The same night Roselie took the fertility seeds she had spent months searching for was the same night her husband’s adopted brother came back from prison. For seven years, Roselie had been married to Harrison without giving him the child he desperately wanted. She had endured countless treatments, humiliation, and cruel accusations, but she refused to give up on her marriage. She believed that if she could finally give Harrison a child, she could save their marriage. After months of searching, she finally found a rare fertility drug and took it on their seventh wedding anniversary, hoping that night would be the beginning of everything she had prayed for. Instead, Harrison came home with his lover. He did not care about their anniversary or the woman who had spent seven years standing by him. He dismissed Roselie and made it clear that their marriage was over. Heartbroken, Roselie never expected another man to enter her room that night. A man she believed was Harrison. A man she thought had finally come back to her. She had no idea that the man holding her that night was Sebastian. Harrison’s adopted brother. The real son of the family. The rightful heir.

Chapter One

Rosalie’s POV

It had been seven years, seven long years since I got married without having a child, but finally, I believed everything would end today because after years of searching and trying every treatment the doctors recommended, the doctor had finally managed to get the fertility drug I had been waiting for.

I still couldn’t believe I had it.

I held the small package in my hand and smiled as I looked at it, feeling a kind of happiness I had almost forgotten how to feel.

After today, maybe people would finally stop calling me barren.

The sound of a car stopping outside suddenly made my heart jump.

Victor, my husband was home.

I quickly took the drug exactly as the doctor had instructed and swallowed it with a glass of water, knowing it would take some time before it started working.

Then I hurried back to the dining room and adjusted everything one more time.

The candles were burning around the table, the cake was sitting proudly in the middle, and his favorite food was still warm.

I looked around and smiled, everything  was perfect.

Tonight was our seventh wedding anniversary, and I had spent days making sure everything would be special.

Maybe tonight, I could make Harrisonremember the man he used to be.

Maybe tonight, he would look at me the way he had when we first got married.

I heard the front door open.

My heart fluttered.

I quickly straightened my dress and hurried toward the entrance. “Happy seventh annive—”

The words died in my mouth. Harrisonhad entered, but he wasn’t alonx Vivianne was walking beside him.

I stopped in shock. Even on our seventh wedding anniversary, he had still come home with his lover.

My eyes moved from Harrisonto the woman holding his arm.

She looked completely comfortable, as though she belonged in this house more than I did.

Harrisonbarely looked at me as he removed his jacket.

I forced myself to smile even though my chest already felt painfully tight. “Happy anniversary, honey.”

He finally looked at me, there  was no warmth in his eyes. “Really?”

My smile slowly disappeared. “What?”

“What anniversary are you celebrating?”

I swallowed. “Our seventh anniversary.”

He gave a bitter laugh. “How I wish a child had come to greet me after all these years.”

My heart broke. “Victor…”

“I’m tired, Rosalie.” He reached into his jacket and pulled out an envelope. “That’s enough.”

He placed it in my hand.

I stared at it, confused. “What is this?”

“Open it.”

My fingers trembled as I opened the envelope.

The moment I saw the papers inside, my entire body went cold, divorce  papers.

I looked up at him. “No.”

My voice came out as a whisper. “No, honey. You can’t divorce me.”

Victor’s expression didn’t change. “I can, and I will.”

“Please.” I moved closer to him. “Not today. Please, not today.”

“You’ve had seven years.”

“I know.”

“Seven years, Rosalie, and you still haven’t given me a child.”

“I have tried.”

“Not enough.”

Tears filled my eyes. “Please, just give me one more chance.”

Vivianne finally spoke. “Suit yourself, girl.”

I turned toward her.

She smiled before looking me up and down. “Pack your clothes tomorrow and leave this house.”

I stared at her in disbelief. “This is my home.”

She laughed softly. “Not anymore.”

Harrisondidn’t correct her, he  simply turned toward her, pulled her closer, and kissed her.

My heart shattered.

Then they started walking away together.

“Victor!”

I stumbled after them.m“Please, don’t leave me like this.”

He didn’t stop.m“Victor, please!”

The door closed behind them.

I stood there, staring at the empty space where they had been. “No.” My voice shook. “No, no, no.”

I looked down at the divorce papers still clutched in my hand.

This couldn’t be happening,  not   tonight, not after everything I had prepared.

My eyes moved toward the dining room, the candles were still burning, the cake was still sitting untouched, his favorite food was still waiting for him.

Everything I had prepared with so much hope suddenly looked meaningless.

Then the room began to blur.

I blinked, once, twice  but my vision only became worse. “What is happening?”

I reached for the table and held onto it as my breathing grew heavier.

A strange wave of heat suddenly moved through my body.

Then I remembered, the  drug.

My eyes widened. “No.”

I had completely forgotten about it, the doctor had told me to take it shortly before intimacy because it would begin working quickly and  I had taken it just before Harrisonarrived.

Another wave of heat rushed through me, stronger than the first.

I pressed a hand against my forehead. “No, no, no.”

This couldn’t be happening now, not after Harrisonhad just left me, not when I was alone.

My vision became even more blurred, and my legs began to feel weak beneath me.

I tried to move toward the stairs, but I barely made it two steps before I heard footsteps coming from the hallway.

Someone was coming. I slowly turned toward the sound.

Then I heard footsteps.

Someone was coming, turned toward the sound, a man appeared at the end of the hallway, but I could barely see his face.

My heart began beating faster.  “Honey?”

The man stopped,  I took a shaky step toward him.

My vision was failing me, my body was burning, and I could no longer think clearly but I knew one thing,  I needed him.  I reached out my hand. “Thank you for coming back…”

He did not answer immediately.

I moved closer until I was standing in front of him, then reached up and touched his face, his  skin felt strangely smooth beneath my fingers.

For a brief moment, I frowned.

Harrisonhad a small scar above his left eyebrow.

My fingers moved toward that part of his face, but there was nothing there.

Maybe I was mistaken, maybe  it was the way my vision was failing me.

At that moment, I did not care, all  wanted was for him to stay.

I looked into his eyes, barely able to think clearly. “Please…”

His expression changed. “No… this is not…”

I stepped closer before he could finish. “Please, just tonight.”

He stared at me. I did not wait for him to say anything else.

I reached up, pulled him closer, and kissed him.

For a moment, he remained completely still.

Then his arms went around me. “You don’t know what you are asking for ,” he murmured.

Before I could understand what he meant, he lifted me into his arms and carried me away from the hallway.
