BEFORE RUBY OPENED her eyes, she knew she was in somewhere strange. From the texture of the bed she was laying on, to the smell of the room communicated to her that her current whereabout is completely different from her regular place of abode. She opened her eyes in slits and she was not wrong. A bright bulb fixated at the ceiling shone so bright that she had to shut her eyes as quick as she opened them. After opening her eyes more slowly, the ray of light emanating from the bulb didn't seem so bright anymore. JARED KEPT TOSSING in his bed as he tried to find a comfortable position that would put him to sleep but every position he took made him more uncomfortable. He sat up on his bed and heaved a sigh. He began hearing sobs and he knew no one in the house was sobbing. He closed his eyes and listened carefully but he couldn't decipher who was in so much tears to the extent of gasping for breath. He moved to the living room and saw his mother snuggled in the couch and her head on Bennie's lap as he sat with his right hand wrapped around her waist. They were both watching the television. As he turned to retrace his steps back upstairs, Bennie called out to him with his head turned to face him in an awkwardly uncomfortable manner. "Jared." THE CONSTANT TICK-TOCK sound that emanated from the wall clock adjacent to Jared rung loudly in his ears as his focus was totally on the giant time piece.Every ticking of each second looked like an hour to Jared. RUBY'S HEART WAS pounding with every step she took but she was determined to make it out of the ship. All the time she had spent there, she had felt nothing but worry and regret. She wondered if she had been charmed by Henry. The only thing she cared about at the moment was getting back to the guardians, especially Jared.It was in the early hours of the morning and the sun was not up yet. THE RAYS OF blue light that emanated from the large metal halo scared Sarah who was laying on a stretcher in front of it. She flinched on the soft foam she was on."Are you done?" She asked turning her head upwards, uncomfortably so she could know what was going on behind her back.She stared at the blue lights that radiated the halo and the wires connected to it. The connection wasn't something deep. The wires were directly placed on the halo as it radiated with energy light rays in it's large round center. And the wires were connected to her head directly as a passage to her brain. It just stood there on several parts of her head.
