Them before me

(IVORY’S POV)

I stood frozen, the room spinning under the weight of what I had just seen. Each second that passed felt like a hammer driving the realization deeper into my mind. My heart beat heavily in my chest, and I could barely breathe. Across from me, Alaric’s face twisted in anger instead, as if I were the one who had done something wrong.

“Say something, Alaric, will you? How could you?” My voice was sharp with fury, and my emotions were uncontrollable. This was despicable and shameful—sexting another? No matter how he spun it, this was cheating.

“Ivory,” he snapped, stepping closer and yanking his phone from my trembling hands. "Wow, just... wow."

“What the hell were you thinking, going through my phone?” His voice was cold and hard, completely devoid of the warmth I was used to. The man I had loved and trusted now felt like a stranger. But did I truly not see this coming?

“How could you?” I choked out, my voice cracking. Tears stung my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. “Valerie? After everything?” I wanted him to show remorse and understand the damage he'd done. But there was no guilt on his face—just anger that he’d been caught.

“You had no right,” he hissed, his eyes dark. “No right to go through my phone. That was an invasion of my privacy.”

“Oh, I had every damn right, Alaric. I have every right to question you and your mistress. How long has this been going on? How long have you been sneaking behind my back?”

His jaw tightened, but he said nothing. The silence that followed made my heart sink. I wanted him to deny it—even if I knew the truth. Denial would mean he still cared. But no apology came. No regret. Just a maddening silence that drove me to the brink.

I shook my head, bile rising in my throat as everything I thought I knew about him crumbled. It had always been her, hadn’t it? I was his wife, yet I felt like the other woman. I had to get out of there. I couldn’t stay in the

same room with him, knowing what he had done.

Without another word, I turned and bolted for the door. I ran upstairs to the attic bedroom, away from them, faster than I thought possible, tears finally spilling over. I slammed the bedroom door behind me and locked it. My chest heaved as I leaned against the door, shaking uncontrollably. Even Lily, my wolf, retreated, unable to bear the weight of Alaric’s betrayal. He had tainted us.

I heard his heavy footsteps coming up the stairs, followed by the sound of him pounding on the door.

“Ivory! Open the door! Let me explain!”

Explain? I scoffed. What was there to explain? Deep down, I wasn’t just afraid of the affair—I was terrified of him telling me he was tired of waiting, that I couldn’t satisfy his needs.

“Please, Ivory, open the door!” His voice softened, but it didn’t matter. I couldn’t hear him anymore; I couldn’t bear the sight of him. I loved him too much, and that was the worst part.

Exhaustion took over as my sobs slowed. My heart ached in ways I had never known before. But I had betrayed myself more than anyone. The signs were always there, but I chose to ignore them, clinging to the idea that my marriage was perfect and I was lucky to marry the hot Alpha Alaric. I had lived in denial, not wanting to face the truth.

As my sobs quieted, sleep pulled me under. But even in my dreams, his amber eyes and deceit haunt me.

*********

I was running with the speed of lightning—running for my life.

The forest was dark and dense, the stench of death hanging heavy in the air. My legs were barely keeping up as I fled, panting desperately. I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t look back.

Growls echoed behind me, the bloody rogues gaining ground. No matter how fast I ran, they were faster, closing in. They were everywhere, surrounding me.

Just as the first rogue leaped toward me to attack, an overwhelming light pierced the darkness. A figure appeared, powerful and commanding, cutting down the rogue with a single blow. I froze, breathless, as the others scattered in fear.

“Who... who are you?” I stammered, awestruck by the figure’s presence. Lily, my wolf, stirred, wanting to bow in submission. Strange.

The man turned to me, his eyes locking onto mine, sending a chill down my spine. His face was both familiar and foreign. He smirked and said, “Your husband.”

I gasped, my mind racing. The Alpha King of the second sphere of Mystical Blue Land? Before I could ask more, the dream shattered.

*********

Then I woke up with a start, my heart racing, sweat clinging to my skin. It was morning already. The dream had felt so real. The Alpha King? Why now, amid all this chaos?

The blare of car horns outside snapped me out of my thoughts. I stumbled to the window, squinting as I tried to make sense of what I was seeing.

Outside, a car was parked at the entrance of the packhouse. Guards were unloading bags with an urgency that unsettled me. What was happening?

I threw on a robe and rushed downstairs. The sight that greeted me stopped me in my tracks.

Valerie was here. Walking through my home as if she owned it. The nursery—the room I had lovingly prepared for our first pup—was now being filled with her belongings.

“What is going on?” I demanded, my voice trembling with fury as I marched toward Valerie. “Why are you putting those things in there?”

One of the guards barely glanced at me. “It’s the Alpha’s command, Luna.”

The Alpha’s command? My blood boiled. This was my home, my life—and he dared to bring her here? Not long after, Alaric stepped into the room; his face was set in a tight scowl. Glancing around, he gestured to the guards with his hands. “Everyone out,” he commanded, his voice low but firm.

The guards scurried away, leaving just the three of us — Alaric, Valerie, and me. He turned to me, his expression unreadable, his voice too gentle for my liking. “Ivory, there’s something you need to know.”

My heart sank. I glanced at Valerie, standing a few feet away, her eyes downcast.

“Valerie is having my first pup.”

For a moment, everything froze. His words echoed in my mind: Valerie. His first pup? My breath caught in my throat, and the ground beneath me seemed to give way.

“I had to,” he continued as if that explained everything. “The pack needed an heir, Ivory. They were growing restless. I couldn’t keep waiting for you.”

I froze at his words. This wasn’t about love or family. It was about his pride—about proving something to the pack.

“I understand,” I said quietly, the shame and hurt burning in my chest. “I wasn’t enough for you.”

“No, Ivory—” he started, but I couldn’t listen. I clenched my hands, my nails digging into my palms, to stop myself from breaking down.

“Poor thing,” Valerie purred, her voice dripping with false sympathy. “It must be hard, knowing you’re almost barren.”

Her words were daggers, twisting in the wound that had already been cut deep.

“Enough, Valerie,” Alaric snapped. “Ivory is still the Luna of the Silver Pack, and you will respect her.”

Luna. The title felt hollow now. What was the point of being Luna if I couldn’t give the pack what it needed?

“I’ll take my leave,” I said, my voice brittle but steady. I walked out without looking back, each step heavier than the last.

I had given everything to this pack, to him. And now it was all gone—stolen by Valerie and her unborn child. I had nothing left. Not even hope.

I felt a crushing pain in my chest as I landed thud on the bed in the attic bedroom.

My head felt heavy with the betrayal. Will I survive this humiliation?

  • Revenge Of The Forgotten Luna   79. Declining her request

~Ivory~The next morning, I was up early. My eyes fluttered open, and when the bright light of the sun streamed through the window, hitting my face, I groaned.I didn’t want to move. I was comfortable and didn’t feel the need to rise, but I knew staying in bed wasn’t an option.Although we weren’t back home and my duties as temporary Luna weren’t officially on the line, there were still things I had to do.Like checking on Riley. After a few seconds of enjoying the warmth of my blanket, I sighed and tossed the covers aside, getting out of bed.I freshened up and dressed. I walked into the hallway, the house filled with the chatter of servants. As I passed by, they immediately brightened and greeted me.I waved and replied, continuing to Riley’s room. When I reached her door, it was open, and as I stepped inside, I found her playing with the dolls Grandpa Dimitris had gifted her and she wasn’t alone. Beside her was Heather.“Good morning, Riley,” I greeted cheerfully, walking into the

  • Revenge Of The Forgotten Luna   78. Goofy Alpha King

~Ivory~Despite the earlier disruption, with Heather’s help, I still managed to enjoy the party. After what felt like an eternity, the clock finally struck 10:59 p.m., and the guests began filtering out.I was relieved and exhausted. Heather looked just as drained, and Zeeb was nowhere in sight. It had been like that since I left him on the balcony. After joining Lydia in saying goodbye to the last of the guests and bidding her goodnight, Heather and I headed inside, taking the long way back.“You had fun, didn’t you?” Heather asked as we climbed the stairs side by side.I chuckled and nodded. “I did. Thank you for dragging me back to the party. You were right; I needed it.”Heather laughed, bumping her shoulder against mine. “Told you. And did you see how excited everyone was? They loved you. After that dance, I bet my life they’re gonna miss us when we leave.”“They are, huh?” I muttered, my gaze dropping to the floor as my mind shifted to thoughts of returning.Zeeb hadn’t told me

  • Revenge Of The Forgotten Luna   77. Do it soon…

~Alpha King Zeeb~ “I’ll head in first,” Maya said, walking out of the balcony even before I could respond. As the balcony door closed behind her, I released a frustrated grunt and ran a hand through my hair, tussling the strands. She was pulling away, but not because of the kiss. No, the withdrawal that was evident on her face and in her scent wasn’t something that had just popped up. It had been there, brewing since the night we came to Father’s territory. What was going on? My wolf whined at the realization that I knew little about what was bothering our mate, and that, in turn, bothered me. I didn’t like Maya’s withdrawn demeanor, but could I really blame her? I wasn’t exactly sure what had been making her uncomfortable. So much had happened, and was still happening, and her attitude was… understandable. I had felt the frustration and stress radiating off her, but at the same time, the confusion in her scent and the way she tried so hard to put on a mask told me there

  • Revenge Of The Forgotten Luna   76. Curiosity

~Ivory~ I pulled away, shoving Zeeb in the chest to create some distance between us, my eyes wide as I turned toward the door. But… no one was there. We were alone, with the door slammed shut behind us as it had been when Zeeb first walked in. But that couldn’t be possible. I frowned, recalling vividly that Zeeb had indeed shut the door behind him when he entered. So, the only way the door could have opened was if someone else had come in. Which meant… An icy chill snaked down my spine as the possibility hit me that someone might’ve seen us kissing. I turned my gaze sharply to Zeeb. “Someone was here.” Zeeb frowned but didn’t respond immediately, as though he was trying to figure something out, most likely trying to detect who had been spying by the lingering scent in the air. But even for him, it seemed like a daunting task to tell, especially with so many guests at the party, scents flying around. But I wouldn’t deny the fact that he also had abilities far surpassin

  • Revenge Of The Forgotten Luna   75. Acceptance or manipulation?

~Ivory~My eyes flew open at the unexpected reveal.“R-Rendering them human?” I repeated, genuine surprise lacing my voice.Being a special Luna from the Legend was one thing, but possessing a power so unimaginable… that was something else entirely. My brows furrowed as I tried to digest the information I had just been given. I could feel their eyes—Zeeb’s, Vinita’s, even Dimitris’s—all fixed on me, watching closely, silently waiting. But for what?A reaction? A decision? A sign that I understood what this meant?Dimitris was the first to speak, breaking the silence that had stretched on longer than I would have liked.“This power… it changes everything,” he said quietly, his voice laced with both awe and caution. His eyes remained locked on mine. “You need to understand what you are now and what that means for all of us.”“What it means for all of us?” I asked. A second passed, and when no one answered, the silence became its own kind of response. Then, like a thread snapping loose i

  • Revenge Of The Forgotten Luna   74. Special Luna

~Ivory~ Confusion washed over me as I looked between Vinita and Zeeb, trying to understand what had prompted Vinita’s reaction and Zeeb’s words. The growing whispers in the room weren’t helping either. “Something special?” I asked, narrowing my eyes slightly. “What exactly are you talking about?” Zeeb’s smile remained, but from his eyes, I could tell even he was trying to wrap his head around the words he had just spoken. Nonetheless, he nodded and took a step forward, reaching out to touch me. It wasn’t intentional—more like an instinctive reaction to being thrown into the spotlight so suddenly. With all the watchful eyes on us, I instinctively took a step back, avoiding his touch. Zeeb’s face fell ever so slightly. It wasn’t a pleasant sight, and I felt the urge to apologize—to let him know I wasn’t avoiding his touch because I hated it but because I had been caught off guard, overwhelmed by all the eyes and whispers surrounding us. But there were more pressing matters

  • Revenge Of The Forgotten Luna   73. The one with the gift

~Ivory~"We've heard so much about you. We're so glad to finally meet the famous Maya in person." A regal couple, whom Dimitris introduced as the Alpha and Luna of moonpack, extended their hands for a handshake, which I gladly took, accepting their greetings."Thank you very much for your kind words," I replied, still feeling awkward to be put under the spot. The Luna then proceeded to gush about my beauty."Everyone spoke of your beauty, but seeing you in person surpasses all expectations. You are indeed a catch." I gave a nervous chuckle as she continued, remarking on my pale skin and we fell into an easy conversation, the tension I felt earlier long forgotten. There was something about them that I found comforting. Another couple approached. I recognized the man from the assessment as a board member. Though we exchanged pleasantries, I sensed a subtle hostility in the way their eyes burned, the scrutiny, and the way they exchanged knowing glances between themselves, but I couldn't

  • Revenge Of The Forgotten Luna   72. Settling in

~Ivory~I leaned into Zeeb’s touch. For a moment, I almost lost myself in his arms, everything fading into a blur around us—and that was what scared me. I was scared of losing myself yet again. I wanted to open up, to tell him about Mrs Nora and the visions I got, but I didn't know how. I didn't know where to start. So instead, I bottled it all up. “Please leave before anyone sees you here.” Instead, I pushed him away, afraid of confronting whatever this was. No matter the bridges I created between us, Zeeb always found a way to fill in the gaps.He was reluctant at first. I knew he wanted to oppose me, to challenge me, to say he didn’t care about being seen. It was right there, at the tip of his tongue, but he sighed, his shoulders slumping briefly before he nodded and placed a lingering kiss on my forehead.I watched him walk away. My wolf snarled at the back of my mind, crossed with me for ruining the moment with her wolf, but I couldn’t afford to entertain her shenanigans. Instea

  • Revenge Of The Forgotten Luna   71. Surprise party

~Alpha King Zeeb~ “So…” I trailed off, clearing my throat to gain Father’s attention. His normally hard features softened slightly, and I knew this was the perfect moment to finalize the discussion. No matter how difficult he was trying to be, I reminded myself that I was doing this for Heather. “About the mating ceremony…” His shoulders tensed instantly, a clear sign that this was a sore topic for him. He shook his head in disapproval before I could even finish. “We’ve been over this,” he said in a low, firm voice. This time, he fully turned toward me, his gaze sharp. “As far as I am concerned, no lineage of mine will be tied to bad blood, soiling our perfect generation. Derrick and Heather happening is out of the question, and that is final.” I clenched my fists, swallowing the fury bubbling inside me. Once again, Father was doing the same thing—dictating our lives under the guise of protection. I knew he had our best interests at heart, but his love came at a cost. I could
