The Sovereign Gate

Emery’s POV

The heavy scent of sulfur hangs thick in the air as Valerius and I step out from the shadow of the mountain pass.

Before us is the Sovereign Crescent strong hold. It rises out of the stone valley like a pointed crown of weathered basalt and black iron, its towering ramparts cutting sharply into the sky above. Banners of deep crimson and obsidian whip violently in the high mountain wind, stamped with the claw-slashed moon of the royal bloodline.

Whispers in the ShadowsEmery’s POVThe morning sky over the stronghold is a myriad of colors. Pink, purple, orange and cold gray stretch across the horizon as the sun clears the uneven mountaintops.I stand on the balcony of the high council quarters, leaning my forearms against the rail chilled by the morning frost. I relish the cold air that burns my lungs with every slow breath, cooling the heat within me. Down in the grand courtyard, the early light hits the wet paving stones, making them shine like polished steel. The delegates are already awake. Some are returning or just leaving for a run with their pack members, different colors of wolves scatter in all directions. Small groups of pack leaders gather near the central fountain, their dark coats pulled tight against the mountain draft. I can see the tension in the way they stand. Shoulders locked. Heads leaning close together. Eyes darting toward the upper windows every few seconds. Cassius’s speech from yesterday accomplished

A Budding DeceptionSilas's POVThe grand hall smells of polished mahogany, rich leather, and overpriced colognes.Huge glass chandeliers hang high above the central aisle, casting long shadows across the hundreds of regional leaders packed into the tier seating. I stand near the heavy iron doors on the western side of the room, my hand resting on my belt. My shoulder hurts where the wound from last week is still healing, but I keep my posture straight. At the center platform, King Valerius sits in the high iron chair. Emery stands two steps behind his right shoulder, dressed in a sleek charcoal dress with thin silver threading along the sleeves. She looks ethereal, still, and completely composed. Her full body has changed over the years, still ravishing in its fullness, there is a defined quality to her now that shows just how strong she is.Cassius walks up to the central podium, raising both hands to address the crowd."Honored Alphas, elders, and delegates," Cassius begins, his lou

Sparks and SilverEmery's POV "You have five seconds to explain why you're talking to me before I throw you through that wall," I say.I keep my voice clear of any emotion, holding my ground near the equipment rack. Silas stands near the entrance, his chest heaving under his distractingly tight T-shirt. He looks frenzied. Panic and sweat glisten on his face, but there's something else in his eyes, something frantic that makes my senses snap to attention immediately."Emery, please," Silas implores, taking a single step toward me before stopping himself. "I know you hate me. I know you don't trust a word out of my mouth. But you have to listen. Noelle is here. She met with Cassius last night on the eastern border."My wolf stirs, the feeling similar to when her fur stands up along her spine."Noelle?" I repeat softly."She escaped the Silver Moon dungeons," Silas says, the words spilling out of him in a desperate rush. "She traded the pack’s security codes and her Siren Howl to Cassi

Trainer ThorneEmery’s POVThe morning air in the outdoor training arena is cool, smelling of dirt and heavy rubber mats.I hit the heavy bag again. Left hook. Right cross. The leather snaps under my knuckles. My breath comes in steady, rhythmic bursts as sweat trickles down the back of my neck. I do not touch the Silver Flame inside me. I leave it resting deep in my chest. Magic is fine for a war, but if I cannot rely on muscle, speed, and clean footwork, I am dead the second a nullifying spell hits the room. The heavy steel doors at the far end of the facility slide open with a low hiss.Footsteps echo across the concrete floor. I do not stop punching, but my wolf perks up, tracking the movement. Alyssa Thorne steps into the ring area, surrounded by six Vanguard trainers. They all stop short when they see me, but I pay them no mind, flipping the few strands of hair that escape my bun.She wears a black tank top, her muscular arms covered in chalk and light scars. She stops a few fee

A Brewing Deception Silas’s POVI can't sit still. The floorboards in the guest quarters creak under my weight with every step I take, but stopping isn't happening. My blood is on fire. It is a smoldering heat that is roiling deep inside me, making me restless. The image of her eyes keeps burning through my mind. Emotionless and distant. Like she was booking through me not at me. Five years I spent carrying her memory like a wound, unending in its festering, and seeing her standing there on that balcony in silver... she looked like a stranger. A beautiful stranger who wants nothing to do with me."Sit down, Silas. You're going to wear a hole in the carpet."Matthias sits on the edge of the leather sofa, his broad hands resting on his knees. He looks exhausted. We both are."How am I supposed to sit down?" I snap, stopping near the window. I pull the dark curtain back an inch, staring out at the floodlights illuminating the paved courtyard below. "She looked right through me, Matthi

A Bond Turned to AshEmery’s POVThe evening has only just begun. Everyone has been moved to the Great hall after the presentation on the balcony.Where I saw…him."Behold Princess Emery of the Sovereign Crescent," Valerius’s voice booms through the sound system, bouncing off the polished pillars and archways of the Great Hall. "My legally adopted daughter, my official heir, and the future Lycan Queen."The massive reception hall, crowded with hundreds of Alphas, pack delegates, and high-ranking military commanders, instantly erupts into a collection of surprised murmurs. Shock passes over the room. Guards shift uncomfortably in their dark uniforms, I can see diplomats whisper behind their hands, and eyes lock onto me with a mixture of disbelief and some stare at me with curiosity. My posture is firm, my chin raised high, and I make sure my expression is vacant. The heavy, liquid-silver fabric of my dress catches the dim recessed lighting as I descend the marble dais beside Valerius
