Mag-log inEDDY
I had intentionally not told Lola about the menu for tonight.
For some reason, I felt like she would pull up another drama and draw everyone's attention to herself in a desperate bid to escape her fate.
I made sure her outfit was taunting enough, and didn't bother to listen to her excuses for a change.
As she sat there, on the other side of the stage, looking lost like a wet duck, my mind tingled with the excitement of what was about to unfold.
I had my eyes on her up until I had to look away, and by the time my eyes returned to where she was supposed to be still sat, she was gone.
For a second, the fear of missing out on the most fun that could ever come out of tonight's show rippled through my body.
My first instinct was to call Connor, but that motherf*cker was still in my books as yet to be taught a lesson.
I didn't want to give him a heads up especially if it was just that Lola took a rest room walk.
I decided to sit in my seat, and wait for the events of the evening to slowly unfold.
Soon after, my phone began to vibrate endlessly in my breast pocket.
Maintaining a calm smile, I pulled it out, my brain working for an answer as to why Connor was calling me just when the night was about to start.
My impatience piqued, but instead, I tucked the phone back into my pocket, adjusting in my seat to watch the night.
The stage remained busy with a lot of interesting performances, but Lola's empty chair had my most attention.
I drew in a huge sigh of relief when I saw her finally walk in, her eyes flickering with an uncertainty that could only be as a result of one thing — she already knew what the night would look like.
Of course, because I caught Connor walking in too, barely a minute after she did.
"Mr. Langford, you still admire your wife like that years after your marriage?"
I turned to face Honorable Timmy, the oldest shareholder yet in my father's company.
I was disgusted by what he had just said, but I tried to not let it show.
The old man was talkative, and indulging him was getting yourself signed up for a long session.
So, I just smiled, pulling my gaze away, hoping he gets the message.
"Tell me more about it," he insisted, leaning closer to me.
"I like to keep my family on the far end of work," I replied, gleaming widely into his face.
That did it, because he groaned mildly, pulling away to adjust well into his seat .
I watched as the guests, especially the females cheered loudly to the start of the main event.
Slowly, my gaze shifted to Lola. She looked uneasy. I watched how she tugged repeatedly at the band of the bright pink hermaphrodite pants I made her wear against a bra top of the same rubber material — she looked pathetic.
A smile formed on my lips. I couldn't wait.
The cheering increased as the center of the stage opened up and the pole set-up emerged slowly until it was properly set for performance.
"This is going to be fun," I heard someone say from beside me, but I didn't pay much attention.
A brief introduction followed, the name of the only participant for the night's show called out with a taunting disrespect.
It was almost like being called out to embrace embarrassment.
I knew very much what the guests expected — a hired professional pole dancer — they were obviously disappointed when my wife's name was called as the entertainer for the section.
The cheering died down, replaced by inaudible murmuring. People shifted in their seats and their expressions gave away their displeasure.
I sat back tight. This was going to be a great show.
Lola, on the other hand, had frozen as soon as she heard her name, her eyes locked on where I sat the entire time.
When I finally got the chance to look at her, her gaze was heavy, pleading to be saved from the ridicule that awaited her even knowing I could never go back on my decision.
I maintained a stern expression, which always worked, because she finally stood up, and began to walk up the stage slowly, her body stiff with fear.
The murmuring among the guests died down as soon as she was up there.
Even I could feel the pressure that rested on her shoulders at that moment.
She had to do it or ruin the night, and she wouldn't dare pick the latter.
I watched her as she attempted to climb the pole, the material of her pants stretching weirdly. Another murmuring rippled through the crowd.
I adjusted in my seat, balancing my jaw against my knuckles.
Lola was shaking after the first failed attempt.
I shook my head.
"Such a fool. Of course, that pole won't hold your useless weight," I muttered, continuing to watch her as she made a complete fool of herself in front of the company's past and present staff and their families.
"Did your wife really ask to do this?" Honorable Timmy came again, his eyes focused on the stage with every concern.
"She wouldn't be there if she didn't want to," I replied without looking at him either.
He glanced briefly at me with disbelief.
"It does look like she is regretting her decision. I bet she is sweating down her butt now," he replied.
I chuckled, shifting away from where he was leaning over.
The audience had gone wild again, but this time, it was more of ridicule than excitement.
Laughter rolled out of every corner and judging fingers pointed across the stage.
I watched Lola's face slowly harden, her eyes focused on the slim pole she had already failed three times to hold her weight up on.
"Such a fool," I murmured.
Honorable Timmy glanced at me.
"She is going to try again," someone cooed from the audience, and the rest jeered loudly, laughing their hearts out.
I nodded at the fall that awaited Lola as I watched her position her hands firmly around the part of the pole above her head.
Slowly, with a strange confidence that silenced the guests, she walked up close to the pole, clamping the base between her thighs.
My lips parted slightly.
She was just about to swing her body up when a long loud roar bounced off the audience, some of them even stood up to the cause of the reaction.
Apparently, something had happened.
I was still trying to figure out the situation up the stage when my phone began to vibrate again.
Connor.
GREGORYThe city stretched out in front of me as I gazed out of the window, the after taste of the white wine still lingering somewhere down my throat. My fingers stiffened against the glass wedged between them, still half filled. The loud thoughts I had carried carefully since the first day weighed in my chest.I grunted, clearing my throat loudly.I couldn't hold it down, but I couldn't even move forward with everything happening in my family at the moment.I knew I needed to be careful. There was the company, and the future of my sons.I knew it wasn't going to be easy. Maybe, Lola was a distraction that shouldn't even cross my mind, but I couldn't help it. Sighing, I clasped my fingers tighter around the glass, glaring hard at the landscape of the city. Lola's room was right next to mine, but what good does that even do me if I can't call her over.It just kept getting harder for me to sleep, especially with knowing she was inside, probably taking a bath or sprawled out n*ked on
FREDDYThrough practice, I couldn't stop thinking about Lola. Maybe because I knew she was watching me like old times, and it sparked feelings that ought to have stayed buried until forever.Through the banter between her, my father and Eddy, I couldn't care less. I just stayed at the parts of her body that weren't concealed under the jacket draped across her shoulders. As soon as I got the opportunity to ask, I took it, and of course, Lola couldn't say No to me.It was a little hard convincing my coach to allow me to stay outside the team house. By the time I had concluded with the boys, checked into a hotel room, got a shave and freshened up, time was far spent. As I scurried into the elevator for the fifth floor, I wondered if she was waiting up for me or perhaps, given up and gone to bed.But then, Eddy was there. I didn't expect him to be. I didn't turn back though. I hadn't made all of those arrangements to chicken out of his presence."You shouldn't have said that, Freddy. What
LOLAAnother knock broke out against my door — sharp, impatient. My breathing seized for a second."Freddy!" I muttered, clutching tight at the material initially hanging between my fingers. My eyes were watery from my own arousal, and I couldn't wait to finally be able to feel the emotions that remained unlocked in my heart. My cheeks burnt red. I was so embarrassed that I packed up the box and shoved them under the sheets.Adjusting the belt of my bath robe, I did a short breathing exercise to keep my voice firm.Clutching the knob of the door, I took one last deep breath before yanking it open.I gagged, my chest tightening to the sight in front of me. Not only did I not expect to see Eddy in front of my door by the time of the night, I was too fired up to handle whatever he had come to say.It was ridiculous, but I wondered if he was here because of what I said to him at the stadium, and I feared we might end up doing something we both would regret by morning."Hi, Eddy," my voice
LOLAWith my heart hammering hard against my chest, I hurried through the lonely path that led back to the stadium where the rest of the family ought to still be.I was sure practice had ended, and me missing right in that moment wouldn't look too good. The plan was to get there first, and then, Connor could come later.Standing before my father-in-law, all sweaty, my breathing giving away the fact that I had jogged all the way back, I thought of the best response to a question he had not even asked."We had been done for a while now. We were worried," Greg spoke, his eyes scanning every inch of my body in a way that felt rather uncomfortable.Struggling to keep my breathing steady and my shoulders up, I looked from my father-in-law to Eddy — his face was locked in an expression that told me just how much he wanted to say and how he was just waiting for the right time to come at me.Freddy was standing behind them, arms folded across his chest, skin glazed with sweat and his gaze send
CONNORI wasn't a hockey person. I loved playing and watching outdoor games, but not hockey. Any other thing can work, not just hockey. Nevertheless, I had travelled to Norway with the Langfords to support Eddy's younger brother's game which was upon request by the director. He had texted me about it, and because Lola was going too, I knew I had to be there.Eddy might be right. I was there because of his wife, but there was a continuation of that truth Eddy didn't bother to add.I was there because I wanted to make sure his wife was protected from him.Through the flight, I had noticed Lola's discomfort, but I didn't get the opportunity to ask her why even until we had to watch skating on the ice. When I became fed up pretending like I was enjoying the practice game, I excused myself and went in search of even greater fun."Miss what?" she asked, the tension in her voice breaking apart."Get here first," I urged, leaning against the closest wall to me."What did you say?" her voice
LOLAI was mostly to myself through the flight, my thoughts everywhere, and my body doing a good job staying calm despite the storm that brewed underneath my skin.It was a long journey. When we touched down at the Norway airport, I was too tired to even think straight, and I felt too sleepy. I couldn't wait to be ushered into our rooms, then take a long hot shower and hide under the blankets, away from the reality I could never actually ever run from. Then, my father in law's words delivered like a blow to my face, "We will watch his practice tonight.""What the heck!" Eddy blurted out, his voice rising above his usual beat."You heard me, Eddy," Mr. Greg shot at him, looking around to make sure nobody had any other objection.Eddy was obviously not comfortable with the plan. He sighed, tugging at his tie uncomfortably as he paced around the space in front of him.Connor, on the other hand, stood at a distance with his hands folded, and his face holding a solid neutral expression.I
LOLAI swallowed, closing my eyes to the pain of the moment suddenly ending because of the same thing I had feared.I was back in my room - the room I shared with Eddy, and I was sitting n*ked on the toilet seat, my face pressed hard against my palms when I remembered that I had forgotten my flops
LOLAMy feet hurried across the corridor, past the first room, then the second, and I was standing in front of Eddy's room.My heart was beating faster than it was while I waited for my fate at the breakfast table a while back. Not because I wanted my brother-in-law to touch me again under my husb
LOLAI had been sitting at the table for over fifteen minutes. Alone. The dining room was the kind of large that feels larger when you are the only person in it. I sat at my usual spot - the chair closest to the window that nobody else wanted because the morning light came in at an angle that made
FREDDY"Fredmon!" I heard a voice call out from a distance not very far from the bathroom door.My body moved before my brain thought - I grabbed the towel off its hanger with one hand, the other working hard to secure the material around my waist, the whole operation executed with the graceless ur
