It took a week to resume when a letter was sent by the school to all parents. The mail came with the latest developments of the school. While some parents were left in shock, some never believed the details in the mail. The first two weeks of the new term with new management were phenomenally superb. The students were intensely bombarded with classes upon classes; assignments upon assignments, to the point that football activities ceased to only Sundays and Saturdays. The ss3 students have been minding their studies with less showcasing of power in terms of drilling and maltreatment. The immediate impacts of the new management and revamped functionaries were visible. Yet there were still some illegal activities that were still present in the seminary. One night, the principal called for all the ss3 students after a secret report got to him that a huge champions league match was going on between Real Madrid and Chelsea. “Hey, go to hostel C2 and call the senior perfect for me”. The convent games started on Monday, with all the schools arriving on Sunday. Each school was given a hostel, some hostels were on the host school premises while some schools were taken to the church Conference hostels. A total of 21 schools were present. The football along with other games was going on simultaneously. The Annunciation convent topped the medal table with 15 gold medals and 5 silver in addition to the 6 bronze they won on the first day. On the Wednesday evening of the week, the semi-final matches were played, in the first semi-final game, the Annunciation convent won the St Anthony memorial girls while in the second semi-final game, the Morning Stars convent defeated the All saints convent too. Around 6 pm that Wednesday, all outdoor games were stopped for the indoor games. “Yesterday was a great day, we have already 5 gold medals and two bronze medals; you guys did exceptionally well”. The sports master applauded the team very early Friday morning. “I never expected such an outstanding outing, am still startled by the performances, I must ensure the full reward gets to all”. “Our darling supporters, you all are superb, we showed them pepper; those sounds were sounds of victory, almost the whole students now want to be our student”. For a few minutes, some of them were using slang that signifies joy and excitement. “We will put in more; you all know we need to win more; it will go a long way to put more fear in the hearts of the opponent more importantly as the main game of seminary schools approaches”. The students were to return to school on Saturday the day after the return of the champions from the inter-convent games. However, before the return of the boys to the school, the sports master had already put a call across to the principal on the importance of having a delicious dinner with the 30-man squad. The principal didn't think it twice as he did the needful. He agreed on a two-day dinner. Two goats were slaughtered for the reception of the champions. The boys returned to the empty school environment with songs of victory, hitting sounds and drums with their band sets and any available container. The community men and women were very happy to see the trophies being displayed from the side glasses of the bus. From the sound of victory, they were convinced that this one must have ended extraordinarily. Early Saturday morning, the functionaries who were not partakers of the just concluded convent games returned to school. They had a brief meeting with the principal as usual and received the marching orders for the remaining weeks of the term. “This is the last phase; within three weeks, none of you will remain in any functional office”. The principal began his speech.“I strongly demand the best as you have always been giving, I demand the very best; knowing fully that the end of every life activity justifies the beginning”. “You all were chosen because we saw some qualities needed for a better state of the citadel and these last week's, we also demand to see the very best”.
