CLARK POV

Constant buzzing and noise, a cacophony of chaotic thoughts, followed by silence.

*‘I, Alpha Lucian Pascal, hereby banish you from this pack. I never want to see you anywhere near me or my pack again. I also accept your rejection—you now cease to be my mate.’

*‘Oh, because you wanted him to be yours, right? No, he’s mine and mine alone. No one else can have him, not you… not your unborn bastard… Do you hear me?’

*‘Listen to me, Clark. You’re the only woman I seek, and I would never let you go. I promise to never misunderstand you. I will always listen to you, trust you, and be your confidant.

*‘You are nothing more than a pathetic weakling. So what if you’re a healer? Can you heal your soul? Can you truly be happy knowing you’ve stolen another wolf’s betrothed? I hate you, Clark. I hate you, and you hereby cease to be my twin sister!’*

The memories replayed in a maddening loop, each word piercing deeper than the last. My hands clenched involuntarily around something soft, and I jolted upright. My chest heaved as I gasped for air, my body drenched in cold sweat.

“Finally awake, you spoiled brat?”

The raspy voice startled me, and my eyes snapped at the source—a grumpy old man glaring at me.

I scanned my surroundings, my heart pounding as confusion set in. Where was I? The unfamiliar room reeked of herbs and old wood. My gaze returned to the man.

“How am I alive?” The words tumbled out, shaky and raw.

“Ask the Moon Goddess, brat,” he growled, his tone harsh.

I swallowed hard, feeling the sting of his dismissive reply. “Did you save me?”

“Are you dumb? Do you see anyone else around here? Do you think you magically survived death? Even being a renowned healer, I had to spend days here! Stop bombarding me with questions and get out of my cottage!” he barked.

Despite his abrasive demeanour, a small smile tugged at my lips. “Thank you, Grandpa,” I said, bowing my head slightly, my tone soft.

“I’m not your grandpa! Do you even know your own family? Call me Fritz!” he snapped, his saliva splattering my face.

“Alright, I will—” My sentence was cut short as he kicked me off the bed. I landed on the floor with a thud, clutching my stomach.

“Watch my baby, old man!” The words slipped out before I could stop them. His expression froze in shock, and I instantly regretted it.

“I’m sorry,” I mumbled, scrambling to my feet and brushing hay off my dress.

“Keep your apologies to yourself, brat. Drag your lazy feet and follow me. It’s time for training,” he muttered, already heading out.

I expected him to move at a snail’s pace, but to my astonishment, he was as swift as lightning. Grabbing a walking stick as he moved, the old man disappeared into the distance, forcing me to run after him.

“Wait!” I yelled, only to collide with his back when he stopped abruptly.

“You brat!” he spat, his saliva showering my face yet again.

Before I could react, his walking stick smacked the side of my head. Stars exploded in my vision, and I wobbled unsteadily.

“Get down and give me twenty push-ups in a minute!” he barked.

My jaw dropped. Was he serious? “Grandpa—”

“Now!” His stick came down again, landing squarely on my head. Without another word, I dropped my arms and gave out, and I collapsed, panting.

“I can’t do—”

Another sharp crack of the stick silenced me. “Restart! I don’t condone failure,” he growled.

After several more attempts, each accompanied by a generous helping of pain, I finally completed the twenty push-ups. Barely clinging to consciousness, I rolled onto my back, hoping for mercy.

The old man’s unimpressed gaze bored into me. “Pathetic,” he muttered, pointing to a fallen tree nearby. “Carry that to the cottage. You have thirty minutes, or you fend for yourself tonight.”

I stared at the massive trunk, my heart sinking. It was easily three times the size of a gorilla.

Determined not to give up, I approached the tree and tried lifting it. It didn’t budge. Exhausted and defeated, I turned my gaze to Fritz’s retreating figure.

He had saved my life, but his insensitivity and absurd demands were unbearable. I couldn’t stay here, not like this.

Grabbing a headscarf to secure my belongings, I walked away, ignoring the throbbing in my arms and legs. I didn’t know where I was going, but anywhere far from him seemed better.

______

It was already dark, and my stomach growled painfully. I hadn’t eaten all day—not for lack of hunger, but because there was nothing to eat. Worse still, I had nowhere to rest my head.

The night was eerily silent until the faint rustling of leaves broke the stillness. Movement behind me. I spun around, ready to defend myself, but the sight before me froze me in place. My breath hitched, and my heart thundered in my chest.

A wolf.

Its low growl sent chills racing down my spine. The glint in its eyes was enough to terrify anyone, and I felt my legs trembling beneath me. Instinctively, I staggered backwards, my mind racing with panic. My foot caught on a branch, and I fell flat on my face, mere inches away from the beast.

I lay there trembling, every part of me screaming to move, to run, but fear held me captive. The wolf lunged at me, and I braced myself for the end, the image of death clear in my mind.

Suddenly, a heavy wooden object struck the wolf, the impact powerful enough to send it sprawling. A sharp weapon—crafted from wood—pierced its chest, silencing its growls. It twitched for a moment before going still, lifeless.

“You going to lay there all night, or are you going to get up, you brat?”

The familiar voice made my head snap up. I immediately recognized him.

"What are you doing here?" I spat, anger overtaking my initial shock. Scrambling to my feet, I dusted the leaves off my clothes, glaring at the man before me.

"Oh, you know, just playing hide-and-seek with you in the woods," he said, sarcasm dripping from every word. His eyes narrowed. "Are you nuts? I just saved your sorry butt, and all you’ve got for me is some stupid question?”

His face was inches from mine, and his spit flew as he shouted. I wiped my cheek with the back of my hand, my patience snapping.

"I didn’t ask you to save me!" I yelled. "It was your choice—both times! I appreciate it, sure, but that doesn’t give you the right to dictate my life, you cranky old man! And stop following me!" Turning on my heel, I stormed off into the darkness.

"Fine!" he bellowed after me. "Go ahead—head deeper into the wilderness. There are plenty more beasts out there just waiting to tear you apart. Do you think this wolf was bad? Oh, they’ll make you miss our kind—or should I say, your ex-kind. Wolfless, weakling, a pathetic healer—a stupid, pompous brat!"

I froze, his words cutting deeper than I wanted to admit.

"You’re going to let their words define you? Prove them wrong. Show them what you’re made of. Make them fear you, beg for your mercy, crave your approval. Make them pay for everything they’ve done. You think I don’t know what happened? Whoever injected you with wolfbane and killed your wolf, leaving you wolfless, they deserve to pay. Not for anyone else—but for your child."

His words kept replaying in my head, no matter how much my heart was trying to push it away, my mind knew he was right.

I would triumph. They would beg for my forgiveness. They would kneel before me.

My jaw tightened as I turned to face him, my voice steady but icy. "I agree. When do we start training?"

A newfound determination surged through me, hardening my gaze and numbing my heart. I allowed the last vestiges of weakness to drain away. It was time for a new me—a better me.

The air in the forest was heavy with tense anticipation as we emerged from the shadows. Moonlight cloaked the world about us in an otherworldly glow. I could feel the adrenaline still rushing through me, each pulsating wave igniting my fierce desire to protect my son-from those awful one-on-one encounters with Sarah. But all of that was dismissed the moment we went into a clearing: the ominous weight lay upon my heart-mixed with fear and uncertainty over what lay ahead.Lucian stood by my side, a tortured, desperate urgency stamped outwardly upon his face. "Clark ," he stammered, his voice gaining strength, yet each word rife with emotion. "You must come back to the Palace.”I I turned toward him, my brow furrowing. "Back to the palace? After everything that has just happened? The thought of facing Sarah again makes me sick. You know I cannot do that. I can't stand the idea of her tormenting Lorenzo while I'm there." "Please," he said, stepping in even closer. "My mother's health is

  • RETURN OF THE LUNA: RECLAIMING HER BACK   Deep inside me

I dashed through the woods with the weight of the herbs steady in my grip and an urgency flowing through my veins. Lorenzo needed my help-a need to thwart further danger for him. But as I neared the village, a ghostly twist in my stomach told me that something was dangerously wrong.Just outside the healer's house, before entering, I transformed back into a human form with my heart weighed down by anxiousness. “Lorenzo!” I shouted, my voice cutting through the stillness. “I’m back!”I received only silence in response. Panic chewed me up from the inside. I ran to the door, kicked it open, and it revealed nothing but an empty room and a heavy silence that sent shivers down my back. The healer was long gone, and there were no signs of my child.“Where is everybody?” I muttered as the terror weighed down in my stomach. I wheeled around and dashed for the central square, with the same feeling of chaos brewing just beneath the surface. As I came closer, muffled sounds reached my ears: cea

The very air crackled with chaotic energy in the village. We walked into the healer's house with the strong scent of herbs permeating the air mixed with the warmth of flickering candlelight. I placed Lorenzo on a wooden table in the middle of the room as my heart raced, panic coursing through my veins."He has to be helped!" I begged, trembling in fear. "Please, he's losing so much blood!"The healer, with kind eyes and silver hair, stepped forward. Her expression went from calm to urgent in seconds. "Get him water and clean cloths," she ordered in a commanding tone. She began quick examinations of Lorenzo's injuries while I scrambled for anything she wanted."Clark, stay by his side," the healer told me, her hands working nimbly over my son. "You need to be strong for him."I nodded, my heart breaking as I watched the healer applying pressure to Lorenzo's throat, her hands deftly trained. "He is going to be fine, right?" I said, my voice growing desperate. The healer looked up. "He i

  • RETURN OF THE LUNA: RECLAIMING HER BACK   The Shattered Moment

Clark POV My now panicked thoughts surged southward, where everything dull was drowned in a river of panic. "Lorenzo!" I screamed its inarticulate cry, with all the desperation in my heart. The world around me dimmed; I saw only my son; the horror of his situation now pierced my heart like a dagger.James, the Silver Fang warrior, stood there, wearing a cruel smile, his eyes sparkling with sadistic joy. "Look how easily your love can be crushed!" he mocked. "One simple choice, and your precious son suffers.""Let him go! You don't have to do this!" I screamed, a tremble in my voice fully justified under this heavy shroud."Oh, but I do," James said, gripping Lorenzo's neck even more tightly. "This is a lesson for you, Clark. You should have known better than to challenge the Silver Fang Pack.""Please!" My heart galloped in my chest as I struggled against Lucian's fierce hold on me. "Don't hurt him!"Across the throat of my son, James snapped his claws with one swift brutal motion. I

  • RETURN OF THE LUNA: RECLAIMING HER BACK   Heart of Grove

CLARK We gazed upon the sacred grove infused with ancient magic and mystic powers. The trees stood tall, their leaves glimmering under the moon's pride and casting inscrutable shadows about us. I turned to Lucian, burdened by weighty decisions yet to be made.“Lucian,” I said, voice steady with underlying concern, “about leaving the herb we actually came for. Your mother wants it, but... the Moonstone… could go even further.”Lucian's expression grew even more grim. “Clark, the Moonstone does not allow for contemplation. Silver Fang Pack gets it first, they get to use powers we cannot contend with. We must protect our pack.""But your mother..." I began, but he interrupted. “She can wait,” he called, now in a near-hiss of urgency. “We cannot let the Moonstone get into the wrong hands. The time is now for this choice.” I took a deep breath to relieve the tension binding us between. “You're damn right. We're getting the Moonstone and then deciding how to get the herb. We have to do t

  • RETURN OF THE LUNA: RECLAIMING HER BACK   Calm before the storm

CLARK POV The field where expectations were gathering post-fight was anything but calm. The sun was way below the horizon, and only the waning light of dusk could touch our faces. I could not help remembering the past. It was weighing heavy on my heart. The Silver Fang Pack still remained out there, and not yet over.Lucian moved closer and spoke low. "Clark, what do we do now? We cannot be too secure."I just nodded. Heavy was the weight of leadership. "We must regroup and reinforce our defenses. If they are preparing for an ambush, we need to be prepared." The men exchanged glances, spirited resolve battling anxiety. An omega added, "What of the artifact? They should not be permitted to lay their hands on that.""I know." From within, I felt the disturbance beat its mighty wings. “We must determine what the artifact is and where it is hidden; with this knowledge, we will have the upper hand.”As we laid out our next course of action, I was sensing the fast approach of losing time.

  • RETURN OF THE LUNA: RECLAIMING HER BACK   What's their plans

“Leave?” I repeated, confusion swirling in my mind. “We're not going anywhere without knowing the truth. What do you know about their plans?”The woman hesitated, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her face. “They're planning an attack, but it's not just against your pack. They are after something far more dangerous.”“Dangerous how?” I pressed, my heart racing in dread. “We need to stop them! What can we do?” “They're after this powerful artifact buried deep within the forest—it will help tilt the balance of power in their favor. And should they succeed in recovering it, the danger will not just be for your pack; all packs in this area will become endangered!”It was a headache to process what she had just said. “That can't happen. We've got to warn others!”Before I made any moves, the ambience had shifted; shadows deepened. The woman was now staring back at us with wide eyes. “You should leave now! They are coming!”I felt panic rising in me, but as I turned to run, the sound of a

  • RETURN OF THE LUNA: RECLAIMING HER BACK   Not going Easy

Disorientation must have lasted a long time before I came partially to my senses; I was lying on the cool surface of the forest floor, with the coolness of the earth pressed against my skin. Everything felt alien, even my feelings; hence I considered that maybe my senses were heightened, and very faint, far-off sounds reached my ears: leaves rustled, leaves murmured. I pushed myself up and blinked in the light coming through the branches. “Clark!” came Lucian's voice, filled with worry. My heart was in my throat, and I attempted to sit up, looking around. The others were scattered, and the extremely beautiful woman was nowhere in sight. “Over here!” I croaked out. Just my control held as relief flooded in upon the arrival of Lucian, who knelt beside me. “Thank the moon you are safe!” he said, shaking me and bursting to his feet. “We thought we lost you.” “What happened?” My whirling head needed the rest to consider it. “Where is everyone?” “I don’t know,” he said, glancing anxious

  • RETURN OF THE LUNA: RECLAIMING HER BACK   Am not your Enemy

TATIANA POV . Standing with Raphael near the entrance, a small band of warriors summoned by him—one beta and two omegas-would be accompanying us to the Silver Fang territory."We want to remain small," I told Raphael while adjusting the several supplies we had amassed. "Too much commotion would arise. The Silver Fang Pack would never let us slip by undetected."Raphael nodded, glancing at the fighters lined up. "I trust these three. They're very capable and loyal. We might need them when we get there."Just as we were stepping out, Lorenzo came up to me, his round and pretty little face full of worry. He placed his small arms around my own waist and looked up at me with wide eyes full of fear. "Mommy, I’m scared,” he barely whispered.I squatted down and gave him a tight hug. "I know, sweet boy; but you will be safe here. You must promise me to stick with the others and stay away from Harper and her baby. They are not good people."I didn’t realize Raphael had been listening to this
