Chapter 1 Let's Get Married

Chapter 1

"Miss Walker, I don't have too many requirements for my girlfriend. All you have to do after we're married is to quit your job and be a full-time housewife. My work is tiring, you need to know how to take good care of me. You will also have to make me proud when we're out as well. I earn quite a lot a month. My monthly salary is 1600 dollars. I'll give you 200 dollars a month for your living expenses. It's quite a lot, but I don't want to waste any of it."

Laura Walker was sitting on the other side of the dining table drinking tea. The person who was speaking was her blind date for today.

"I'm quite satisfied with you, Miss Walker. What do you think of me?" The man looked at Laura's delicate face with perverted eyes. He had a confident look on his face.

He reached out his hands in an attempt to hold Laura's hands which were on the table, but Laura quickly withdrew her hands when she saw what the man was trying to do.

Laura smiled at him, picked up the cup on the table and then poured the tea at the man.

"I'm sorry, but I'm not satisfied with you."

The man had been looking at her with the same perverted look ever since she arrived. He had also been trying to touch her multiple times as well. Laura couldn't stand it anymore.

She stood up and then picked up her bag.

When the man saw what Laura was doing, he quickly shouted, "You've ordered all this food. I've only ordered the tea. You can pay for all of this!"

The food was ordered by Laura, but she didn't even take a bite. All she did was drink some tea. Instead, the man ate most of the food.

Laura didn't want to argue with such a person. She paid for the food and turned on her heels to leave.

If it weren't for the fact that her grandmother was seriously ill and wanted to see her get married, instead of being sold by her mother to a random person for a high bride price, Laura wouldn't have gone on blind dates.

Laura sighed and was about to walk out of the restaurant, but that was when she heard her phone rang.

She picked her phone up to take a look. That was when she saw a stranger had sent her a private message.

"Want to get married?"

Half an hour later, Laura appeared in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau whilst nervously fiddling with her clothes.

The person who had sent her the message had a pure black display picture. The man told her that he needed someone to marry and that there would be a contract. The two of them would be divorced a year later.

According to the file of the man, he was 30 years old and worked for a small company.

Laura didn't have high requirements. She was 25 years old. The man was five years older than her and that was something she could accept.

As long as the man wasn't too weird, Laura was able to accept anything to make her grandmother not worry about her. The marriage would only be for a year anyway.

Laura had thought that the man would be average-looking. Otherwise, he wouldn't still be single at the age of 30. That was why she didn't even care when Chris Jacobs stood in front of her.

"You're Laura Walker?" asked Chris.

His voice was deep, his facial features were perfect and his dark eyes were sizing Laura up and down.

Laura couldn't tell how much the black suit he was wearing would cost, but she felt that the man looked great.

Chris raised his hand and looked at the watch on his wrist. "I'm in a hurry. We've got 10 minutes."

Only then did Laura come back to her senses and realize that this man was the man she was going to marry. She quickly nodded. "Oh, okay."

When they walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Laura looked down at the marriage certificate in her hands. Both of them had blank faces in both photos. They didn't look like they were getting married at all.

However, that didn't matter. With the marriage certificate, Laura felt that her grandmother wouldn't be so worried about her anymore.

"This is my number. Don't call me if there isn't anything important." Chris gave Laura his phone number and left without turning back.

It was a good thing that Laura had a good memory. She was able to remember the phone number after hearing it only once.

Chris got into a car that looked normal on the outside, but was actually luxurious on the inside.

He looked at the marriage certificate in his hand, took a photo and sent it to someone.

"This is what you wanted."
