Chapter Eleven: Spiritual, Physical, and Mental

The wolf stared at me with knowing eyes as I sat there frozen. When I moved, she moved, and I realized she was me and wouldn’t hurt me.

“Devon said I should name you, but I think you already have one. What is your name?” I asked her as I tilted my head.

‘You may call Regin.” She spoke telepathically. I was brought back when I was six years old with a stuffed dog I called Regin.

“I named you years ago; I just didn’t know it at the time.” I laughed as I remembered how I dragged that thing everywhere. I was heartbroken when mom left it behind in her panicked dashes to a new home. I understand her rush now, but I was so mad when she left it. It seems so silly now. I miss my mom.

‘I have always been with you.’ Regin said as she blinked.

“Why do you come out when I sleep?” I asked, needing to be answered.

‘I was trapped for nearly two decades. I need to run free.’ Regin said as she laid down. ‘When you sleep, the barrier falls, and I can run free.’
