SELIORA POV

Rex was dead and Zack had escaped.

All in one night. All that I could get the answers I so desperately wanted were gone.

Kaelion was crashing out and instructing all the guards to make sure to find Zack and bring him back to the pack while I just stared at him in silence.

After getting tired of listening to Kaelion instruct his guards, I walked out of the hospital and went into my room.

I then locked the door and walked over the window. I opened it up and smiled at the moon which was now at its peak.

Changing into my wolf form was the only way I could release the tension of the night.

I soon felt my claws emerging and my senses heightened, just seconds later, I had turned.

I let out a howl then launched myself out of the window. I then ran out of the pack gate which was open and began to run through the woods.

Full moons were always my favourite.

I made sure to avoid the obsidian pack members and stay as far away from them as possible.

They were a pack while I was a lone wolf.

Seeing them running together reminded me of one thing though, my pack. I was never going to run with them like we used to.

After a while of running, I sensed one of the obsidian pack wolves running behind me.

Feeling a spark or recognition, I turned to see who it was.

It was Kaelion, my fated mate.

I could tell from his glowing green eyes and the way his gaze looked into mine.

He slowly made his way towards me and we continued to walk the woods together under the moonlight.

As the full moon receded, my body transformed back into my human form.

“Why weren’t you with your pack? You are their Alpha, you are meant to be protecting them,” I asked standing across from Kaelion who had also transformed.

“You were alone, I promised to protect you,” He answered, walking further away from me. “We keep clothes at the hut two minutes away from here for when we turn back into our human form, come with me.”

I had no idea where I was or where the pack house was even located. The best thing I could do was follow him.

“Hurry up, it’s going to get cold real soon,” Kaelion stated.

“Okay,” I answered, following right behind him.

After about two minutes of waking, Kaelion and I walked into the hut which was right in front of a small river.

“You can pick anyone you want,” He said, pointing towards the small wooden hanger in the room which contained some clothes and shoes.

He then started to change while I picked up a black mid-length gown and put it on.

“Where is the rest of your pack?” I asked, peeping out of the window. “Shouldn’t they be here to change before returning to the pack house?”

“I guess they all returned back to the pack instead of coming here to change,” He replied, putting on a black shirt. “We should go back to the house.”

I nodded my head in agreement and moved towards the door, I then opened it up but rain began to pour before I could step out.

“Fuck!” Kaelion exclaimed, his eyes scanning around. “We are stuck here for the night.”

“Why?” I asked. “We can just run back to the pack house, can’t we?”

“It’s twenty minutes away,” He answered. “We stay here and wait till the rain stops then we can leave.”

“Okay,” I muttered going back into the house while watching him lock the door.

Afterwards, he walked over to the small chair in the room and handed me a large blanket.

“Cover up, it gets really cold here at night,” He said.

I could tell he was not okay. Rex betraying him must have gotten to him.

“About Rex,” I said.

“I do not want to talk about him, he’s dead. He’s gone!” He cut in. “You should get to sleep, we have to figure out what this conspiracy is all about tomorrow, and you need all the strength you can get.”

I nodded my head in agreement and lay down on the bed. After a while, I looked towards Kaelion and realised he didn’t have a blanket and was trembling.

“Are you okay?” I asked, standing up and walking towards him.

“The kysnite stone rendered me weak, it would take at least a while before I got my full strength back,” He answered. “Go to sleep.”

“We can share the blanket, it’s big enough,” I muttered, helping him up.

I could not just go back to sleep and leave to freeze all night.

We both walked towards the bed slowly and after he lay down, I lit up the fireplace and walked back over to the bed.

I then lay down beside him and covered myself with the rest of the blanket.

“Rex was one of my most trusted men, he was the last person I expected would ever betray me. The way he looked at me with so much hatred, it broke me,” He whispered.

“He was hungry for power, he was jealous of you. This is none of your fault,” I stated, turning sideways at him.

“You saved the day again,” He muttered. “I would have never been able to catch Rex if it were not for you, Seliora.”

“I just want to know where my father stands in all this,” I said.

For some reason, I felt comfortable talking to Kaelion.

Maybe it was because of what had happened or how he was the only person I could talk to.

“We will find out together,” He stated.

“How?” I asked. “We are never going to be able to find Zack and Rex is dead. We have nothing.”

Kaelion who has been staring up at the ceiling turned sideways and looked me in the eye. “Your father isn't going to die.”

KAELION POVRex was getting away.“I will be back, Kaelion. I will come to take what is mine,” He stated, swinging the door wide open while I continued to run towards the gate.“Damn it!” I muttered as he ran out.I then reached the gate but heard a loud thud before I could go after him.“Rex,” I called out, looking out of the gate.If Rex was right about this being a bigger conspiracy that Alpha Thane was a part of, it only meant I had a huge problem. The one who orchestrated the plan to attack my pack was still out there.“Found him,” I heard, Jackson say walking into the house while dragging Rex by the legs. “I also knew the one who attacked Zack would try to finish him off.”I had never been happier to see Jackson.“Shut the gate,” I muttered, staring at the guards.Tonight was a full moon which meant I only had about two hours to get Rex to talk before transforming into my wolf form.Rex would also be transforming. He would be much stronger than he is now.“You will have to kill

SELIORA POV“Someone is here,” I whispered into Kaelion’s ear before slowly peeping into the hospital room.It was Rex.He was in the hospital room to finish what he started just like I had predicted.I could feel Kaelion’s heartbeat race as he leaned towards me and watched Rex make his way slowly towards Zack who was lying unconscious on the hospital bed.I could also feel his anger rising but this was not the time to act. I needed to see if there was anything Rex could do that which give me some clues about why he was doing this.“Stop!” Kaelion growled, rushing out of where we hid as Rex pulled a knife out of his shirt. He immediately gripped Rex’s hand while I watched the scene quietly.“I trusted you, Rex. Why would you betray the pack like this?” Kaelion asked, his voice a bit calmer this time.Rex didn’t look remorseful about what he had done. He only continued to struggle to release the knife in his hands.“Why!” Kaelion barked, finally taking the knife from him and swinging i

SELIORA POVI was completely sure of this. After Jackson had earlier announced Zack had been attacked, I was certain it must have been one of the guards.Back at my pack, there was a way I was able to determine whether a person was telling the truth or lying by listening to the sound of their heartbeats.I did the same to the guards as Jackson interrogated them about the incident. They all had slow and steady heartbeats which told me all I needed to know, they were speaking the truth. This then made me conclude the traitor was a person of a higher rank in the pack. This narrowed my options and left me with two options. Jackson and the head of the pack of soldiers, Rex.Asking Kaelion to call out all of the pack members was a way for me to search Rex’s room. The search was difficult, I had to unlock his room and hurry because he could be back in any minute. For the first two minutes, I kept searching but found nothing that could prove him guilty. Afterwards, I tried to make my way out.

KAELION POVI had nothing to do with what happened to Alpha Thane and since I would really love to explain to Seliora, I had bigger things to worry about.Jackson looked really worried.“The prisoner from the blood moon pack was attacked and almost killed in his cell,” Jackson stated. “I think this might be the same person who attacked Lexi.”“What!” I exclaimed, angrily.Enough was enough.Today was the day I was going to find whoever was doing this. The traitor in the pack had to die today.“How is he?” I asked, storming out of the office angrily with Jackson. “How did the person who did this pass through the guards without being caught?”“He is in the pack hospital. All the guards on duty have been tied down. They all claimed not to know what happened,” Jackson answered. “Whoever did this is not an ordinary pack member, he is someone who nobody would have suspected,” Seliora spoke behind me.“Gather all the pack members, Jackson,” I demanded, as we walked out of the house.Zack co

SELIORA POV“Seliora,” I heard, Kaelion call out to me while my head continued to spin. “Take deep breaths.”“I..do..not..think.. I..can,” I stuttered, running my hands through my hair.I was having an anxiety attack. The last time I had one was when my sister died years ago.“You are all right,” Kaelion said pulling me into a tight embrace while I just remained there. After a few minutes, I managed to calm down.“You good now?” He asked, breaking the hug.“Yes,” I replied, walking over to the phone which was still on the table.“Why..Father?” I asked, as my hands trembled. He has broken my trust in him. Not only that, I wondered if he was ever going to tell me the truth that Kaelion didn't threaten to kill me.He lied without hesitation.“Forgive me, Seliora. I will make sure to come get you,” He replied.“I said Why?” I yelled, picking up the phone. “You did this to our pack, you ruined everything. I defended you with all I had in me.”“It’s complicated, Seliora. I had to do it bec
