Gideon’s pov

It has been three days since the meeting and I kept thinking about Maren, Not because Jaxon told me that I have wronged Maren but I can't stop thinking about her, I kept thinking of how her eyes widened and the way she laughed.

Maybe I was wrong. She hasn't done anything to me for me to talk to her that way. But I was being careful in my own way.

I stared at the file that contained her information. I have been debating whether to call or text her or follow her on I*******m instead. Is she not supposed to at least reach out to me first ?, I mean we are making an appearance together at a charity tomorrow evening. Or is she backing out now, she already signed the contract.

No she wouldn't do that, I type her number into my phone and dial it, It rings for a while and she doesn't pick up.

I checked the time, 10:39. Is she asleep at this time ?. I dialed her number again.

She picks up and a sleepy voice cuts through my phone speaker, “Hello”.

“Hello, This is Gideon Patton” I said. I heard some shuffling in the background.

“Hello” I said into the speaker when she didn't reply, my brows furrowed.

“Ehm, hi who did you say you are again?” She asked groggily.

I removed the phone from my ear, the fuck?, didn't she hear me. “Gideon Patton”.

I heard a loud thumping, “Hey, hi…ehm..Mr Patton” she said her voice suddenly sharp.

“Yeah…I wanted you to know that your payment had been made, The financial department should have contacted out to you”

“I have seen it…I didn't know who to reach out too..so I didn't know…” I didn't let her finish before cutting her off

“Do you remember that we are making an appearance tomorrow evening? You checked the schedule sent to you?” I asked and stood up from my couch.

“Yes, I did check it”

“Okay..uhm.. I will send a driver to pick you up tomorrow at five’o o'clock, is that okay with you?” I asked.

“Yeah, is it okay if I get ready at your place?”

“Alright, I mean I already hire a stylist for you”

“Oh okay”

“Yeah, I will follow you on I*******m don't forget to follow back”

“I will, Good night Mr Patton”

“Is it okay if we use our first name?”

“Oh yes, fine by me” She agreed.

“Good night Maren”

“Good night, Gideon” she ended the call before I could say anything else.

Does she not want to speak with me? She was supposed to sound happy that I had called, and she didn't even say thank you to the stylist I hired for her.

I sat down back on my couch and dialed Jaxon's number, after a few rings he picked up, I explained what happened to him.

“Sounds like she is not impressed” Jaxon said, is he not supposed to be on my side?.

“Yeah…wait on whose side are you on ?” I asked him.

“Of course, your side” he lied through his teeth, he had talked my head later that day about the way I treated Maren.

“Hmmm, I see” I glanced at the file, I observed the picture of Maren that is on the file.

‘she looks good with her hair up’

“Giddy? Giddy? Are you still there” Jaxon's voice cuts me from my thought. I frowned when I realised he had called me by the nickname I hate.

“Yes and how many times will I tell you not to call me Giddy” I hissed.

“My fault, you zoned out on the other side, so I thought Giddy might bring you back” He laughed and I groaned.

“You are not helping at all”

“You know that before calling me” he paused, “I really think she is not who you think she is, I mean we are not all the same” he finished, he sounded serious.

“You don't know that, she might be pretending and she sounds a little cold on the call” I disagreed.

“Why won't she ? You were rude. Young Man” he joked and I laughed.

“You are making me feel guilty, what should I do?”

“I don't know? Buy her something? Take her out, dinner or something?”

“I don't want to give the wrong impression, I mean…”

“Not if you guys are friends, is not bad if you propose friendship. You are ‘couples’ you have to sell that of course, at least try to have a connection” Jaxon advised, he rarely sounds serious. It must have mean I have fucked up badly.

My mind drifted off to her again, the hurt on her face when I spoke rudely to her. The way she glanced up at me, staring into my eyes as if challenging.

And the way she nods, ‘it is cute’.

“Fuck” I cursed why did I thought of such thing.

“Are you listening, man?” Jaxon's voice came again.

“Yeah, Yeah I am” I responded

“Looks like you have a lot to think of, I will leave you to make your decision” he said

“Bye”

“Bye man” the call ends.

I ran a hand through my hair, I should do as Jaxon just told me.

He chuckled, skating towards me and assisted me to the bleachers.“What about we eat dinner at my place? We can take pictures—videos to distract my fans. What do you say?” Gideon suggested, he hesitated with his words.“That will be great” I agreed, I don't really want to go home now and hole up in my bed. My stomach churned.I don't even know if I am excited about the invitation from the Galler

GIDEON’S POV“Affogato and cookies,” the barista called out my order.I went to the counter, scrolling through Instagram, reading all the blogs and comments about Maren's relationship. I was worried about her. Her page was filled with a lot of bad comments. After paying, I walked out of the coffee shop.I walked into the meeting area of the headquarters. Maren, Rylee, and Eamon were already waiting.Rylee was pacing around the room, Maren's hands clasped together. “Good morning,” I greeted and walked towards Maren. She smiled and returned my greeting.I placed the paper bag in front of her. Her eyes lit up.“Thank you,” she murmured.“You were late,” Rylee said sternly.“Traffic,” I replied and sat next to Maren, who had already opened the paper bag.“You should keep up with time, Patton,” Mr. Eamon scoffed.“We have a little problem,” Rylee started, and it didn't look like a little problem to her. She was nervous. She had been pacing around when I arrived. “And I have a perfect solut

Maren pov “And I am done” Jaxon slammed his chopsticks on the table, he just finished another bowl of chow mein noodles. He and Rylee decided to bet on who could finish two bowls of chow mein noodles faster. It was funny to watch but I enjoyed their batters. Gideon has been silent since we have been here. He picked at his food, he was awfully quiet. He looked angry. I wanted to say something but when he is in this mood for me I would rather not say anything. Was it his game ? He didn't seem that bothered about it earlier. Or wasn't it because Rylee joined us? No he can't be angry about that Rylee was supposed to go on a date tonight but it got cancelled, that was why I asked her to join us and she agreed, I wouldn't want to let her be on her own. “ Miss Hugo, you are officially owing me a hundred dollars,” Jaxon said, his voice breaking me from my train of thought. Rylee shot him a look, fuming and brought a hundred dollar bill from her purse. “Wow, how much cash do you carr

Many of them stood up, pushing up some cardboards.I smiled and waved, I scanned the lower bowl seat. Where I reserved for Maren, we haven't seen each other since we both left California. She was there, then I saw her making her way to her seat with Rylee. She saw me looking at her and waved and I did the same thing. I was about to skate towards the rink glass to say hi when Jaxon pulled me back. “It is time for the national anthem, lover boy.” He said, I glared at him before joining the forming queue, my eyes wandered off again and landed on Maren. She looked better than the last time I saw her. I remember her going pale after reading something on her phone, she withdrew from her lively self. At first I though

  • THE CONTRACTUAL GIRLFRIEND: FAKE DATING MY EX FAVORITE PLAYE   Twenty-three: A Hangover and Trust.

Maren’s POV:My head throbs with a dull, rhythmic ache, like someone had drummed on my head throughout the night. The feeling was familiar. I sat up and opened my eyes a little bit. Thankfully, the curtains were closed and the lights were dimmed. Hangovers and lights don’t work together.I slapped a hand to my throbbing head and scanned the room. It was an unfamiliar room. Wait. I am not in my hotel room! Did I sleep with someone?I glanced down at my clothing and I was still wearing the gown which I wore to the party.I heaved a breath of relief as my clothing was intact. The door opened and Gideon stepped in.“You are awake,” he smiled, moving further into the room. “Good morning.”“I don’t think I am having one,” I replied. My throat feels scratchy and my mouth dry and sour. How much did I drink last night?Gideon chuckled. It was smooth and low. He turned towards another direction.“What is funny?” I asked. Did I look cratered right now? Oh my God, a hangover face is the worst. I

Gideon's POV:I tapped my foot against the floor as I leaned against the wall outside of Maren's hotel room, waiting for her to come out so we could head to the club. We had just come back from the beach about two hours ago.I took a couple of pictures of her at the beach. She looked so beautiful in the pictures; she was calm and had a bright smile on her face, gentle and soft. The door opened and she stepped out. She had changed her clothes from earlier to a short burgundy gown, and she even had her makeup done. Her hair was down. I don’t know which one suits her better, her hair down or up. She looks beautiful both ways.“I am ready,” I heard her say, which cut me out of my thoughts. I cleared my throat; I must have been staring like a creep.“Yeah… yeah, let’s go,” I tried not to sound weird. She gave me a smile, the one that doesn’t look strained, and I smiled. Then she burst into laughter.“What?” I frowned. “Why are you laughing?” I asked. “What is funny?”“Your hair—” she wheez
