The warehouse exploded into chaos.

The sound of boots came from outside, followed by shouting.

“Police! Drop your weapons!”

I turned toward the entrance. Alex’s men immediately reached for their guns. My heart slammed against my chest. For one second, I thought I was finally safe. Then Alex grabbed me. His arm locked around my neck and pulled me against him. I struggled, but he was stronger. A cold piece of metal touched the side of my head. A gun.

“Stay back!” Alex shouted.

The police stopped.

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 265 — CAUGHT

Nathan’s fingers finally worked the stubborn button free. The fabric gave a soft pop. He tugged the zipper down next, slow and sure. Serena lay still on the bed, face turned to the wall, breathing even and deep. Nothing would wake her now. The obstacle keeping him from starting what he came to do was gone. His shirt was already on the floor somewhere behind him. He unzipped his trousers too and climbed the bed. The cool air of the room touched his bare back. He reached for the waistband of her trousers, ready to slide them down her hips. Then the door slammed open so hard it bounced off the wall. Nathan’s head snapped around. Four security men filled the doorway. Behind them stood Emma, phone in her hand, face hard as stone. Clara was a step to the side, one arm around Lila. For one second Nathan froze. The calm certainty he had carried all night cracked and fell away. His hands were still on Serena’s trousers. One of the guards crossed the room in two long steps. A thick

Clara stayed closer to the gap, phone raised, body angled just enough to catch what was happening inside without stepping into the light. Clara’s finger pressed the record button. The screen glowed soft in the dark. She held the phone steady with both hands. Her breathing stayed quiet and controlled. From the room came the low sound of movement again. Nathan’s back was to the door. He worked with calm, unhurried motions, as if he had all the time in the world. He worked on Serena's last buttons as if he knew she would not wake up. The button hooked and refused to open. Serena did not stir. Her face stayed turned toward the wall. Clara’s stomach tightened. Nathan looked completely sure she would not wake. Emma glanced at Clara, then back at Lila. She crouched a little so her voice stayed near the child’s ear. “Look at me, okay? Don’t look that way. We’re just checking something. Stay right here with me.” Lila nodded. Clara kept the phone aimed through the narrow opening. She

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 263 — WAKE UP

Clara and Lila stepped into the hallway. The mansion was quiet. Only the soft hum of the air conditioning filled the long corridor. The low night lights cast thin shadows along the walls. Clara still could not believe what Lila had just told her. Her mind kept going back to the words. Nathan. Inside Serena’s room. Trying to take her clothes off while she slept. It sounded impossible. Nathan had come on the beach trip with them. He had argued with Adrian, yes, but this? Clara’s stomach twisted. Lila’s small hand stayed locked around hers. The little girl’s fingers were cold and tight. “He is still there,” Lila whispered, looking up at her. “I saw him, Aunty Clara. He was by Mommy’s bed, we need to hurry, he might be hurting mommy.” Clara looked down at her. Lila’s eyes were wide and wet. Her lower lip trembled. “Are you sure it was him?” Clara asked softly. Lila nodded hard. “It was the uncle from the beach. The one who argued with Daddy. He was standing right next to Mommy.

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 262 — THE TRUTH COMES OUT

Victor pushed the bedroom door open and stopped. For one terrible second, he could not believe what he was seeing.Lia stood beside the bed, her hands at Adrian’s waist, trying to pull his trousers down completely. Adrian lay weakly against the pillows, face pale, one hand pressed hard against his temple. His eyes were half-closed, his breathing shallow.“What are you doing?”Lia spun around, eyes wide. “Mr. Victor!”“Get away from my son!”She stepped back at once. “You don’t understand. Adrian needed help.”“Help?” Victor’s voice shook with barely controlled rage. “You call this help?”“He wasn’t feeling well. I was only trying to—”“Get away from him!”Lia fell silent.Victor crossed the room in three long strides and knelt beside the bed. Adrian barely responded. His head turned slowly from side to side; he squeezed his eyes shut against the light.“Adrian?” Victor’s chest tightened. “What happened to you?”Adrian tried to answer. The words came out thin and broken. “My head…”Vic

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 261 — THE DOOR WAS OPEN

Inside the twins room. Lila woke up because her throat felt dry.She turned beneath her blanket and opened her eyes. The room was dark. For a few seconds she stayed still, listening to the quiet mansion. Everything seemed peaceful. She glanced at the clock beside her bed, then sat up.She was thirsty.Lila climbed out of bed and quietly opened her bedroom door. She did not want to wake Elias. He was sleeping peacefully, and she knew he would complain if she disturbed him.She stepped into the hallway. The mansion looked different at night. The lights were low, and the long corridor seemed much bigger than it did during the day. She needed water from the fridge but where it was, it was high for her to reach. So she walked toward Clara’s room first. She pushed the door open carefully.“Aunty Clara?”There was no answer. Clara was fast asleep.Lila stood there for a moment, wondering whether she should wake her. She decided against it. She closed the door quietly and walked toward Emma’

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 260 — NATHAN'S MOVE

Back at Serena's mansion. Nathan closed the guest room door behind him and stood there for a moment. The house was quiet.Everything had gone exactly the way he wanted.Serena was upstairs, unconscious and unaware of what was happening around her. Emma and Clara had accepted his story without question. They had even allowed him to stay for the night because they trusted him. They didn't see a reason not to trust him after he brought Serena home. Nathan walked toward the bed and sat down.He removed his shoes and leaned back, pretending to be tired. But sleep was the last thing on his mind.He checked his phone.11:18 p.m.Still too early. He needed to wait.If he moved too soon, someone could still be awake. He did not want to take any unnecessary chances.Nathan placed his phone beside him and stared at the ceiling. He thought about Serena’s words at the café.She was going back to Adrian. She planned to marry him again. After everything Nathan had done for her, she was still choos

He smiled. Soft. Warm. Almost boyish. “There you are,” he murmured. My heart dropped. Because even now… He still thought I was Lia. He stepped in, jacket already off, shirt partially unbuttoned, the scent of whiskey and cologne clinging to him. His movements were unstable from drinking, but ther

The days before the wedding passed like a blur I couldn’t escape. People moved in and out of the house carrying fabrics, jewelry, flowers, and invitations while I stood in the middle of it all feeling completely detached. Measurements were taken and dresses were fitted. Every room was filled with

“There’s a family willing to help us,” my mother explained quickly. “Very powerful. Very wealthy. But they have conditions.”My stomach tightened. “What kind of conditions?” I asked. My sister let out a soft, shaky breath. “They want their son to be married so that they can get a grandchild out of

That night, I sat alone in the vast bedroom that wasn’t mine, wearing a white light robe they had given me after the wedding with no panties under. My hands were clenched so tightly in my lap that my nails left little crescent marks on my palms. I felt nervous. The door opened. He stepped in, jacke
