The rain hadn’t stopped.

If anything, it had grown heavier.

Thin streams of water ran down the café windows, distorting the glow of streetlights outside into soft golden streaks. The storm had driven more people indoors, and Crescent Café was now fuller than it had been earlier that evening.

Yet at Lena’s table, the world felt oddly quiet.

She studied the man sitting across from her.

Adrian.

The name suited him somehow—calm, confident, and slightly mysterious.

He held his coffee cup loosely in one hand, leaning back in his chair with a relaxed posture that suggested he had nowhere else he needed to be.

Lena, however, was still trying to understand why he had chosen to sit with her.

“You still haven’t explained something,” she said after a moment.

Adrian raised an eyebrow slightly.

“What’s that?”

“You approached a stranger because you were curious.” She tapped her fingers lightly against the table. “That’s not exactly a normal reason.”

He smiled faintly.

“Normal is overrated.”

“That sounds like something people say when they’re avoiding the real answer.”

“Or when the real answer is simple.”

Lena leaned forward slightly.

“Then go ahead. I’m listening.”

Adrian studied her for a moment before replying.

“When I walked into the café,” he said slowly, “everyone else was doing something predictable. Talking, scrolling through their phones, staring at the rain.”

“And I wasn’t?”

“You were staring at your laptop like it had personally offended you.”

Lena blinked.

“…That accurate, huh?”

“Very.”

She couldn’t help but laugh softly.

“Well, to be fair, it kind of did.”

“Work problem?”

“Freelance writing problem.”

Adrian nodded thoughtfully.

“That explains the expression.”

“You’ve seen it before?”

“Many times.”

She tilted her head.

“And what exactly do you do that lets you recognize the suffering of freelance writers?”

He took a sip of his coffee before answering.

“I read people.”

“That’s not a job description.”

“No,” he agreed. “But it’s something I’m good at.”

Lena narrowed her eyes slightly.

“Are you going to answer the question?”

“Eventually.”

“That sounds suspicious.”

“Only a little.”

Their conversation paused briefly as a waitress passed by with a tray of drinks.

The café had grown livelier now. Conversations hummed around them, and the jazz music had shifted into a slower, deeper melody.

Lena noticed something then.

Adrian wasn’t looking around the room like most people did in public places.

His attention remained focused entirely on her.

It made her oddly aware of every small movement she made.

“So,” she said, breaking the silence, “what do you see when you read people?”

He considered the question carefully.

“Most people,” he said, “try very hard to appear confident. Or successful. Or happy.”

“And you can tell when they’re not?”

“Usually.”

“And what about me?”

Adrian didn’t answer right away.

Instead, he leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on the table.

“You’re curious,” he said.

Lena blinked.

“That’s not exactly a groundbreaking observation.”

“Impatient too.”

“Okay, now you’re just describing everyone.”

He smiled again.

“But you’re also someone who doesn’t like routines.”

That made her pause.

“Why would you think that?”

“You’re sitting here on a rainy night working in a café instead of staying home where it’s comfortable.”

“That’s because my apartment is boring.”

“Exactly.”

Lena studied him again.

“You’re surprisingly observant for someone who won’t even tell me what he does for a living.”

“I never said I wouldn’t.”

“You’ve definitely been avoiding it.”

Adrian chuckled softly.

“Fair enough.”

He leaned back slightly.

“I work in consulting.”

“That’s… vague.”

“It’s supposed to be.”

She gave him a skeptical look.

“You’re one of those people who says ‘consulting’ because explaining your job would take too long.”

“Something like that.”

“Or because it sounds mysterious.”

“That’s an added bonus.”

Lena shook her head.

“You’re impossible.”

“I’ve been called worse.”

Another flash of lightning briefly illuminated the café windows.

The thunder that followed rolled low across the sky.

Lena glanced outside.

The storm didn’t seem like it would stop anytime soon.

“You’re probably stuck here for a while,” Adrian said.

“Looks like it.”

“Does that bother you?”

“Not really.”

She gestured toward her laptop.

“I wasn’t making much progress anyway.”

Adrian looked at the screen.

“Architecture article?”

Her eyes widened slightly.

“How did you—”

“The headline is visible.”

“Oh.”

She quickly turned the laptop slightly away.

He laughed quietly.

“Relax. I’m not judging your work.”

“You better not be.”

“I wouldn’t dare.”

For a moment they simply sat there, the conversation settling into a comfortable rhythm.

It surprised Lena how easy it felt.

Normally she was cautious with strangers.

But something about Adrian made the interaction feel strangely natural.

Still…

There was something she couldn’t quite figure out.

“Can I ask you something else?” she said.

“Of course.”

“Why did you really come over here?”

He tilted his head slightly.

“I already told you.”

“No,” Lena said. “You gave me the polite version.”

“And the other version?”

She leaned forward slightly.

“The honest one.”

Adrian watched her for a moment.

Then he spoke quietly.

“Because you looked interesting.”

Her heart skipped a beat.

“That’s still vague.”

“Not really.”

“How so?”

“When someone walks into a room,” he said, “most people blend into the background.”

“And I didn’t?”

“No.”

Lena felt a faint warmth rise to her cheeks.

“That might be the worst pickup line I’ve ever heard.”

“It wasn’t a pickup line.”

“Then what was it?”

“The truth.”

His tone was calm, but the intensity in his eyes made her suddenly aware of how close they were sitting.

She quickly leaned back in her chair.

“Well,” she said lightly, “if that’s your strategy for meeting people, it’s surprisingly effective.”

“Is it?”

“You’re still sitting here, aren’t you?”

Adrian smiled.

“Fair point.”

Outside, the rain continued pouring down.

Inside the café, Lena realized something strange.

The article she had been struggling with earlier was completely forgotten.

Instead, she found herself genuinely curious about the man across the table.

And the more they talked, the more questions appeared in her mind.

Questions she wasn’t sure she was ready to ask.

Because one thing was becoming clear.

Meeting Adrian tonight hadn’t been part of her plan.

But somehow…

It already felt like the beginning of something unexpected.

Something that might change the quiet routine of her life in ways she couldn’t yet imagine.

And for reasons she couldn’t quite explain—

That possibility excited her.

"I think that we should put our heads down and investigate quietly, about the origins of Adrian before we jump into conclusions." Lena said. Heimdall sighed and said "Hey I know how you feel but anytime that I see him I see the tribunal. He may be the sweet hearted Adrian you know now, But if by any chance he is related to the Tribunal, He would change completely not long from now. Besides, Lord Poseidon seeks his attendance in the aethar. I don't know why he does but he told me in a revelation that I should bring Adrian to him for some questioning." The gods as we know them may have some information regarding the origins of Azarel." "I think that we should inform him about what is going on in his life. The thing is i wish he can have some kind of remembrance concerning his past." Heimdall nods in affirmation and rel

But as of now, no matter how many times you kill us, we won't die. We'll just keep returning, again and again and again". Heimdall exhales a deep sigh of relief and asks him "How many demons are in the abyss. Just give us a rough sum". "Hmmm. We are legion for we are multiplying every minute.
