CHAPTER ONE

"Jess-"

"What did you do?" Jess asked, while staring at Luna with his big, curious eyes.

Her heart skipped.

Luna shook her head repeatedly. She shook it so hard, an intense headache surged sideways. The blood and lifeless bodies that laid across the floor were messing with her head.

"You're my boyfriend Jess, you know I can't do this," she tried convincing the fierce looking Jess, who looked like he could kill her at that point. He really could, if he wanted.

Unlike the expression on her face, Luna's mind was in turmoil. Walking into Jess's apartment, only to see his parents dead, with a knife stuck in his mother's flat belly.

At first, she had been shocked and petrified as she stared at the multiple gash on their body. It was brutal, that she had staggered in disbelief and on impulse, raced to the body of his mother and pulled the knife out, while shaking her cold and rigid figure.

It was at that moment, Jess had walked in. He too ran to his parent's body, shaking it as if he couldn't believe the sight before him.

The shock of Luna's life had happened right in front of her. Jess turned to Luna accusingly, glaring at the knife still in her grip.

"What did you do?" Jess inquired again harshly, he blinked severally to hold back the tears that pooled around his eyes.

"Jess, I walked in on them this way. I swear, I don't know what you're talking about." Luna dropped the knife, like it had burnt her. She parted her lips to assure Jess of her innocence, when he nodded like he understood.

"I know," Jess muttered, still shaking his head.

Luna breathed out in partial relief.

"But, the cops wouldn't."

Luna wasn't exactly the smart type, hence why it took her some seconds to understand what his words meant. When she finally understood, she gasped and moved back from Jess.

"What do you mean? Jess, you-"

The siren of the police started blaring faintly. Luna shook her head again, ignoring the headache this time.

"Jess, you said that you understood. You know I can't do this," Luna tried convincing Jess, but when she looked into her boyfriend of six months' eyes, she knew things were wrong. His blue eyes were surprisingly shining with a glint of mischief. The urge to smack the expression off his face, overcame her.

"When did you call the cops? You had no idea until now," Luna said, while squinting her eyes at Jess.

Jess merely chuckled lightly, while crossing his arms against his flat chest. He leaned against the cold wall, mentally counting down the seconds before the cops burst through the open door.

"Did I not?" Jess sneered, and let out a mischievous laughter. At that moment, he looked like a villain. A dangerous one.

The sirens were louder then. Luna breathed heavily, knowing what was next. Her face contorted into that of hate. She wanted to kill him, but that would have to wait, he had the upper hand now. She thought and glared hard.

She staggered forward, and made to grab his collar, but recalled that she had to do something...the cops were getting closer.

Without letting her emotions get to her, Luna glanced at the closed window, she had no idea how high it was, but she was ready to take the risk.

Before Jess could tell what she intended to do, Luna ran to the window and bolted it open. Jess's eyes widened, he raced towards her as she jumped down with a loud and dangerous thud.

"Crazy bitch!" He cursed, as he could hear footsteps run into the sitting room. The cops just had to come a second late.

"She jumped down this high window, she fucking jumped down!" He told them frantically, urging them to go after her.

Luna bit her lips so hard she drew blood, her left leg hurt so much she could barely lift it. She leaned against the wall and breathed out heavily, the pain making her eyes water.

"We need to find her!"

Jess' agitated voice got to her. She took a sharp breath, before limping to a nearby bush. Passing through the bushes could help her avoid the police.

Luna continued to take small steps, while stopping at intervals to tend to her hurt leg. She looked back and fell to the floor, unable to hold back her whimper of pain. Something she rarely did.

"Get your ass up!" Luna urged herself.

"You're not weak, you need to escape so you can plunge a dagger into that lying skull of his." She completed and let out a loud sigh.

She ran her fingers into the pocket of her Jean trousers and retrieved her phone. There was only one person who could help her, even though she doubted if he was at the disposal to do anything at the moment, especially one that had to do with the police.

"I'm at Jess's apartment and the police are after me."

She knew that wasn't explanatory, but that was all she could get out in her disheveled state.

"Luna, what are you-"

Luna hurriedly hung up, when her sensitive ear caught sounds of running feet. She forced herself to stand, and began to limp.

Her injured leg seemed to be cooperating, as she felt herself running faster than before.

But, the feet were catching up on her. Luna thought for a while, before dropping into a crutch in a deep bush she wouldn't normally stay in.

The thick shrubs masked her small figure well, she breathed out again, her heart thumping against her chest.

The feet came to a stop before her, turning slowly and observing the area.

"I know you are here!" A broken voice broke off the silence.

Luna recognized the voice, it was that of Jess. She wanted to come out and confront him, or better still strangle him before the authorities arrived, but she knew better than to do that.

"I will find you!" The voice sounded more broken, more like frustrated.

Luna remained hidden, she would find him instead, and make him regret turning her life drastically.

From a random pickpocket - to a murderer on the run. Yes, her life was perfect! She bit her lips angrily.

Luna wasn't really one to break down in such kind of situation, she was used to running and hiding, hence why she remained well covered by the shrubs.

She could see Jess' silhouette and his large feet decorated with muds from the damp soil.

Her eyes narrowed threateningly, when those horrendous feet began to move towards her hiding place. She tried her hardest to stay still and not make any sound, but the need to face the situation in her was eating and clouding her senses.

The atmosphere was getting darker for her, even though the sun was still bright high up. Black dots were decorating her vision, courtesy to an empty stomach.

The market today was of no luck, everyone guided their wares, leaving no room for Luna to snuggle some breakfast.

"Should I come get you, or you will grace me yourself?" Jess's teasing voice echoed once again.

It still baffled her - the sudden change in Jess personality. He was a complete stranger compared to the loving and caring boyfriend she knew.

Today, he was a monster, a monster who was framing her for his parents' murder.

When Jess's figure stared down at her, she knew she had to do something. Luna pulled herself up, and ran for the busy way against her will. She knew there was a high chance that the police had taken the highway to find her, but she was willing to take her chances.

Jess took after her immediately, Luna felt him, with each step he took, the ground thudded along with her.

The trees whooshed past her, until they both burst into the busy road.

All he needed to do, was to stretch his hands and Jess would grab on to her hair.

But, a car swerved and screeched loudly, halting before her. The passenger door opened and a brown haired man brought out his head and yelled.

"Get in!"

Luna didn't need to be told twice.
