Rain had been falling over the city for hours.

Not the violent kind that crashed against rooftops and flooded the streets, but a steady, persistent drizzle that coated everything in a thin shimmering layer. The sidewalks glistened under the amber glow of streetlights, and cars passing by sent thin sprays of water toward the curb.

Inside Crescent Café, the atmosphere was warm and quiet.

Soft jazz music drifted through the speakers overhead, blending with the low murmur of conversation and the rhythmic hiss of the espresso machine. The air smelled of roasted coffee beans, chocolate, and fresh pastries.

It was the kind of place people came to escape the outside world.

And tonight, Lena Carter needed exactly that.

She sat by the large window near the corner of the café, her laptop open in front of her and a half-finished latte beside it. The foam had long since settled, leaving a thin ring of caramel color around the rim of the cup.

Her fingers hovered over the keyboard.

Then stopped.

She sighed.

The blinking cursor on the screen mocked her.

For the past twenty minutes she had been trying to finish an article for a client—something about urban architecture trends—but her mind refused to cooperate.

Instead, her thoughts kept drifting.

To the rain.

To the quiet loneliness of the evening.

To the strange feeling that her life had somehow fallen into a predictable routine she couldn’t quite escape.

Lena rubbed her temples gently.

“Focus,” she whispered to herself.

Freelance writing had seemed like a dream when she first started. Flexible hours. Independence. Creative freedom.

But lately it had begun to feel more like an endless loop of deadlines and caffeine.

Outside the window, a couple hurried past under a shared umbrella, laughing as they tried to avoid stepping into puddles.

Lena watched them for a moment.

Then quickly looked away.

She wasn’t jealous.

At least, that’s what she told herself.

The bell above the café door chimed suddenly.

Lena didn’t look up right away. People came and went constantly.

But something made her glance toward the entrance anyway.

A tall figure stepped inside, shaking droplets of rain from a dark coat.

For reasons she couldn’t explain, the room seemed to shift slightly the moment he walked in.

He wasn’t loud or dramatic.

In fact, his movements were calm and controlled.

But there was something about his presence that drew attention without effort.

The stranger removed his coat slowly, revealing a simple charcoal shirt underneath. His dark hair was slightly damp from the rain, and he ran a hand through it as he glanced around the café.

His eyes briefly scanned the room.

Then, unexpectedly—

They met Lena’s.

She quickly looked back down at her laptop.

Her heart gave a small, surprising thump.

“Relax,” she muttered quietly.

It was ridiculous to feel self-conscious because a stranger looked in her direction.

Still, she could feel a strange awareness lingering in the back of her mind.

At the counter, the barista greeted the newcomer.

“Evening! What can I get for you?”

His voice when he replied was calm and smooth.

“Black coffee.”

Short. Simple.

Lena told herself to ignore the conversation.

But for some reason she found herself listening anyway.

The barista handed him the drink moments later.

Instead of leaving or sitting at the empty table nearby, the stranger turned and looked around the café again.

Lena pretended to focus intensely on her screen.

Please don’t come over here.

She wasn’t sure why that thought appeared in her mind.

Maybe because strangers rarely approached her in public places.

Or maybe because something about this particular stranger made her instinctively cautious.

Footsteps moved across the floor.

Then stopped beside her table.

“Excuse me.”

Lena looked up.

Up close, he was even more striking than she had realized from across the room.

Sharp jawline.

Dark eyes.

A composed expression that carried the faintest hint of amusement.

“Yes?” she said.

He gestured toward the empty chair across from her.

“Do you mind if I sit here?”

Lena glanced around the café.

There were at least five empty tables.

She raised an eyebrow.

“You’re aware there are plenty of other seats available.”

“I noticed.”

“Then why this one?”

The corner of his mouth lifted slightly.

“Because this seat comes with conversation.”

Lena blinked.

That answer caught her off guard.

“You assume I want conversation.”

“Fair point,” he admitted.

There was a brief pause.

Then Lena leaned back slightly in her chair.

“Alright,” she said. “Let’s try this again.”

He waited patiently.

“Why,” she continued, “did you actually choose this table?”

His gaze met hers again.

“Curiosity.”

Her brow furrowed.

“About what?”

“You.”

The directness of the answer made her momentarily speechless.

Lena folded her arms.

“You don’t know anything about me.”

“Exactly.”

“That’s not usually a good reason to approach strangers.”

“Sometimes it is.”

She studied him for a moment.

He didn’t seem arrogant.

Or pushy.

Just… confident.

In a quiet, controlled way.

Finally, she sighed and gestured toward the chair.

“Fine. You can sit.”

“Thank you.”

He pulled out the chair and sat down across from her.

For a moment neither of them spoke.

Rain continued tapping against the window beside them.

Lena closed her laptop halfway.

“I’m Lena,” she said.

“Adrian.”

His voice carried the same calm tone she’d heard earlier.

“So, Adrian,” she said carefully, “do you always approach random people in cafés?”

“Not always.”

“Just tonight?”

“Just tonight.”

“And why is tonight special?”

He considered the question briefly.

“Because tonight,” he said, “I had a feeling I shouldn’t ignore an opportunity.”

Lena tilted her head.

“An opportunity for what?”

“To meet someone interesting.”

She laughed softly.

“That’s a bold assumption.”

“Am I wrong?”

She didn’t answer right away.

Instead, she picked up her coffee and took a small sip.

The warmth spread through her chest.

Finally, she looked back at him.

“That depends,” she said.

“On what?”

“Whether you turn out to be interesting too.”

Adrian’s eyes glinted slightly with amusement.

“Challenge accepted.”

Outside, thunder rumbled faintly in the distance.

Inside the café, Lena found herself unexpectedly intrigued by the stranger sitting across from her.

She had come here hoping for a quiet evening of work.

Instead, she had met someone who seemed determined to disrupt her routine.

And strangely enough—

She wasn’t entirely sure she minded.

"I think that we should put our heads down and investigate quietly, about the origins of Adrian before we jump into conclusions." Lena said. Heimdall sighed and said "Hey I know how you feel but anytime that I see him I see the tribunal. He may be the sweet hearted Adrian you know now, But if by any chance he is related to the Tribunal, He would change completely not long from now. Besides, Lord Poseidon seeks his attendance in the aethar. I don't know why he does but he told me in a revelation that I should bring Adrian to him for some questioning." "Why did he ask for such a request?" "Well, I know nothing about it but if I can sense anything, it would be that whatever he is calling him for, is not good. The gods as we know them may have some information regarding the origins of Azarel." "I think that we should inform him about what is going on in his life. The thing is i wish he can have some kind of remembrance concerning his past." Heimdall nods in affirmation and rel
