We thought you'd gone with Austin?" Willow asked.
“Nope, he's got basketball practice, they claim they have a match on Friday," she said approaching the girls.
“So are we still up for a sleepover today?" Willow asked. Raine had asked the girl's over at her house for a sleepover. She wanted to know them much better.
“Of course we are. But I need a ride home. My ride wouldn't be done with practice anytime soon and I don't want to ride with Nina and Natalie either." she begged.
“Sure we can drop you off, come on," Mila added as they headed off to the parking lot where her jeep was parked.
“I love your ride, whoever this is for." she chuckled.
“Thanks, it's mine, Willow drives us on Thursday and Friday," Mila explained.
“This is my stop, you guys meet me here tonight so I direct you home for the sleepover." Raine bid her friends goodbye as they drove off.
The junction where she alighted was just 10 seconds walk from her house.
“Maybe she wants to surprise us, that's why she didn't take us home, " Mila said.
“Probably." Willow shrugged as Mila parked in front of her house.
“Seems you girls have got company." Mila hinted as they got down from her jeep and headed inside.
“Aaliyah?" Willow called out.
“In here!" she sounded relieved as Willow followed her voice to the kitchen.
“Who's car is----
“Mom..." she said with a fake smile.
“And who is he?" she pointed to the man beside her.
“My boyfriend, Cole." Avery, Willow's mom answered.
“I'd be upstairs, welcome Ms Evans." Mila greeted drawing attention to her.
“No, you won't." Willow held her hand.
“Can I go up now? My friends are waiting." Aaliyah whined.
“ You girls stay and get to----
“No!" both Aaliyah and Willow said storming up to their rooms. Mila smiled sheepishly and followed suit.
“Well, I tried. They're just hot-headed spoiled brats." Avery complained.
“They'd come around Av, give it time." Cole
“She always tries to do this. We are comfortable with our lives the way it is. If she wants to get married she should go ahead with it and keep us out of it." Willow stroked the nape of her neck.
“ Calm down Willow, just relax. You don't have to decide now, give it some time if only she's willing to wait and really wants your consent." Mila advised.
“Thanks, Mila." Willow hugged her
“I know your mom and dad came around. I'm sorry they don't have time for you, I guess we're in the same boat." she chuckled.
“I guess we are." Mila sighed.
Aaliyah: There's Mcdonalds in the fridge for you and Mila, you guys microwave it.
Willow: Thanks, you're the best. And hey, everything would be alright, it's us against the world.
Aaliyah: Us against the world ?.
“Come on Mila, let's get some food to eat." Willow dragged her friend from the bed as they descended the stairs into the kitchen.
Avery and Cole were nowhere to be found when the girls got down.
“Typical Avery Evans," Willow murmured as she got the food from the fridge and put it in the microwave setting the timer to 5 minutes.
Mila got plates and two cans of raspberry juice from the fridge for her friend and herself.
We are at your junction Raine," Willow said through the phone."Just a minute, I'd be there soon," Raine answered, dropping the call. As usual, her parents had travelled out to only God knows where and they never bothered to let her know. She was alone living in that huge mansion with maids, butlers and guards. Her step-sisters were schooling in one of the best schools out of town. When she first met Austin, she was glad.
Happy that she was going to spend more time with him, and his friends. But as soon as she met his friends that hope died down. They were different from her and did things that she would never dream of doing.
She was happy when she met Mila and her friends, no one in this world is perfect but she instantly fell in love with them.
“Here I am," she said, knocking on Mila's car window. She unlocked the car for her to get in.
“Hey, you," Mila said as she directed them to her house. The electric gates opened allowing Mila to drive into the gorgeous compound. Her house was like mansions in movies.
The house was plastered with brown and grey stones. The girls got down as the maids got their stuff from Mila's trunk. The inside was more beautiful than the exterior decor of the house. The walls and floors were shining.
“Your house is beautiful." Willow found herself saying.
“Thank you," Raine answered. She had a separate room where she had kept for sleepovers one day, and that day was today. She had her maids clean the room and organise everything for their night.
“Would you girls want something to eat?" Raine asked.
“Yeah, we would...anything you've got," Mila said.
“Okay, I'd be back." she left the room to go to the kitchen.
“ Why do rich parents always do this? They think showering their kids with money and abandoning them makes them happy?" Mila found herself saying.
“Of course, after all, they've got all they need, what else? But they've forgotten we crave their attention, their love, care, support. All we want is for them to be there for us. Perhaps we can't get the full package." Willow sighed.
“Being a rich kid sucks, but average kids want to be like us. The world is unfair." Raine chipped in as she entered with one of her maids carrying a tray full of food. She set the food on the table before them and left.
“Bon appetit!" Raine added.
“Don't bon appetit us, you're joining us. No buts." Willow ordered. She looked at Mila for support.
“I love you Raine, but I am on this one with Willow. Come on, join us." she insisted as Raine got off the bed and joined them.
I love these girls. She smiled to herself.
EpilogueOne year along the line… Hayes stood by the door of Maryse 'room admiring how she had curled up beside his girlfriend in a peaceful sleep. They were currently in their final year of university. Remy and Raine were engaged to be married in a couple of weeks. Willow and Neo had welcomed their quadruplets , three girls and a boy. After Kaia's disappearance, he had not heard anything about her. She had not reached out to him about Maryse. Though he did not want her to, she should have made an effort just to prove that she cared. "How long have you been standing there?" Mila asked. He hadn't noticed she was awake and watching him. " Um, for a couple of minutes," his ears turned pink. Mila chuckled at him carefully getting out of bed in order not to wake Maryse up. Phebe and Niel were going strong. She was helping him manage the family business by interning there. She was happy for her friend with how things were falling in place for her. Mila had never imagined being w
" Someone is glowing!" Blair playfully nudged her friend as they walked to class." I always glow," she shrugged." This is different honey, trust me. I think something else is making you glow, or should I say, someone instead?" she asked making her friend blush as she recalled memories of their sexcapade a few days ago." You're blushing!"" No, I'm not Blair," she pouted as they burst into laughter entering their lecture hall.Phebe hadn't returned from Phoenix yet, she was returning tomorrow and she couldn't wait to hear all that her friend had to say. They had a whole lot to talk about and she couldn't wait. The excitement alone was killing her"Do you have to go?" Niel leaned by the door of his bedroom as he watched his girl pack for her flight." As much as I don't want to, babe you know I gotta go." she walked towards him pecking him at the corner of his lips." I know, but, like can't you switch schools or something?" he playfully asked in a cute voice." No, no babe. I can't,
" How's Phoenix baby girl?" Mila asked Phebe as soon as she answered the phone." It's beautiful, great actually," she answered grinning from ear to ear on the phone." Seems like someone is treating you nice, yes?" she asked about her brother." He is, and I am amazed at how fast a person could change. He's everything I've ever wanted in a man now," Phebe blushed making Mila 'awwwn' at the other end of the line." Yeah, babe, I will call you back in a few. He's taking me out on a surprise. I will update you on whatever happens. Say hi to lover boy for me," she added hanging up the call.Hayes walked into the apartment feeling tired and worn out. He had a terrible day at school and practice and wasn't in the mood for anything else apart from food and sleep." Hayes, are you okay?" she asked him as she met him in the kitchen getting food for himself after a quick shower." I'm fine," he answered walking past her." Babe, you don't look good. What happened?" Mila asked again. Aside from
“ Get a room love birds!” Willow screamed at Hayes and Mila from the penthouse. Hayes and Mila stood at the shore of the beach sucking each other’s faces off. They had traveled out to one of Khalil’s father’s penthouse which was close to the beach. They needed to bond before they headed back to school the following week. Mila smiled at her friends while walking along the shore with her boyfriend. Phebe, Willow, and Khalil stood looking down at them and Raine and Rémy. “ Aren’t you both joining them for some fun?” Willow asked them.“ Nope,” they both replied popping the ‘p’“ Besides, breakfast is ready. We better start heading inside,” Khalil announced. “ Breakfast is ready love birds!” Phebe yelled at the top of her lungs notifying the couples by the shore. “ Coming!” Mila replied as they headed for the house." Excuse me, let me take this," Phebe said walking out to answer the call as her friends sat at the table eating breakfast." Is she going to be okay?" Khalil asked after
“ Babe...Mila, I am tired of the back and forth between both of us. It's clear we both like each other but are too hotheaded to confess how we feel to each other. But, I am going to have to risk it. I've loved you from the latter part of our senior year till now and the love I have for you keeps growing each time I meet you. We've been on dates, been there for each other and all. All I want to ask is would you do me the honors of being my girlfriend?” Hayes asked her.“ You know you can do it in person instead of talking to a mirror and you know she will say yes right?” Mila said behind him smiling. He was too shocked to say anything because he wasn’t expecting her to be in the door way. She just walked majestically towards him and kissed him square on the lips before saying “ Hayes Miller, I would love to be your girlfriend,”“ It’s about damn time,” he replied making her chuckle.“ But I have a question,” she smiled mischievously.“ Please don’t ask why I was speaking to a mirror,”
“ Just listen to what he has to say Phebs,” Mila said to her friend. Phebe had attended the wedding and was spending the holidays with Mila.“ Why should I?” she asked frustrated pacing up and down the hotel room.“ Because he’s bugging me and most importantly, because you like him. No matter how you deny the fact, you do like him and I think he likes you too,”“ Why doesn’t he say it? He seems uncertain on what he wants Mila,” she tried convincing her.“ Honestly, I don’t know. I can’t tell, perhaps you can talk to him for answers,” Mila suggested. “ I will...eventually,” she murmured walking into the bathroom.Willow stood by the window staring at the gorgeous view in front of her. She never imagined herself being where she was today. “ A penny for your thoughts Mrs. Bennett?” her husband asked standing right behind her. Mrs. Bennett, she liked how the name sounded in her ears. “ I’m just counting how blessed I am,” she answered facing her husband, holding his waist in the proce
