FORTY NINE
HUNTER’s POV
All is quiet in the car as Helios drives south on the coastal highway. Conner and a few others trail us from behind in another car.
Clyde…if that son of a bitch dares to even touch a strand of Elena's hair, I swear I'll tear him into pieces. But deep down I know it will not be that easy to take him down.
He did not become the Alpha of the Blood Stone pack for no reason. I have to admit, the man is a formidable enemy, even at his lowest, he has still managed to elude his capture.
We slow down as we reach the winding road that will eventually lead us to the foot of Light Paw, but there’s been an accident. The road is jammed.
I signal for Helios to pull to a stop and he does. He opens the car door and gets out of the car while I remain in the backseat, my fingers tapping at my phone. I’ve tried calling Elena more than ten times but each time, I can only get her voicemail.

ELENA’s POV I am dressed in scrubs and brought into the operation theatre. Hunter lays in the middle of the room, and I hear the horrific beeping of the heart rate monitor. ELENA’s POVI open my eyes to the soft rhythmic beeping of a heart monitor and am greeted by a magnificent dark blue skyline outside a rectangular window.
