Caden's POV

“Say that one more time. I didn't quite hear you the first time.” I said, uncrossing my arms.

Casa shook her head as if disappointed. “This isn't a joke, Caden. You will be getting married if your life is threatened again.”

“Like fuck I will!” I scoffed. “You expect me to arrive when my life is in danger? What is marriage now? Some sort of life insurance?”

Gabriel made an attempt to speak but I cut him off.

“Not another word from you. The last thing I want to hear is your shitty American accent.” I spun around and picked at the hairs at the back of my neck with my good hand.

“Caden, this is what your grandfather wanted.” Jonathan began softly.

“What about what I want?” I tilted my head to meet his gaze. “Did any of you stop to ask me that?”

“It's not in our power to do that, Caden,” Jonathan sighed. “Your grandfather clearly stated in the second clause that if a threat to your life is deemed persistent beyond 30 days, then you'll have to get married to someone vetted and approved by the board.”

“Why?” I asked, still picking at the hairs till they stung like a bitch.

“Your grandpa was obsessed with legacy and stability. And a single, reckless CEO with a death wish isn’t exactly stable in the eyes of investors.” Gabriel added.

“Investors are what you're worried about when my life is in danger? I should fire you!” I hissed. “And marriage? Who, pray tell, is the saviour I'll be getting married to.”

The trio exchanged quiet looks, giving me the answer I needed to know.

I slapped my forehead.“Jesus Christ.”

“Having a bodyguard follow you everywhere 24/7 will only spark suspicion among the people so to avoid that, your grandfather decided we have a bodyguard pose as your partner, thereby reducing the risk of your life falling in danger.” Casa explained like this was one of those shitty lectures she attends in Cambridge.

I sum everything they've told me and sighed. “So you’re telling me if I don’t marry my bodyguard, I lose my entire company?”

The trio exchanged a resigned look before looking at me.

“Yes.” They chorused.

That word did enough damage.

I stuffed both my hands in my pockets and turned to the door.

“Caden, where are you going?” Gabriel called behind me.

I clutched the doorknob and twisted it open. “To my room to get some sleep. You know, to sleep on the bomb you three just dropped on my lap.”

“You know this marriage will still hold without your consent.” Casa added.

“Like hell it would.” I walked out of the room, not forgetting to slam the door on my way out. lol

I didn't even bother to return to the kitchen. Those three had successfully ruined my appetite like they do every time.

“Dinner is ready, sir.” Joakim said the moment I stepped into the living room.

I dismissed him with a light wave. “I'm not hungry. Thank you.”

“You sure?” He arched his brow.

“Are you deaf?! I said I'm not hungry!” I snapped.

Shit.

I palmed my forehead and sighed. “Look, I lost my cool and I'm sorry but please, I'm not hungry. You can share dinner with the rest of the team. Goodnight.”

With that, I paddled to the direction of my room. A good night's sleep would fix this nightmare. I'm too young to be depressed.

“Depressed huh? That's a common word teenagers use nowadays.” Those words flashed through my head and I stopped dead in my tracks.

It was HIM. Again. Why does he keep running through my mind after all these years? What gave him the right to just punish me with the memory of his eyes and his scent?

Fuck. I think I'm obsessed.

Another sigh escaped me and I took a step forward but I bumped into a wall. Since when were walls built with chiseled muscles and 6 packs?

“If you want to feel my abs, you could just ask nicely.” A familiar gravy voice caressed my skin.

I looked up and met full pink lips, pointed nose till they locked on dark-gray eyes.

Asher was sporting a black T-shirt that clung to his upper body like a second skin. The man was ripped in all the good places. He was the kind of man God had spent time creating. Too bad, the man in question was an infuriating asshole.

“I'd rather bleach my eyes than touch you.” I pulled away from him.

“You sure? Because you looked like you wanted to.” He flashed me a grin and I died. I cannot be attracted to this man. It's Mission : Impossible.

“Go fuck yourself, Asher.” I tried to sidestep him but he grabbed my elbow. “Let go.”

“One of these days, I'll teach that foul mouth of yours a lesson.” He growled.

Okay. What did I find that hot? And why in Queen Elizabeth's name was I looking forward to the lesson he'll teach me. My mouth, I mean.

Get your head back in the game, Caden.

I shoved his arm away but he was quick to grab me. This time he pulled me closer to himself. No distance, no space. Just the two of us, chest pressed against each other, breaths nearly one.

“Don't make my job difficult for me, little prince.” Asher hissed.

“If you don't want me to make your life a living hell, I suggest you get out of my fucking way.” I bit out.

“Watch what you say to me.” Asher's grip on my elbow tightened.

I don't wince. I won't give him the liberty of seeing me fumble. So, I lift my chin and smile. “Get the fuck out of my way, please.”

He murmured a rain of unintelligent curses before he dragged me away.

“Where the hell are we going?” I asked, trying my best to keep up with his large footsteps.

“Dinner.” He growled again.

Caden's PovI ran past my height of endurance, shouldering through the crowd and yelling loud curses when I tripped.I ignored grandma's calls and the scrutiny of my employees. Have they never seen a man run before?I dashed to my private elevator and jumped in, then I pulled out my phone and called Javier to ready the Jet.He answered after the first ring. “Sir —”I didn't give him a chance to greet me. Better things needed my attention. “Ready the jet. Now.”“Ready the jet?” He repeated with alarm. “But sir, that's not possible. We just parked the jet. It'll take hours to —” “Fuck! What do we do?!” I yelled.“I will book you a flight on first class or we can use your grandmother's private plane.” He suggested.“Fuck. She wouldn't agree. Asher's PovCaden left. He's gone and I can't bring him back. There was nothing I could say or do to convince him to stay.“You should've gone after him.” Sarah said, reminding me from the umpteenth time.“I know.” I dragged my hand through my short hair.“So what are you going to do now?” She patted my shoulder.“Now…” I sighed. “I don't know.”****I tried calling Gatsby to know where Caden was. When her line wasn't reachable, I decided to check online. On the Legacy Group official page, there was a post about a 40 year anniversary. I stumbled across lots of pictures including those of Regina, the calvary, Regina and Caden. Caden…I traced my fingers over his image and sighed. “I wish I could find you.” I heard incoming footsteps and froze. It was probably Lia. I put her phone back where she was charging it and hid under her bed. “Serves that idiot right.” She giggled as she slammed the door behind her. Then she wandered to her bedside table and took her phone. “That's odd. Caden's PovI've made terrible decisions in my life : drunk driving, eating before riding a ferris wheel, wearing a blue suit to a black-tie event but crossing oceans to find Asher was not in that category. If anything, I was willing to risk my life for him. But as I sit here in the cabin of my jet, I think I'm regretting my decision. The decision I made to leave.Gastby had returned to the mansion with Bella cradled in her arms and sweat making her clothes cling to her body. “We have to go. Now.” she said as soon as she arrived. Her eyes met Asher's and she mumbled a greeting. She did the same to Sarah and Lia who watched us quietly.I said nothing as I crossed the room to meet her.Her eyes narrowed at me. “Where's your bag?” “Got stolen.” I carried Bella from her and cradled the sleeping cat in my arms. She was pregnant? But how?“I'm not gonna ask how it happened but come on, let's go.” Gastby said, leading the way out.“But does he have to leave so soon?” Sarah asked.“Yes. I'

Asher's PovI was acting like a goddamn coward and I hated it.Caden didn't ask me for diamonds. He didn't even ask for money. All he asked was for me to come home with me and I froze.I completely froze. “Can we talk about this?” He asked when I got into bed beside him.“About what?” I played the ignorant card. It was the coward's way out but I chose it anyway.“About what I said earlier. Are you coming back with me?” He said, leaning on his side to look at me.God knows I didn't know the answers to that. “Caden, look…” I began but he turned away from me.“It's fine. Goodnight.” He said, leaning too close to the edge I feared he'd fall off.“Caden, come here or you'll fall.” I said. Again. Another cowardly move but I cared about him enough not to let him fall.“Caden?”He didn't answer me.I reached out and pulled him closer. Thankfully, he didn't pull away. “I'm sorry. Can we talk about this later?” I mumbled against his shoulder. He still didn't respond. Fuck. It's like talking

Like he didn't need this to end.God, I missed him too and I needed him too. I wanted to erase the tension on his shoulder and make him calm.I feel Asher's erection nudged against my ass and I rub myself all over him, my own cock straining and shoving the fabric of my pants. A strangled noise escaped me when he threaded his fingers through my hair and pulled tighter.Just then he pulled away from the kiss and dropped his forehead against mine, breathing harshly against my lips. Then he pressed his face against my neck and inhaled deeply like he wanted to engrave my smell into his memory. He was like a junkie and I'd never loved him more.“I missed you, Caden.” He said in a low, gruff voice I loved to hear. I can feel the tension bunching underneath my palms on his shoulders. He's still tense. We have to fix that.I cup

  • THE BODYGUARD WHO TAMED THE TRILLIONAIRE CEO   CHAPTER SEVENTY SIX

Caden's PovAfter Asher ate his breakfast and me, we decided to go sightseeing. Believe me when I say that I was scared out of my wits when I mentioned that. I still hadn't gotten over the fact that I was robbed and nearly killed yesterday but spending a day with Asher was like taking a vacation. I desperately needed it.“So where do you want to go?” Asher asked me as he packed up a few sandwiches in the picnic basket. “A few restaurants and maybe.. the beach.” I smiled when Lia looked up from her phone. She opened her mouth to speak but Sarah beat her to it.“That’s wonderful,” she smiled. “Asher, you should definitely take him to see the glowing cave.”Curiosity got the better of me. “Glowing cave?”“Yeah. It's this cave near the beach that's filled with bioluminescent algae. They glow at night. Very beautiful.” Lia explained in the driest tone I'd ever heard.“That sounds lovely. I'd love to go there.” I said to her dismay.“Are you sure? I heard most people get robbed in there.”
