THE DECISION
“We shall be given you twenty-four hours to think about our decision. Do not be in a hurry to answer. Think carefully before you determined what to do.” The manager has spoken to Mabel finally. Jennifer had waited for Demola to call or come to her house but it seems she was waiting in vain. She felt something was wrong. She decided to call him, he couldn’t pick, she felt uneasy, he later picked the call, apologizing. He had stayed in the office after Mabel gave him an ultimatum of twenty-four hours to make a decision. He was confused, sad, and defeated. He kept on brooding on what to do. He couldn’t hear Jennifer’s call because he was lost in thought. He later checked his phone to discover she had given him some missed calls. He picked and apologized.

She replied with a tone of triumph. “Yes, I am” nodding her head in affirmation. In all my entire life, I have never seen such a trickster. She left us thinking. Demola broke through the silence and said “you mean this lady is a twin? The sister may even be worse than her I’ll bet she will return to revenge on behalf of her sister. What do we do? Is there a way out?JENNIFER: I feel we are hedged here. We need to accept her offer and stop dragging things. It is left to you, my love. Monica called me later in the day. I had stored her number in my phone contact. She felt like greeting me. I appreciated her earnestly but was still conscious of warnings to be careful. I guessed I was a little bit tense. Is like she sensed something is wrong, because she said, “hope you are Okay, Jennifer?” “Very much okay, Monica, thank you for your care.” I had said to her.I was wondering why she refused to mention Demola’s refusal to drop her at the junction. Is she pretending or is she sincere? I find it difficult to access her and I wondered why. Could you believe she called me again to ask for a date for the weekend? Before midnight, I had gone to the toilet five times. I decided to take septrin since I had it at home. Self-medication is drug abuse; we have been educated about that. It was like an emergency. I felt something was wrong; could it be the effect of too much ice cream? I felt getting weaker and weaker. I had to make an urgent call to Demola. Monica’s comment gnawed at me all day and I couldn’t think about anything else. I knew I must wake up to reality. After Demola left remorseful, I came back weeping. I felt depressed. I went to the room, I mean my bedroom throwing clothes, scattering my shoes, picking my pillow, throwing on the wall, I kept on throwing tantrums, weeping profusely.
