the second voice of sir Hyxen. 

I breathe out to calm myself, refraining from being mad or irritated. 

"Yes sir," I immediately followed what sir Hyxen said and took the paper he placed in front of me before walking to my table to start.

I simply looked at Viela and she only gave me a sweet smile before turning her full attention back to sir Hyxen. I just focus by doing my work and let them talk.

"Do you miss me?" I heard Viela ask him.

What the h*ll?! Why was she asking that? I get a tissue and put it on my ears and so I can't hear them. I want to focus on work and I think I can't do that if I continue listening to them. That was the smartest thing that I did because I really do focus on my work. I finished what sir Hyxen told me to do even by scheduling his appointment for the whole week, I fixed it without stress in my mind. The only need to do is to arrange the papers before giving back to sir Hyxen. 

But I lost my focus on arranging the papers when suddenly someone removed the tissue that was placed in my ear. I immediately stood up when I saw that it was Sir Hyxen.

"Did you need something sir Hyxen?" I quickly asked him.

"She's already hungry, she wants to eat lunch." He pointed to my daughter on his side. 

Oh shoot! I forgot that Viela was with me!

"It's already lunch mommy, my tummy is mad now and can't stop from making a sound." Viela touched her belly and pointed to the wall clock using her pout lips. 

She was right. It's already 12 noon. I quickly grabbed my bag to go downstairs to eat. I heard that there was a cafeteria on the 2nd floor of the company. I was about to pull Viela to leave the office but she sat and so I didn't have a choice to not pull her. When I looked at her, she stood up and pointed at Sir Hyxen.

"You're not even going to invite your boss to eat?" Sir Hyxen asked with a furrowed brow when our eyes met.

Is that included in my work? Is it part of my responsibility to take care of it if he doesn't eat? Is he my son? Although confused, I forced a smile and answered his question.

"I'm sorry, I didn't bother to ask you anymore because I thought you already ate but you can eat with us if you want sir Hyxen." I genuinely said even inside of me hoping that he would say no.

Please say no, it was so uncomfortable. Mostly we are in the company. I don't want other employees to think something suspicious about us three. 

"That's how you think of me? Already done eating and let a kid hungry in front of me? Is that so?" He shook his head like disappointed and he was the first to leave the office.

I couldn't talk when he passed Viela and I. My voice freezes for a moment, reminiscing about what sir Hyxen said. Is he mad because it was disrespectful that I didn't even ask him to eat, even though he was my boss? Or is it because I made him think that he was heartless the way that he ate and let my daughter hungry? That's not what I wanted to tell, he misunderstood it!

"You make him upset mommy, your husband is sulking." Viela giggled and quickly ran outside to follow Sir Hyxen.

Even though my face is demented , I followed them until the three of us reached the cafeteria. I noticed that the other staff immediately looked at us. I tried to just ignore it but it was so hard. Their stares are killing me inside. When we sat down I took the lunch box inside of my bag to just act normal like what is happening is not a big deal. It contained one dish of meat and rice but it wasn't enough for me and Viela so I stood up to buy another dish and one cup of rice. But before I left, I asked sir Hyxen because I didn't want him to say anything again.

"How about you Sir Hyxen? Your food?" I politely asked him.

Instead of answering me he gestured to me to sit down again before pointing at my back. "No need, I already ordered." 

When I looked behind me, two women were approaching, holding a tray with different dishes and rice. I sat down and frowned as I looked at the dishes that they put down. I couldn't believe looking at sir Hyxen who was now looking at Viela with a little smile because Viela was clapping her hand with a wide smile looking at the food.

"Is this for us? You pay for it?" Viela asked him in so much joy.

He just simply nodded and gestured to my daughter to start eating. The stares of other employees got tighter because of this, I even noticed that they were whispering while looking at me and my daughter. I stood up when I couldn't take it anymore. Viela and sir Hyxen were surprised. 

"Where are you going mommy?" Viela asked, confused. "You don't want the food?"

I shook my head quickly at my daughter.  I don't want to say that I can't stand the stares of the people around us because it was so embarrassing to sir Hyxen. It was so unprofessional of me. 

"No, it's not like that, I just think that... " I was trying hard not to buckle the whole talking before pointing to the table where ma'am Amanda and other employees are eating. "I will eat with them and so mommy will know her coworkers, just stay here and eat, okay?"

I didn't wait for my daughter to speak anymore and took the lunch box before bowing briefly to Sir Hyxen for an excuse before walking towards ma'am Amanda's table. They immediately get a chair and give me space for me to sit and eat with them. I was at the side of ma'am Amanda but I think it was more difficult now, they were staring at me from afar earlier but now they are looking at me so close.

"Why?" I chewed and asked them. "Why are you all looking at me like that?"

Ma'am Amanda put down the spoon she was holding and moved her seat closer to me.

"You know what, this was the first time that sir Hyxen agreed to have a kid in the company." Ma'am Amanda was looking at my daughter and sir Hyxen that were normally eating so I couldn't help but to look too. 

"I think our boss really likes your daughter." Anica said, one of the employees here.

I already know her because I already met her in an interview that didn't happen to me because Viela was missing that time. 

"Or maybe the mother..." Amanda simply held me with a teasing look on her face.

Even the other employees who were with us couldn't help but get excited and tease me, which is why I had to stop them. I was so scared that sir Hyxen will notice that we are talking about him. I shook my head at them.

"Stop that, I don't think so, maybe our boss just finds interest in my daughter but not me as you think." I said to stop their criticism. "And I won't let it happen ever, I was here to work, nothing more."

I will not let a man belong to our lives again. That disaster happened in my past is enough. And why was I thinking about it? It was their fault! They make me overthink!

"Hmm..." they just nodded. "Okay!"

They ate again and didn't bother me anymore. That calms me. We also went back upstairs after eating. I continued what I was doing earlier while Viela was still having a conversation with sir Hyxen like she didn't get tired from talking. I just let it go because I know Viela will be sleepy later. And I wasn't wrong because when I finished my work and was about to go home, I saw Viela who was still asleep on the small sofa inside the office.

I don't know how to carry her because I have papers that need to be brought home and my bag together. So even though it was against my heart, I put down my things to wake her up.

"Wake up baby, we need to go home." I was tapping her shoulder softly to wake her up but she just gave me back an irritated snort and went back to sleep again.

What will I do? I can't carry her because I have too many papers to bring home. And it was taking a lot of time if I will first put down the things I need to bought home at my car at the parking lot before going back to get her here, we are in 6 floor for the f*ck sake! My knees already hurt!

"Move," A command from sir Hyxen makes me stand and step back from waking my daughter.

He lifted Viela so easily before looking at me. My eyes winded looking at him while waiting for what he would say.

"Do you have a car? Or you will grab a taxi?" He asked without any expression on his face.

"I have a car, it's downstairs in the parking lot..." I answered and quickly got all my staff to follow him out because as soon as I answered him, he came out without hesitation.

I don't know if he was upset when I woke up Viela so he insisted that he carry my daughter or he just wanted it. Fortunately, there were only a few employees because it was already 6PM so I didn't feel any rush or shyness. When we were already at the front of my car, I immediately put my things on the front seat and opened the backseat door to let him Viela in. He put it down slowly so it didn't interrupt her sleep.

I was about to say thank you when he immediately walked away, going back to the company. That's why I chased and blocked her by standing in front of him. He stopped and looked at me with a mysterious look. 

"What?" He put his two hands inside his pants pocket and looked at me as I looked at him.

"I just want to ask something sir Hyxen, my work as secretary is not included here, it was me as a mother." I directly said that it makes him frown even more. "I'm just curious about how you treated my daughter, why you look so care about my daughter?"

I didn't hear an answer so I talk again.

"I am her mother and I just want to make sure that the people around my daughter is a good person, who has no intention of harming her---"

"I was remembering my younger sister who already passed away in Viela, it's not just because I have a bad plan for your daughter." He spoke to make me stop. "And..."

He takes two steps to walk towards me. I am almost out of breath when he closes his face on me. I swallowed when his gaze dropped to my lips..

"And?" My lips trembled and I felt like I was stuck and didn't know how to step back to avoid his close. 

What is he doing? Is he already like Viela? Teasing me to make me feel shy? Well it's not funny!

He looked back at my eyes and formed a smirk on his lips. "And if you think that I was doing it because I want to be the father of Viela, then I will let you."
