FIRE, FIRE, FIRE
Finally, the day has arrived, a lacrosse match. Everyone is eager to watch it. The playground is safe for the players. Lowe’s family arrived at the ground and searched for a place to sit and watch their brother. Lacrosse means the world to Caleb.
“Char-lotte,” Jason called Charlotte, spotting her standing alone.
“Coming,” she winked at him. Before they started to talk, Scott interrupted them unknowingly.
“Do you want to join us?” Charlotte offered. With a nod, he sat next to her. Jason glared at him in frustration. He thought he could spend some more time with her.
“Oh no,” Scott gasped all of a sudden.
“What’s wrong” Jason spoke to him for the first time.
“Did you mind if I support Raven’s team?” Scott asked, in hesitation.
“Seriously, man, I won’t be accepting it if you aren’t my friend. But you are, so be it.” Charlotte responded to him. She doesn’t ask about who’s he going to cheer?
“I heard you have many exam papers to prepare? Did you finish it?”
“Nope. I will do it after the match,” after some minutes care passed around everyone giving juice to drink and watch the match.
“I need one.” Scott raised his hand and gave that juice to charlotte.
“Don’t you need it,”
“No,” he simply said, seeing Jason glaring at him. Scott understood he is disturbing them and stayed silent the remaining time.
“I need to learn violin,” Jason asked her, even though he knows he’s not interested in it.
“Yeah, for sure. Then you need to teach me swimming,” Charlotte asked him even though she hated being submerged in water.
“I will do only if we are alone in the whole pool” she raised an eyebrow at him.
While on the other side, Chloe is waiting for Ruby with Ian and Taylor. Ruby rushed to them, climbing the stairs in a fairy dress with wide-opened wings, smiling broadly at them.
“Oh, my gosh. What’s this costume?” Chloe asked in shock. Ruby looking stunning. Chloe herself can’t resist staring at her friend.
“It represents the wings team. Huge support to them.” she twirls around in her blur-fairy dress. She looks like a young girl who escaped from a fairy tale story.
“Caleb will faint if he sees you in this dress.” Chloe teased her, taking a seat in the front row.
“I already saw him.” She blushed, read, and looked down.
“Then I think you two already got room to make out,” Ian intruded.
“We didn’t, Ian” she got embarrassed. They stopped asking her question once the game started. But Ruby was a little bit distracted and thought about how Caleb reacted to her dress.
......
Caleb was about to put his helmet on in a shed near the playground when Ruby emerged from behind and touched his shoulder.
“Here you are. You are...” he lost in words.
“You should play well and win this game.” she encouraged him. Without a reply, he took some steps forward and kissed her passionately. One hand on her wrist and the other on her hair. Somehow, the wings seem disturbing for them to touch each other. Soon, both are breathless.
“So, I should leave now or you will be distracted,” she said, twirling the little bit of her red hair with her fingers.
“Iam already got distracted.” he leaned to kiss her again.
“Stop, you will spoil my dress.” She laughed and took some steps backwards. Instantly, Caleb sat at the nearby table and ordered her to sit on his lap. They both are so close, staring at each other’s eyes. He brushed her hair aside and kissed her neck, collarbone. Ruby moaned low and didn’t tell him to stop. They kept on kissing until they both heard footsteps approaching the shed.
“I should go. All the best. You are going to rock it” she gave him a quick kiss and left him speechless.
Back at the current moment, Ruby concentrated on the match without letting any thoughts get into her. Everyone was silent. Raven and Wings team are getting equal in scores. It feels like the game is going on for an eternity. But nobody expected the game will be stopped?
It all happened in a flash of seconds. The crack in the ground appeared once again even after the tunnels been closed. The crack lined up till the end of the playground. All of a sudden, a house next to the ground falls apart. It's a work in process house for two months. The front side of the house haven't built yet. There’s a gasp around all the people who are watching them. The house crumbled to the ground, hitting many players, including Caleb. It fell right at the same place it happened a week ago. Many players got covered by the crumbled building. Thank God, it's not a completely build house or else everyone would have crushed themselves to death. Within a blink of an eye, the house caught up in the fire. It’s started burning. The principal called the ambulance and the fire engine. Nobody knows how to save them all. Everyone came to the rescue. Soon the whole place, trees burned. Most of them are trying to extinguish the fire. Stopping the fire and rescuing the players at the same time is a tough job.
"This isn’t happening." Ruby ran to the ground and straight into the burning house with no one noticing her gone missing.
“Ruby's gone. We should go and save Caleb and her.” Chloe shouted from her throat once she realized Ruby’s not there with them. Everyone knows Ruby will do anything for Caleb. Caroline, Charlotte, Chloe, everyone’s other friends reunited. They will do anything for their brother, but Ruby is so far ready to sacrifice her life for Caleb.
“Students, please don’t go inside,” Scott ordered everyone standing in front of the house.
“We should go inside. My brother is still there. It’s not even one week discharging him from the hospital,” Charlotte shouted angrily.
“It’s not safe to go there. They will save him. Believe it. Believe me.” Jason hugged and assured her. Her eyes are black by the spread of her make-up from sobbing. She hugged him tighter, hoping they would save him.
The cracks are getting wider while the house is burning brighter. Some of the rescuers went inside the house and saved some players. But all are in a crucial stage. They are burn marks all around their body. Fortunately, their head is protected by the helmet. But their body is burned so much it hurts like hell.
“There’s no sign of Caleb,” Chloe sobbed, falling to the ground.
“And also, Ruby. She has gone inside too,” Taylor anxiously said.
“Iam going to help,” said Bill to care. Before she can respond, he charged towards the house with the other rescuers. Mostly all the things are burnt in the house. Suddenly something fells next to Bill’s feet, he panicked to see what or who's lying in front of him.
SHE’S DEAD Bill slowly looked down to see a boy lying. His leg is injured, blood flows from his leg continuously. “Help me,” he struggled to speak. Bill helped him to stand up. It seems like they will all go to die in the fire. The boy leaned on Bill’s shoulder and they made their way out of the destruction. Caleb is suffering inside the fire can’t able to find his way out of the burning house. He felt like this was the end of his life. When he was distracted in fear, the bricks above him were about to fall on him. Suddenly, someone pushed him down and saved him from death right on time. “Ruby,” Caleb talked in shock. “Let’s get out of here,” she urged, and stood on her feet. Then she looked at his arms, which were bleeding. “Why did you come here?” he asked her with pain in his body, struggling to get on his knees. “For who do you think? Iam here for you,” she replied in a panicked voice. They both stepped together, h
CONFRONTED HER The same day, they discharged Caleb. He didn’t talk with their sisters, no further questions about what happened when he left? If he showed his emotions to his sisters, they would have helped him feel better. But he kept everything inside him, dying inside. Care went silently to her room and took her diary. She only writes it when something happens that matters the most. Mostly it will be something happier or secrets or lies, but not death. 03 May, 11:30 pm, I never thought something so heart-breaking will happen. I still can’t believe it. Ruby is like one of us and she meant a world to Caleb. He will never be the same person, ever again. Ruby is Chloe’s BFF. She is a sensitive girl who can’t bear a small thing. Soon Ruby’s funeral will happen without her body. No one can find her body. All we can see is ashes. The worst death ever. It should never happen to anyone. Her sweet voice is still ringing in my ear. One thing that
WHO’S EXCITED ABOUT HOMECOMING? Chloe looked closer at the painting she drew a few days ago. She already drew the burning house which happened in real. It’s still hard to believe it. Is she physic? “Did you buy the dress?” Sara leaned closer near Chloe’s bench in drawing class. “What dress are you talking about?” Chloe asked, didn’t take her eyes off her painting. She is painting a princess. This time, her drawing is under her control. “Don’t you know that?” Sookie poked her nose in the middle of their conversation. “She doesn’t know that? Maybe she doesn’t have a date,” someone laughed over on the other side. Who will laugh like this except Becca’s friend? “Shut up, Tiffany. Don’t you dare intrude between us.” Sara warned her but Tiffany avoided and walked over to Chloe’s table? the teacher is distracted by a phone call. So, the class was so noisy except for some students who are drawing without getting distracted. “J
MEMORIES AND HEARTBREAKS Caleb is sitting on his couch having a photo of Ruby in his hands. There are no tears left to cry. He doesn’t want to go to school again. He paced back and forth in his room. Every memory of Ruby filled his mind. He still can’t forget the day he proposed to her. He can’t figure out why he’s so addicted to her. All he cares about is his passion and future. That’s why he never had any friends. He never cared about having a girlfriend until he met Ruby. Ruby is his obsession. ..... Caleb picked up Ruby from her home in his own car. The only car of Lowe’s family. “Where are you taking me?” Ruby happily asked him with her innocent smile. “You will see it soon.” they both locked hands and walked together into Caleb’s house. Somehow it feels like royalty. Caleb tied her eyes with a cloth and got her inside his house. At that time, they are just friends. Friends for more than four years. They bo
The girl slowly turned. “Taylor,” Ian breathed with a sigh of relief. What he said was true. Taylor has the same hair colour similar to Ruby. But she doesn’t look like Ruby. “What are you doing here?” Chloe asked. She can’t believe she has wrongly misunderstood the whole scenario. “What am I? I came here to shop for some dress for my brother and me.” Taylor explained and her brother came behind her looking perplexed by Chloe’s expression. “Sorry. It’s a misunderstanding. You can continue your work. We just came here to watch the movie,” Ian clarified. “Fine. Do you have anything to share? because Chloe looks so pale...” Taylor trailed off. “Nothing. I will take care of her” with that word Ian grabbed her arm and got out of the mall. “Trust me, Ian. I know how Ruby looks. It seems like our Ruby. What’s happening here?” Chloe still trying to prove it. “You need to calm down, Chloe. You still haven’t recovered from Ruby’s
A MESS New surroundings seem difficult for her. Deep inside her heart, she wants to join him. “You don’t want this. Nobody told me like this. You don’t need to work hard in your life. If you have any problems with your job, I will help you. Just be here for a while.” Her rejection hurts him. “But Daniel, Iam not feeling good these days after Ruby’s death and I don’t need help. I can able to manage my life with my current job,” she called his name for the first time. He seems a little happy hearing his name from her. “I understand you. Iam also having a difficult time due to a fake relationship. Won’t you help me?” “Um... I really want to. How about a hug?” she blurted. “Really! Iam okay with that,” ‘Oh no, why did I tell that?’ she thought to herself, stepping towards him awkwardly. She slowly hugs him. A shiver ran down her spine. In response, he wraps his arms around her. She felt so nervous and wants to step away bu
PASSED OUT Caleb punched his nose hard. Wes’s eyes watered. He was shocked by his sudden action. “How dare you?” Wes hissed, touching his bleeding nose. Tiffany stood beside Wes in surprise. Without warning, Wes punched Caleb in his stomach. He clutched his stomach in pain. Both sprang into action, fighting each other. All the students watched them but didn’t take a step to stop them. Tiffany motivated Wes to fight. Elliot’s trying to stop Caleb from fighting. “Professor Scott is coming. Stop fighting,” Bianca warned them, who they didn’t even hear her. She’s a Raven group cheerleader. She’s more concerned about Caleb because he got hurt in his life more than anyone. The footsteps got closer, and Scott entered the class, standing near the door. “What’s happening here? someone explain it,” He commanded. “I don’t know, sir. They are fighting. No one can stop them,” Bianca said in a panicked voice, staring at the p
WHAT A GREAT EMBARRASSMENT? “It’s me, Jason Lee. Don’t tell me you lost your memory?” He stepped towards her with a bowl of fried rice. “What’s this place?” Charlotte rubbed her eyes more than once. “It’s my home. You passed out. I took leave for both of us. Now how are you feeling?” He asked her with concern. “Somewhat okay. I haven’t eaten for a day.” “That’s why you need to eat,” Jason said, bringing a spoon full of rice to her mouth. “Are you going to feed me? Iam not a...” He fed her, stopping her from finishing speaking. “Hmm...it tastes good. I want more.” she licked her lips. Jason laughed and fed her until the bowl was empty. “You took leave for me. You may have any other works in a school.” “I have. Today we have swimming practise before the competition,” “Then why you take leave? You are the coach,” “I got it, dear. I appointed the best swimmer to take my place
